Jasmine's Joy (Mach'Doshna Book 2) Page 11

by Lynn Daniels

The Doshna all relaxed when they realized the females were in no real danger from this gentle giant.

“Awe, look at … is it a girl or a boy?” Jasmine stopped just in front of Kat’arina and stared with wonder at the tiny child in her arms.

C’olan answered for her, “Behold my daughter, Co’lina”

Kat’arina laughed, “You know you had no part in putting this babe inside of me.”

C’olan pulled her closer, “You are mine, therefore she is mine.”

Kat’arina looked up into his sparkling eyes, one green, one blue, and grinned, then pursed her lips for a kiss.

Jos’eph stepped up behind the two women and stared down at the beautiful baby girl in her mother’s arms. He watched in amazement as pale coral scales rippled across her skin. In a low voice he marveled, “This should be interesting.”

“You claim her as yours, your mate, your daughter, and you give her your heritage. But, what of her sons? Do you claim them as well?”

C’olan looked down at the sleepy Mach, gazing up at him.

Ki’zander stared up at Jos’eph, who had promised to be his dad, then at the new Doshna standing there with his mother, claiming his baby sister. Again, he found himself wondering if anyone wanted him. A tear slipped down is little cheek, then fell to the ground as he sniffled.

Jasmine knelt next to the boy who had claimed her heart. “You know, we’re all going to fight over who gets to keep you, don’t you?”

“You are?” His little red rimmed eyes looked up at her as a smile overtook his face.

She nodded, then noticed something on the ground. It seemed that instead of seeping into the ground, Zander’s tear stood, solid on a single blade of grass.

“What’s this?” She picked it up, then held it in the palm of her hand. A loud gasp had her looking from what appeared to be a small diamond up into the dark blue eyes of Kat’arina.

Kat’arina looked up at C’olan, “Do you know what this means?”

“It means that this young boy is mine to train as the most powerful warrior the lands will have ever seen.” C’olan knelt beside Ki’zander and pulled him into his arms, then looked up at Jos’eph.

Jos’eph nodded once, “Quickly, bring him to the castle. No one must know what has happened.” He glanced behind him to the warriors standing at the bottom of the small hill. The wind was blowing in the direction of the castle, so with any luck, his words followed. He then closed Jasmine’s fist around the small diamond and gave her a stern look.

She nodded her understanding as she slipped the diamond into the hip pocket of her jeans.

Jos’eph roared as he took the form of his beast, followed closely by his sons and then C’olan. Behind them Ki’zander’s Mach, took his mother and baby sister into his large talons and flew toward the castle ahead, but managed to stay behind the king, so he would be safe from attack by the other Doshna who guarded the castle.

The moment Jos’eph crossed the bridge, he ordered it closed, and all his closest generals and sons to his ready room. They must prepare. The world as they knew it was about to change forever.

  Chapter 39

  Mount Olympus

Aphrodite looked down at the two Goddess’s who had brought this problem to her. She was happy to have found a solution that made everyone happy, but she really just wanted them to leave her alone. It had been thousands of years since she had been so busy. Much more of this and she would have to call in someone to help her.

“Are you satisfied with the results? Jasmine is safe with Jo’siah in Mach’Doshna. I just have one request from the two of you.”

“Yes, Aphrodite?” Brizo smiled up at the beautiful Goddess that she had inspired to be more like.

“Should you have a problem in the future, perhaps you should take it to Zeus?”

Both Brizo and Até shuddered at the thought of having to take anything to Zeus. He wasn’t known for his patience, or his kindness. It seemed for the past ten-thousand years, he just wanted to be left alone.

Aphrodite raised one brow, then crossed her arms, waiting for their answer.

“Yes, Goddess.” They chimed in unison, praying that such a day would never happen.

“Very well, off with you then.”

She stood watching as the two minor Goddess’s stepped out her door and vanished. She felt exhausted as she half stumbled over to her bed, then collapsed on top of it, ready to take a long overdue nap.

A loud thunderbolt disturbed her peace just before Ares appeared beside her bed.

“Really? Seriously? Why, oh why are you here?” She didn’t even bother to sit up. Aphrodite just laid her wrist across her eyes and shook her head.

“Did you not just see what happened?” Ares stared down at the Goddess he had the least respect for. He was the God of war, and he had very little time for the Goddess of love and beauty. The two were as far apart as the worlds they watched over.

She waved her other hand around, “Could you please just take it up with someone else? I’m exhausted. I’ve had to rescue and transport two humans onto a far distant world.”

“And who would you suggest I speak to?”

A peek at book three: C’olan’s Companion:

  Chapter 1

  Mount Olympus

Aphrodite had just about all she could stand of the affairs of the mortals. Now here was Ares, not a minor God this time, as before, but one on a level plane with her, demanding she help him.

“You’re a God, fix it yourself!”

A look of disgust crossed his face, “I am the God of war, I do not have time for matters of the heart.”

She sat up on her elbows, giving up on the idea of a brief nap. “And so…why are you here?”

“I must oversee the training of this youth. He will be the next great king of the Mach! He will have to confront his brother, then take the throne. It will surely be th
e grandest battle in the history of Mach’Doshna!”

“Again…” She waved her hands through the air, ready to be through with this.

He cleared his throat, looked away, then mumbled, “The pair must mate before I can intervene. Once they mate, a child will be born. This child will mate with one who will become Ki’zander’s second. He will be instrumental in uniting the Doshna and the Mach. If that doesn’t happen, the world of Mach’Doshna will fall into chaos. Many will perish.

Aphrodite’s head dropped back on her shoulders as she stared up at the ceiling, she was muttering to herself.

Finally, she sat up, stared at him through bleary eyes, “Nope.”

“What do you mean, nope? You can’t turn me away! You’re the Goddess of love, you—”

“I’m not the only one!” She shouted as she rose from the bed, jabbing her finger into his chest over and over.

“This is not very becoming of the Goddess of Love.” He stared down at the long-manicured finger that speared him over and over.

“Do you know it has been nearly three weeks since I have slept? I’m just not feeling the love right now!”

She walked over to her door, opened it, then whispered a few words. A moment later a Goddess stormed through the door. She had long flowing blonde hair, and she was dressed from head to foot in armor. She had to be at least six and a half feet tall. She was exquisite.

Aphrodite walked by the two, “Ares, allow me to introduce Freya, the Norse Goddess of love…oh and war, death, and all the other things that make you hard.”

Thank you for reading about Jasmine. She was a breath of fresh air, and she knew how to dream, and dream big. It was amazing that she had planned to make sure her dream would continue with or without her.
