Assassins & Mob Wives: Couples Retreat Page 21

Beads of sweat dripped down his forehead.

“No, fuck that.” He waved his gun around. “We don’t trust you bitches.”

That was the last time I’d allow that piece of shit to call us bitches.

“We don’t want to clean up brain matter.” I pouted.

Quavo’s eyes darkened. “Fuck this. Unload on these hoes.”

My heartbeat thudded my ears. Guess it would be a bloodbath.

  Pip, pip, pip. Pip, pip.

I blinked, and the guys were gripping a limb or abdomen. We moved in quick clearing their weapons.

  I exhaled. “Thanks girls.”

“No problem. We’re coming down. Over and out,” Nadine stated.

“Keep your heads down. We can’t afford anyone to see our faces.”

“Got it, Tamara.” Carmen winked, pulling zip ties from her inner jacket pocket.

I tugged the zip ties tight around Quavo’s wrists. My knee dug into the crimson blood pooling on his torso. “How are you feeling? Good right?” I grinned. My fist slid across his jaw.

  “Ah,” he whimpered.

“That’s for calling us bitches. Oh, and we didn’t have any intentions on paying you.”

The girls and I peeked at each other laughing.

“Yeah, we had twenty thousand in cash lying on top of blouses and T-shirts,” Emoni stuck her tongue out.

Sierra and Emoni kept watch on the guys. The rest of us loaded the crates on the bed of the truck.

Standing over Quavo, I grabbed his collar and dragged him to his truck.

The girls did the same with the other guys.

Waving our guns in their faces, we ordered them inside the rear seat.

“Tamara, we’ll scoop up any evidence and meet you guys out front.” Sydney tugged her cap closer to her eyes.

Zoey patted my shoulder then walked back toward the bloody scene.

Thirty minutes later we dumped the fuckers in a remote area after we kicked the ever-loving shit out of their asses.

  CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

  SAMANTHA

  ASSASSIN WIFE

ROLLING TO A STOP ON the tarmac, I hopped out of the pickup truck. Back flush with the side frame, I trailed my index finger along my pasty cheek. The sleek fighter jets caught my attention. The one I was most captivated by was the C-130 Hercules. A handful of times Hunter and I sat with our fathers on one of those. We were excited to say the least to fly home after a mission on the cool piece of machinery.

Our friends had no idea how much saving their lives cost us. James and Jake loved every time we asked for help getting out of a bind. That meant more missions we’d have to perform for our country.

The President and our dads could send us out to save the world anytime they warranted.

This was our life. My phone buzzed in my pocket.

Nadine fell beside me. “Does your skin ever get hot under that mask?”

  I glanced at the screen.

Jacob: SAMANTHA answer the phone! How could you do what you did without me?

His words struck my heart like a ping-pong ball slapping a paddle. The urge to grip my chest seized when I glanced into Nadine’s pretty slanted eyes.

“Not anymore. The new material we use is breathable. I just didn’t want to be anyone other than myself on this vacation.”

A chuckle rolled past my lips. “Tony helped me clean up a lot of loose ends all over the world.” I dropped my head, reminiscing on the time we disposed of Amber. Tony working with Jacob and I was always a treat.

We’d work together again soon. The President could utilize anyone in our circle at his leisure. That was the beauty of being the best. Those pulling the strings knew we only hung with infamous killers. Who better to use to kill for this country? We’re talking Black Ops missions. We weren’t CIA. Nope. Skylar and Hunter were ghosts.

  “Those missions gave Tony purpose.”

“Good because he’ll gain purpose again and again soon.” My lips teetered up and down.

  “More missions.” She sighed.

A tactical truck the color of sand drove toward us. Nadine slipped her aviators over her eyes and tugged her baseball cap lower over her blonde wig. They didn’t need to know who my friends were. The government loved to use people to their advantage. Not today. Sydney and Zoey waited up the road for us. The rest of the girls relaxed at the hotel. It was better this way.

Fisting my hands, sweat crawled over my fingers inside my black gloves.

An older gentleman climbed out of the passenger side of the truck. I walked toward him and the other officer falling at his side.

I stretched my hand out. “Good afternoon, Major Knox. My name is Skylar.”

He shook my hand and cracked a smirk under the gray camouflage cap that matched his uniform.

“Nice to meet you.” He placed his hands behind his back.

I peeked at the guy beside him. My eyes glazed over his name tag that read Jennings. His caramel skin mirrored mine. Although he didn’t need to know that. If I pulled off one of my gloves, he would. His lips were thick lines attached to that clenched jaw.

“Good afternoon, Skylar.” Jennings strong hand clutched mine.

  “Nice to meet you both.”

  “Did you have any problems?”

  “Not any I didn’t foresee.”

“Jennings, you and the men unload the package.”

“Yes, sir.” His deep voice boomed.

“I’ve included an extra crate of Glocks the target attempted to sell to me.”

  “What happened to the maggots?”

“I left them bleeding out, zip tied in a deserted part of town.” I retrieved a piece of paper from my pocket. “Here are the coordinates where you can find them.” I placed the paper in his hand.

His blue eyes met mine. “They’re alive?”

“They were when I left them. Knox said I could do as I wish with them. We made them suffer. They had sick plans for me. I hope they die of thirst and get eaten alive by snakes.”

His dark brows rose. “Sounds like they pissed you off.”

  “To say the least, sir.”

I peeked at the airmen carrying the last crate toward their truck.

“Thanks for the weapons. We’ll put them to good use.”

“I know you will, Major Knox.”

  We shook hands.

“Hope to work with you again in the future.”

My nose wrinkled. “No offense, but I hope not, sir. Enjoy your afternoon.”

He chuckled. “That’s fair. You too, Skylar.”

