“Damn, you aint hear me knocking?” Dreka decided to ask, startling both Nunnie and Mix.
“Bitch!” Nunnie let out a high-pitched scream, before yanking the cover over her naked body, while remaining on top of Mix.
Dreka squinted, noticing that her sister didn’t seemingly bother hopping off the dick. She’d merely covered their exposed bodies, but they remained in the same position…almost as if they intended to resume their session the moment she left the room. “Naveriah, so, you gone just keep sitting on the nigga’s dick, while I’m standing here?” she questioned, referring to Nunnie by her government name.
Nunnie buried her face in the crook of Mix’s neck. “No. Just give me a minute. I’ma come in the living room.”
Slowly, Dreka’s eyes traveled to where her sister’s ass was positioned underneath the cover. She noticed that Mix was clearly lying there rubbing her booty. When she saw him deliver a subtle pump, she knew that it was time to make an exit.
“Alright, man. I’ma be in the living room, before I have to cuss Mix’s ass out. Nigga really aint got no respect. He literally still trying to fuck, while I’m standing here talking to you. Like, who does that?”
Mix cuffed Nunnie’s ass with both hands, as he licked his lips. “I mean, shit, you broke into my room. The fuck you expect? Clearly, we busy.”
Dreka gave him the finger, before leaving the room. Traveling back to the living room, she shook her head.
Creeky sat shaking her head. “I told you.”
Dreka sat on the couch. “Yeah, they back there tripping. It’s a house full of people and they’on give a fuck.”
Creeky pursed her lips. “Baby, that’s always. Then be acting like playing that damn music is supposed to disguise something. If anything, that just tells the whole house what they’re up to.”
Dreka smirked. “They’on do that shit when Ms. Gertie is up and moving around here, huh?”
“Girl, what that mean to them? She aint gon say shit. She just gon tell everybody to stay out of their room. That’s it. Other than that, she aint got nothing to say. She just let them carry on with their lil’ unhealthy routine.”
“Aw, Creeky, cut the bullshit,” Ricko interjected. “You just in your feelings cause Mix don’t be in them streets like he used to, so you can’t lay down in his bed or lock yourself up in his room and ignore them kids no more. That nigga takes advantage of his own space now, and you don’t like it. You got used to him being in and out, and you using that room without contributing shit over here. Thangs done changed, though.”
Creeky crinkled her nose. “Ricko, aint nobody talking to your ass, first of all.” She placed up a hand, halting her uncle. “But like I was saying, Dreka. They got a real unhealthy lil’ routine going on. No two people are supposed to spend that much time together. I mean, I don’t know what the hell done got into Mix. I aint never seen shit like it. He went from fucking different hoes to acting like he can’t breathe without Nunnie. Hell, the only reason he’s still making any money is because she rides with him whenever he goes to make his lil’ plays. And that nigga real-life goes to work with her. He claims that he got licks that come through at the mall, while they’re up there, but that’s what he says. I don’t know what to believe. Because at this point, I don’t think he give a fuck about getting money. He just wanna lay up. All day. Every day.”
Ricko chuckled. “Creeky, you sad, girl. You got all dem kids, but it’s clear to see that them niggas just dropped them seeds on the run. They wasn’t never trying to stay around, so you don’t know nothing about what ya cousin and that girl got going on. She just got his nose wide open, right now. That’s all. And she don’t even realize that he keeping her that close, cause she like the shit. They both keeping each other cooped up in that room. That shit is a two-way street. Aint nobody being held against their will back there. Trust me. I was just like that with my kids’ mama back in the day. We used to fuck like some rabbits. That’s how she popped out them babies back to back like she did.”
Creeky yawned. “Yeah, whatever. And that’s what the fuck is finna happen. They know it aint no room in here already and her ass gone wind up pregnant. I can see it now. And grandma just gone let the shit go down. Probably gone baby-sit too, without complaining. You know Mix is her favorite.”
“Girl, shut up with that bullshit,” Ricko groaned. “Nobody don’t wanna hear that shit.”
“I’m just saying. It’s the truth,” Creeky claimed.
