"Stringy wild meat, but no doubt still tasty," he breathed into her ear. "I'm no longer thirsty, but I'm very, very hungry. I don't think I'll even leave anything for the buzzards to pick."
His oily scent was like a rutting gazelle, pungent and heady. Taberah heard the wildly ringing bronze danglers on her belt as if they were very far away but the ripping of her dress was both loud in her ears and wrenching against her body. He pinned her dagger against her and almost broke her fingers wrenching her rod and sling out of her hand. He was so powerful and so fast.
Taberah couldn't turn her head in his bear's paw grip. His fingers even pried her eyes open so she had to look into his eyes as he kept separating her dress further down the middle. She spat at him and he yanked out a handful of hair and buried her mouth with his, his other hand running down her body hard and heavy.
At first Taberah thought he was some kind of demon when a third hand appeared alongside his thickly-muscled neck. She found this third hand fascinating, even while suffocating under her attacker's mouth and feeling his brutal hand probing a path down her front.
It slid under his chin and out of her sight line, but a fourth one appeared above his head, cupped his forehead, and jerked sharply to one side. The man's eyes actually clouded up right in front of hers and his mouth went flaccid. The hands on her body relaxed but his weight was too great for her to unpin herself. Then the extra pair of hands grabbed a hank of perfumed hair and a fistful of purple robe and flung the attacker off her.
Taberah scooted back and up onto her feet, scrabbling for her knife, rod and sling and staring at the young man who stood over the attacker. She saw that he was watching the man die, and did not give her a glance until the spasms of movement completely ceased. Taberah gathered together the tears in her dress and cinched her belt far too tightly even though she saw that he had no interest in her. Just as she finished making herself as decent as she could he turned his eyes to look at her.
The Edge Books
He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.” Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” (Jn 8:10-11 NKJ)
