“Hey! You decided to come hang out.” I jump up and hug her.

“Yeah, I was tired of being alone so I thought I’d come down here for a little bit,” she says.

“Well, we’re glad you came,” Minx tells her. “Come sit with us.”

More people start to show up. There are a bunch of men without cuts on. Those must be the hang arounds Minx was talking about. A couple of guys walk up to us. One is checking out Wren, who doesn’t even notice him, and the other has his eyes on me. I look over his shoulder and notice Shade is looking this way, so I decide to have some fun.

“Hey there, gorgeous,” the guy says to me. He’s not bad looking, but he’s no Shade. He has short blonde hair and green eyes and he’s not very muscular. “I’m Chris.”

“I’m Sienna,” I reply with a flirty smile. He grins like a cat that caught the canary. In your dreams, buddy. If looks could kill, Chris would be dead. Shade is glaring daggers at him.

“I haven’t seen you around here before. Is this your first party at the clubhouse,” Chris asks.

“Yeah, it is,” I say touching his arm. “I’ll be right back.” I turn to Minx and Wren.

“I’ll be back in a minute. I’m gonna go use the restroom,” I tell them. When I walk past Shade, he’s talking to Sketch. Shade lifts his head and locks eyes with me. I wink and look away. I walk into the bathroom, turn the light on and shut the door. I just needed a moment to myself— a moment without any eyes on me. Being in the same room as Shade and not talking to him is starting to get to me. There’s a knock on the door, causing me to jump.

“Sienna, it’s me.” Shade. I open the door. He takes up the whole doorway. My heart beats quicker.

“What do you want,” I ask with a touch of sass. The corner of his mouth tips up in a grin.

  “I came to collect.”

  “Collect what,” I ask.

“That ass. I owe you a few spankings or did you already forget? By the way, I’m adding one for that little stunt you pulled with that hang around.”

I smirk at him. “Aw, did that make you jealous? Nothing is happening between us with your sister out there.”

“She’s not. Sketch took her outside to talk,” he says. I glare at him.

“You set that up, didn’t you,” I ask. His grin turns into a full tooth smile. “Asshole.”

He takes one step toward me, putting himself right in my space. With his finger, he traces my jawline, from my ear to my chin. I fight back a chill.

  “Are you wet for me?”

“Nope.” I pop the p. “Dry as the Sahara.”

He looks me dead in the eye with his stupid half-smile. Just as he’s about to respond, someone behind him clears their throat. My heart drops, thinking it’s Wren. Shade turns around and it’s one of the cut bunnies. She’s looking at Shade with fuck me eyes. I roll mine and walk out of the bathroom. I barely get past him when he grabs ahold of my arm, stopping me in my tracks.

“Shade, I need to talk to you,” the cut bunny says.

“Not now, Porscha,” he says to her. I chuckle and she glares at me. “In fact, not ever.”

Shade gently tugs on my arm and guides me down the hallway. We stop in front of a door while he unlocks it, and then walk inside. I glance around. This must be his room. There are posters on the walls of different cars, American made and foreign. Other than that, it’s pretty bare. And clean. He shuts the door and I turn to face him. His arms are crossed over his chest. I lied when he asked if I was wet for him. Him being so close and not touching me, smelling his cologne— it was game over as soon as I opened that door. Now, standing in his room, he’s looking at me like he’s ready to throw me over his knee then toss me on his bed and have his way with me.

“Two things are gonna happen,” he says. “One, we’re gonna talk. Two, I’m gonna fuck that sass out of you. Not necessarily in that order.”

“What exactly is there that we need to talk about,” I ask.

“Us, this, whatever this is or has the potential to be.”

“I don’t do relationships,” I tell him. He’s looking at me like he’s trying to see inside my head.

“That’s something we can discuss,” he replies.

“I’ve never talked to anyone about it. Not even Wren,” I admit.

“There’s a first time for everything,” he says. He walks closer to me. Putting a hand on my waist, he pulls me toward him. “I’m gonna be completely honest with you. I’m not one to do relationships either, but something about you makes me want to.”