Dreka sat listening to them bicker. While sitting there, she heard Nunnie and Mix leave their room and go into the bathroom. Apparently, they didn’t feel the need to rush to accompany her, as they took a shower…together. Of course, this didn’t happen without Creeky pointing it out, swearing that she was tired of them tying up the bathrooms for long lengths of time.
Eventually, Nunnie came twisting into the room, rocking a Nike ensemble. The front of her hair was pulled into a bun and the back hung freely, while in it’s natural bushy curly state.
Dreka arched a brow, because she was actually surprised with her sister’s look. Nunnie usually didn’t know what to do with her thick mane, but she’d seemingly found the right products to tame her curls, as they were now smoother and appeared lustrous.
Mix, donning Nike himself, waltzed into the room right behind Nunnie and copped a squat on the sectional. There was a little space left next to Dreka, and she scooted over to make room for her sister to sit down.
“Sit down, man,” Mix quietly commanded, as he noticed his uncle’s buddies gawking at her ass in her little shorts.
“Yeah,” Dreka smiled, as she patted the spot beside her.
Discreetly, Nunnie glanced at Mix, and their eyes met. He offered a slight head tilt, and suddenly she knew where to sit, as she eased onto his lap.
Dreka cut her eyes at her sister. “Nunnie, for real?”
Nunnie arched her brows. “What?”
Creeky tittered. “See, I told you. Real weirdos.”
Nunnie sucked her teeth. “Weirdos? Creeky, quit the bullshit.”
Creeky sassily twisted her neck. “Baby, I’m just calling it like I see it.”
“Yeah, uh huh.”
“Anyway,” Dreka cut in. “What’s going on with you, Nunnie? I been calling your phone left and right. I been trying to act cool about it, but your voicemail been picking up all day today. That’s when I said that I had to stop by here.”
“We had the phones on do not disturb, man,” Mix offered.
Dreka grimaced. “But why would you do something like that?”
“Cause we aint want no calls today. She off and we just wanted to chill with no interruptions.”
“Wait, Mix, I aint trying to be funny, but why you talking for Nunnie?”
Nunnie giggled. “I told you that she was gonna say that.”
“That I was gonna say what?” Dreka wanted to know.
“What you just said. You don’t want him talking for me…cause that’s what you do,” Nunnie alleged.
Dreka gasped. “Girl—”
“Dreka,” Mix licked his lips. “I know she your lil’ sister and all, but she good, man. I promise. Aint nobody over here fighting on her or no crazy shit like that. She aint missing no meals. Nothing.”
Dreka’s eyes swept over Nunnie. Her sister did indeed look good. Her hair was nice. Her nails were done, and that was something that she rarely kept up with when they were constantly around each other. Hell, even her brows and lashes looked professionally done for a change. Thankfully, there was no lingering evidence of Save’s assault. So, by all accounts, Mix seemed to be doing right by her baby sister…in some aspects.
“Okay, you might be straight on some levels, Nunnie,” Dreka admitted. “I’m not gon lie about that, but it’s other shit I’m seeing that aint sitting right with me.”
“Like what?” Nunnie frowned.
“Are you on birth control?” Dreka blurted.
“Man,” Mix drawled. “Dreka, you overstepping, right now
, man.”
“How?” Dreka jerked her neck back.
“How you aint? She grown. I mean, I can understand you being concerned about her safety or something, but you aint in no position to give nobody advice about life. We gon do what we want. Period. She’on owe you no explanation.”
Creeky smirked. “That’s his version of a hell nah. Her ass aint on no birth control, and apparently he wants her pregnant expeditiously.”
All the men in the room chuckled at the wisecrack, however, Dreka didn’t see anything funny.
“Nunnie, you know that we aint in no position for no babies. Neither one of us,” Dreka glared at her sister.
“Why you looking at me like that?” Nunnie frowned. “You didn’t hear me say nothing.”
“Girl, please.” Dreka rolled her eyes. “Come ride with me. I was coming to get you, anyway. We supposed to be linking with Tellie nem to go to Taste Bar in a few.”
Mix narrowed his eyes. “How you gon just volunteer her to go with you at the last minute? We was supposed to be going to the Turkey Leg Hut with Lickz nem.”
“Cause you can go hang out with them niggas by yourself. She aint gotta go with you,” Dreka argued.
Nunnie glanced back at him. “You cool with me going?”
Dreka sucked her teeth. “Girl, for real? Since when do you need a nigga’s permission? I don’t recall you ever going through all these motions with Save.”
Nunnie’s neck snapped around. “But he’s not Save.”
Mix rubbed her booty. “Tell her again, bae.”
Nunnie turned to focus on Mix again, using a tone that was reserved only for him. Dreka wasn’t used to seeing her sister behave submissively or even interact with a guy so intimately. This was completely different as she was realizing that her baby sister had crossed over into womanhood and was partaking in very adult things with Mix.
“I aint tripping on you hanging with your sister, if that’s what you wanna do,” Mix admitted. “But you straight?”
“I need a lil’ something.”
Nodding, Mix dug into his pocket. After pulling out a knot, he peeled back two bills and handed it to her.
Sitting back, silently, Dreka took stock of everything, and she knew that she wanted to get Nunnie’s ass alone. They needed to talk, before things could get out of control.

As planned, Dreka, Nunnie, Tink, Tellie, and Drias had all linked up at Taste Bar, which was a trendy restaurant right outside of downtown Houston.
“Nunnie, I fucks with that Gucci watch you got there. I been searching high and low for that bitch,” Tink voiced from across the table.
“Thank you,” Nunnie replied, while devouring her scrumptious macaroni and cheese.
Dreka sat glaring at her sister. “You sure have been eating your ass off. I know ole boy gave you enough money to eat ‘til your heart is content, but you going kinda hard, don’t you think?”
Tink grimaced. “Bitch, why you worried about what she does with her food?”
“Cause I’m trying to see if the hoe done got pregnant already,” Dreka scoffed, causing Nunnie to pause.
“Dreka, do you really have to be so damn dramatic? I’m just eating my damn food. It aint that serious,” Nunnie fussed.
“Yeah, whatever,” Dreka griped.
Tink cut her eyes at Dreka. “I’m really trying to figure out what happened. You left to go get Nunnie in a good mood, but came back a damn sour puss. What the hell happened?”
Dreka sucked her teeth. “Girl, that was before I realized that Nunnie was over there with Mix, losing her damn mind. They over there fucking like rabbits. No condoms. No birth control. Acting like they’re married or some shit. Nigga was acting like he didn’t even want her coming with us. But she think that shit is cute.”
Nunnie rolled her eyes. “Ion think shit. And let’s not forget that you just popped up. We already had plans and he told you that. But because I haven’t seen yall in a while, I canceled those plans, so I don’t know why you’re still going on and on. If anything, you just don’t like feeling like I listen to anybody other than you. But you really need to get out of that. Yall can share me, Dreka. So, take some of the hostility out of your voice.”
Tellie giggled. “Only Nunnie can read this bitch her rights, I swear.”
Dreka pursed her lips. “Whatever.”
Tink laughed. “Hell, yeah. This bitch is really sitting here, getting jealous. Don’t wanna let Nunnie do her thang, but nobody say nothing when she’s with her niggas ducked off somewhere.”
“Exactly,” Nunnie co-signed. “She be quick to leave me for days at a time, but now that I’m off doing my own thing, it’s a problem.”
“She was just used to you being with Save,” Tink offered. “I told Dreka that shit between yall was child’s play.”
“Speaking of Save, what’s going on with him?” Drias questioned.
Nunnie shrugged. “He’s still locked up the last time I checked. All those charges got his bond high, and his people can’t afford to get him out.”
“Have you talked to him?” Tellie enquired.
“Hell, no,” Nunnie spat. “I aint got shit to say to him, after the way he pistol whipped my ass. But he tries reaching out through his family. They be calling me on three-way, but I won’t pick up for their ass, either. He got so desperate that he called Mix’s phone the other day.”
“Wait, what?” Dreka arched a brow.
“Yeah, he called Mix’s phone.”
“And what happened?” Tink pressed.