“Shut up and fuck me,” I tell him, not wanting to have this conversation now. He crashes his lips onto mine and slides his free hand along my neck and into my hair, gripping a handful. I moan into his mouth and he takes the opportunity to nibble on my bottom lip. I grind my hips against him. He chuckles, pulling back to look at my face.

“So fucking and then talking. Got it.” He smirks at me. Moving his hands up my hips, he slides my shirt over my head, taking a moment to admire my boobs. “I’d like to take my time and do this the right way with foreplay but we don’t have long.”

“Well, then get moving and fuck me already.” I grin at him.

“That fucking sass.” He pulls his shirt off while I take my leggings off. “So fucking beautiful.”

Shade grabs a condom out of his wallet before he removes his jeans and boxer briefs. I bite my lip. I wanted to suck his dick when I first saw it and I want to even more right now, but I’ll save that for another time. I hold my hand out and he hands me the condom. I wrap my fingers around his cock, pumping a couple of times. He drops his head back and moans. I slide the condom on him and lay back on the bed.

“You forgot something.” He climbs on the bed, pulls my panties down and tosses them to the floor. He slides a finger between my folds, causing me to moan.

“Dry as the Sahara,” he mocks. He looks me in the eye as he lifts his finger to his mouth, sucking my wetness off it. “Fuck, I wish we had more time. You taste amazing.”

I bite my lip to stop myself from moaning again. Grabbing his cock, he rubs the tip against my clit before pushing himself in, filling me up.

  He pauses. “Fuck you’re tight.”

“You’re gonna make me beg for this, aren’t you,” I ask him.

He grins at me. “Well, I wasn’t going to, but,” he says.

“Time. Running out,” I remind him. That sobers him up and he starts moving his hips.

“Harder,” I moan and he complies. I meet him thrust for thrust. He pinches my clit, making me yelp, then rubs his thumb against it. My release builds.

“You ready to come for me?”

I nod, unable to find my voice. He pumps his hips a couple more times.

“Let go, babe. Come for me.”

“Oh, fuck!” I moan out. Fireworks flash behind my eyes with the most intense release I’ve ever had. He follows right behind me, with my name on his lips. His forehead drops to mine.

“I don’t know what the fuck it is about you,” he says. He kisses my nose before moving off me, groaning in detest.

“Be right back,” he tells me as he walks into the bathroom, closing the door behind him. I take the opportunity to throw my clothes on, fluff my hair and leave his room. I was in there too long as it is. Hopefully, Wren didn’t notice how long I was gone.

As soon as I walk into the main room, I look for Wren. I don’t see her, but Minx, Rivet, and Cali are still playing pool.

“Have you seen Wren,” I ask Minx as I walk up to the table. She gives me a knowing look.

“She went outside with Sketch about twenty minutes ago. They haven’t come back,” she tells me. “Wren probably won’t.” I sit at the table next to her.

“You want to tell me where you were for the past twenty minutes?” She’s looking at me with a Cheshire cat grin. At that moment, Shade walks back into the main room. He glances around the room until his eyes land on mine.

  Shade

&
nbsp; I walk out of the bathroom and Sienna is gone. Walked out on me again. We’re going to have to have a talk about that. I throw my clothes on and head to the main room to search for her. I glance around the room until my eyes land on her, locking with hers. I smirk at her. She’s sitting with Minx by the pool tables. I notice Wren and Sketch are still gone and make my way toward Sienna.

“Hey Shade,” Minx greets me. I lift my chin at her and turn to Sienna.

  “We didn’t talk,” I state.

“Oh, we didn’t?” She feigns innocent. I shake my head with a shadow of a grin.

“I’ll leave you two to talk,” Minx says. She winks at Sienna and walks over to Raze, who happens to be sitting at a table a few feet away.

“Are we gonna talk about whatever this is?” I gesture between the two of us.

  “This isn’t anything,” she says.

“But it could be,” I tell her. She shifts in her seat like this conversation makes her uncomfortable. “I can get Wren’s approval tomorrow when I take her to lunch.”

“Wait until after Monday,” she says. “She’s already freaking out enough as it is.”

“Why? What’s Monday,” I ask her.

She sighs before responding. “She’s going to ask you if she and her boyfriend can come to your house for dinner Monday night,” she informs me.

“About damn time she brings this fucker over to meet me,” I say. Sienna is fidgeting with her hands. “What aren’t you telling me?”

“She asked me to be there too. She wants me to cook dinner for the four of us,” she tells me.

“If that piece of shit disrespects you in front of me, we’re gonna have a problem.” I didn’t mean to say that out loud. It kind of just fell out of my mouth. She’s looking at me in awe.

“Why Shade, are you saying you would defend my honor?” she teases.

“You’re damn right I would.” I wink at her and she smiles. Not a forced smile, but a genuine one that hits me like a shot of whiskey. My whiskey girl.

We spend the rest of the night enjoying each other’s company and playing pool with our friends.

The next day, I wake up to a text from Wren.

From Wren: Meet me at Rosie’s at 11 a.m.

I check the time, 10:15 a.m. Fuck. I take a quick shower and get dressed. I’m out the door by 10:45 a.m. Thankfully, it doesn’t take long to get to Rosie’s from the clubhouse. I pull into the parking lot with five minutes to spare. Of course, Wren is already here. I walk into the diner and glance around. She’s sitting in a booth to my left with her back toward the door.

“Hey, Shade,” Tink greets me. “Meeting with Wren?”

  “Yes, ma’am,” I reply.

“I’ll bring you a coffee.” She smiles at me before walking away. She probably knows I just woke up since we had a club party last night. Some of the guys made a tradition out of coming here the morning or afternoon after a big club party. I head over to the table Wren is at.

“Hey, lil sis,” I say as I sit across from her. “What happened to you last night?”

“I was tired. I didn’t want to stay out late,” she tells me. I know she’s lying. Sketch was involved, so she’ll avoid talking about it. “You didn’t bother Sienna, did you?”

  “Not at all.” I smirk.

Tink brings me my coffee. “Did y’all want to order something to eat,” she asks. We take our turns ordering food and Tink scurries off. Wren glares at me.

“So what did you want to talk about?”

“Who says I wanted to talk about anything? Can’t I just want to spend time with my baby sister,” I ask her.

“First of all, I’m not a baby. Second, you never want to spend time with me,” she spits out.

“That’s not true, Wren, and you know it.”

She looks out the window, avoiding eye contact. Neither of us says anything for a couple of minutes.

“What do you think of Zack and I coming over for dinner tomorrow night?” she finally breaks the silence, still avoiding looking at me.

“I’m gonna go out on a limb and assume Zack is your boyfriend?” This causes her to look at me and I smile at her. “I would love for y’all to come over.”

“How would you feel if Sienna came too?” She’s giving me her sweet, little doe eyes like she does any time she’s trying to get something from me.

“She can come too,” I tell her.

A smile stretches across her face. “Thanks, Bubba,” she says.

“Anything for you, Wren,” I reply.

“Just . . .” she pauses. “Please don’t scare him away.”

“Is that the reason you haven’t brought him around,” I ask. She slowly nods her head. “Wren, if this guy makes you happy and treats you right, there won’t be any issues.”

“Well, he does.” She smiles. It doesn’t completely reach her eyes, but I don’t press for more. I don’t want her to shut down on me. “So, we haven’t really talked much recently. How was your race the other night,” she asks.

I grin. “It was such a fucking rush. The guys who put the circuit together were impressed with how well I handled the car,” I gush.

“As they should be,” she states. “You’ve always been great with cars.”

  “Thanks, Wren.”

“I’m only sorry I fell asleep and didn’t watch you win,” she admits.

I chuckle. “It’s okay. You didn’t miss much,” I assure her. I’m honestly glad she missed seeing me get chased by the cops. She would have lost her shit.