“Mix put him on speaker. At first, Save tried to play dumb. You know, he acted like the call was about their beef or whatever. He told him that after he thought about it, it was what it was. He wasn’t gone dry beef with his BK nigga over a bitch or whatever. Basically, he claimed that he only had a issue with me, because I was supposed to be his gal. For a little while Mix sat and listened to see where he was going with the conversation, until he finally asked Mix if he’d seen me around. Mix told him that he sees me every day, because we was together now. And then Save got real quiet. Then he just gon come out and say ‘My nigga, I aint even gon lie. I feel like if these people let me out of here, I’ma put a bullet in both of you bitches’ heads. Cause you wrong, my nigga. You knew she was my bitch. We supposed to be better than that. Of all the hoes in the city, why you gotta fuck mine? And you tell that hoe Naveriah that I’ma kill her whenever I lay eyes on her ass.’ Just a whole bunch of shit.”
Dreka shook her head. “The sad part is that he means that shit and don’t give a fuck about being a recorded line. Did Mix threaten him back?”
“Not outright. He just told him that he knows how he’s coming, but he wouldn’t get specific like Save was. Save was talking reckless. He kinda hurt my feelings when I heard him say that he should’ve shot me when he had the chance. Like he’s really in that jail, thinking about taking my life.”
Tink shook her head. “These niggas are ruthless, man. All that dirt Save did, and he really believes in his heart that he has the right to kill you, because you hurt his feelings. Not even for a second is it registering to him that maybe he deserved any of this, and that he should’ve just moved on. Nah. He wanna kill a bitch.”
“I know, right,” Nunnie cleared her throat, as she glanced down at her cell.
Dreka narrowed her eyes. “You been peeking at that phone quite often. What’s going on?”
Tellie snickered. “You suspicious as fuck, man.”
“Nah,” Dreka denied. “I just know when my sister is on some bullshit.”
Nunnie rolled her eyes, as she placed 40 dollars on the table. “This is more than enough to cover my tab, yall. I gotta go.” She stood up.
Dreka twisted her lips. “See, I knew it. That’s why your ass was stuffing your face. Trying to rush out of here. You done let that nigga put a clock on you. And you left with me. He couldn’t even wait for me to drop you off?”
“There’s no clock on anything. He was just heading to t
he lil’ function we were invited to and he stopped by to pick me up. Otherwise, we would’ve missed each other, with you dropping me off and all. I would’ve gotten dropped off, right after he’d just left for the evening. That’s all.” She shrugged.
“Well, we was planning on going to a hookah lounge after this. So, go out there and tell him that you’ll just meet up with him at home tonight,” Dreka suggested.
“No. He’s already here. I’ma just go with him,” Nunnie declared, as her cell rang. Glimpsing at the screen, she picked up. “I’m coming outside, right now.”
Smoothly, Dreka yanked the phone out of her grasp, and placed it to her face. “Actually, she wanted to know if you could go ahead without her. She wanna go with us to a hookah lounge.”
Mix sighed. “Dreka, chill out, man. Give Nunnie her phone back.”
“And then what?”
“What you mean?”
“If I give her the phone back, would you be alright with her going to the lounge, if she co-signed it herself?”
“Man,” he drawled.
“Hello,” she sang.
“Nah, man.”
“Nah, what?”
“Nah, I wouldn’t be alright with her going to no fucking lounge, because I’d feel like it’s something that your ass influenced. She hadn’t mentioned that shit on her own. She was cool with the plans we had. She texted me and said that she was ready for me to come get her. It aint like I’d cut her meal short or some shit. But when she say come, I’m coming. That’s that. And once I’m here, aint no changing of the minds. But really that aint here nor there. She aint going to no lounge. She never was. Whether that’s my decision or hers aint none of your business. The answer is the same, regardless.”
Sucking her teeth, Dreka handed Nunnie her cell back. “Bye.”
“Alright yall, I’m gone,” Nunnie announced, before switching off, not giving Dreka’s attitude a second thought.
Tink nudged Dreka’s side. “What did that nigga say on that phone?”
Dreka scratched her scalp. “That he done snatched Nunnie’s fucking soul and put it in his back pocket. He runs the fucking show now, and I just need to fall back.”