Wren shrugs. “Regardless, I’m really proud of you. You better tell me when you get invited to another circuit,” she demands. When not if.

“Of course,” I promise her. Wren has always been my biggest fan and my loudest cheerleader, even if it was something she didn’t always agree with. Mom used to be that way too until Pops had something to say about it. “So, tell me about Sienna. Y’all seem so different. How’d you even meet her?”

Tink brings our food out to us and walks away as soon as she knows we’re good.

“Mom and I were visiting before I moved down here. We were touring the campus and came across an announcement board. Sienna had an ad looking for a roommate and I called about it,” she explains to me.

“That’s pretty lucky,” I tell her.

“For me it was. For her, I was the fifth person to call about it. I was so nervous,” she admits. “In most cases, we are complete opposites, but we clicked instantly. Somehow, it’s worked all this time.”

“She seems like good people,” I tell her.

“She really is,” Wren says with a smile. While we finish our lunch, we talk about the classes Wren’s taking and she updates me on how our mom is doing, then we go our separate ways.

  Chapter Fifteen

  Sienna

Wren doesn’t get off work until 5 p.m. today. She told me to meet her at Shade’s house at six and we can eat around seven. Right now, I’m scavenging my closet for the perfect outfit. I choose skinny jeans with a black, flowy racerback tank top paired with rose gold, Greek-style sandals— cute, but casual. I put my hair in a low messy bun and put on a touch of makeup. A couple swipes of mascara, some blush, and a classic red matte lipstick and I’m good to go.

Once I’m ready, I grab my purse and head out the door. It only takes around twenty minutes to get to Shade’s house and I freak out the entire time. I’m back in high school and going on my first date. This definitely isn’t high school and this isn’t even a date. This is me, supporting my best friend as she introduces her boyfriend to her brother for the first time. All that my mind wants to concentrate on is seeing Shade. For the first time in my life, I’ve found a guy who gives me butterflies. I crave more of him and not in a sexual way. Though I do want more of that, I find myself wanting to know more about him. Things he likes and dislikes, everything, but I’m terrified.

After what happened to me when I was younger, I made a point to never get close enough to a guy to where he could get into my heart. I
’ve also never slept with a guy more than once and I like it that way. Well, I did like it that way until I met Shade. Some people might think I’m a whore for only sleeping with a man once then moving on to the next. I always looked at it as I was protecting myself and said fuck what anyone else thinks.

I didn’t bother checking the time before I left the apartment. I arrive at Shade’s fifteen minutes early. I can’t sit in my car since I brought groceries with me. I climb out of my car, grab the groceries and head to the front door. The front door opens as I get close.

“You’re early.” Shade is smirking at me.

“I didn’t realize what time it was when I walked out the door,” I admit.

“That’s alright. Come on in. Let me take those.” He takes the bags out of my hands and gestures for me to walk inside. He closes the door behind me. “The kitchen is straight ahead.”

I walk into the kitchen and glance around. It’s a good-sized kitchen. Bigger than the one at the apartment. Shade sets the groceries on the counter and I start unloading them.

“What are you cooking for dinner,” he asks.

“Chicken fettuccine alfredo,” I reply. “Wren told me it was her favorite.” Shade is smirking at me. “What,” I ask.

“That’s my favorite, too,” he says. He glances at the groceries I unpacked. “There’s no alfredo sauce.”

“I know. I make it from scratch,” I tell him.

He gapes at me. “You’re fucking with me.”

“Not at all. Cooking was something I had to learn at a young age. It came naturally to me and I ended up teaching myself all kinds of recipes,” I admit to him.

“It’s a good trait to have. When I moved out of my parents’ house to Arizona, I had to teach myself some things in the kitchen.” he laughs. “I’m still not very good at it.”

“Maybe if you play your cards right, I can teach you a trick or two,” I tease him.

“What are we talking about? Texas Hold ‘Em? Blackjack? I’m pretty good at all of them, so I’d say the odds are in my favor.” He winks at me.