I turned on my heels and released a breath. The sun slapped my back, cooking my skin under the gear. I couldn’t wait to soak in a hot silky bubble bath. My heart slamming against my ribcage wouldn’t halt until I felt safe far away from here.

  ∞

My ass hit the floor the moment I closed the hotel room door. Bath and an hour of sleep was all I needed. Heavy footsteps fell against the bathroom tile floor. The pounding in my chest erupted again. Tell me they didn’t follow me back to my room. I didn’t want to kill anyone tonight. That’s a first.

  I reached for my Glock.

“No need for that.” His deep hypnotic vocals swept through me, causing a storm in my belly.

My throat bobbed as I placed my Glock back in the holster.

His green eyes held bitterness. “I’d say we’ve been through more in our five years together than some married for twenty years.”

  “Almost five years,” I mumbled.

  “What?” His brown brows dipped.

“It will be five years in September.”

My nose turned upward as I sniffed the air. “What’s that?”

I swayed to my feet. The smell of peaches dangled under my nose. My lips rose and fell.

He ran a bath filled with my favorite bubble bath. “Thank you.” I stalked past him into the bathroom.

I marveled at the steam rising from the tub.

“What happened to the agreement we made? Did yo
u forget it?” his words slammed against my back like a freight train.

Jacob stepped in front of me. “We carry out missions together or not at all?” His cold eyes stared through me.

He held his phone in my face. “I’m ok” was your response. That’s it, Samantha?”

I shrugged out of my jacket. “Dad asked me to complete the mission.”

He closed the space between us. I inhaled sharply as I stared up at him. Surges of electricity struck every inch of my body.

Never taking his eyes off of me, he removed each Glock from my holsters and placed them on the counter. “I will deal with your father tomorrow,” he scowled.

  “How did you find out?”

  “Charlotte.”

  My heart sank. “What?”

“She called from her iPad. Said mommy has a small job to do.”

My hand flew over my mouth. “I thought she went upstairs.”

  Jacob removed my bullet-proof vest.

“I don’t know where she was when she eavesdropped. My dad confirmed what Charlotte said was true.”

He squeezed the nape of my neck. His nose slid over my cheek. “Remove the prosthetics.”

Tossing my gloves aside, I stepped back and slowly peeled the mask away. The wig and hat fell to the floor. He snatched the mask from my hand and threw it on the oblong counter. My eyes darted between his.

“Do you want a divorce?” His hand returned to the back of my neck.

Felt like he yanked my heart from my chest. “What? No.”

“Samantha, we don’t perform jobs separately. I won’t fucking say it again.” He released me. I felt empty without him near.

Jacob sat on the edge of the tub and ripped off his green blazer.

“Get over here.” His voice rumbled in his heaving chest under his tan T-shirt. Jacob’s legs widened.

I didn’t hesitate to stand before him. My eyes peeked at the tub, brimming with bubbles.

Jacob unsnapped my jeans. His hands grazed the raised imprints on my belly the guns left behind. I yanked the T-shirt over my head. Jacob pressed his lips against my stomach.

The nerve endings shot to life under his soft lips.

  “You’re never leaving me again.”

My eyes closed as my heart sank. I threaded my fingers through his perfect brown hair. “There’s no such thing as divorce for us, Jacob.”

He yanked my pants down my legs. “You’re my fucking wife, Samantha. You and our children are my highest priority. Fuck being an actor. I told you too many times I’d walk away.”

“And I told you I wouldn’t let you.”

He dropped his head and his gorgeous locks fell forward too. Jacob sported his hair longer in the top lately. I wasn’t sure how long he’d keep his hair this length. I’d enjoy it while I could.

His fingers clenched my ass cheeks. Jacob inhaled my mound.

“Jacob, I smell awful. I’ve been in the woods half the day.”

“Not to me. You smell like mine.” He untied then removed my boots and socks.

  “You’re exhausted.”

“Doesn’t matter. Won’t stop me from going out tonight, Jacob.”

He hooked his thumbs in the waistband of my panties and shoved them over my ass. I unhooked my bra and flung it aside.

“I know, Samantha.” Jacob whipped his T-shirt over his head. “I have zero intentions on fucking you. So don’t worry.” He kicked off his brown loafers.

  “Why?” my lips tightened.

  “You know why.”

Our eyes locked as he stood. The sound of his heavy hand slapping my ass cracked through the air.

“Ouch.” My nipples hardened as I dug my nails into his shoulders.

“That’s for completing that mission without me.”

I slipped my hands into his boxers and squeezed his ass.

His brow arched. “What did I say?”

“No dick for me.” I pouted as I pushed his boxers to the floor.

Jacob stepped into the piping scalding water and stretched his hand toward me. “Come here.”

I placed my palm in his and climbed inside.

“After I wash your beautiful caramel brown skin, you can fall asleep in my arms.”

His muscled frame submerged into the sudsy hot water. I sank against his chest.

“I want to torture your father.”

  “He’s our children's grandfather.”

“So what. He knew you weren’t to perform a mission without me. All he had to do was speak with us both.”

“But Jacob, I was here with the girls. We were more than capable.”

“We’ll talk about you placing them in harm's way later.”

He circled the wash cloth over my tummy.

  “We can handle ourselves.”

“I know that, but their husbands had no idea they planned to participate in that mission with you.”

“They could have told their husbands. I didn’t ask them to keep it a secret,” I lied.

Just reveal the mission to their husbands after it was completed.

Jacob halted his hand movements. He peeked into my eyes and lowered his fingers between my legs. “What did they say when you told them you weren’t telling me?”

Pleasure crawled over every inch of my body. “Don’t stop moving your fingers.” I bit the corner of my lip.

I’d learned how to handle intense interrogation in case I was captured, but I’d crack under my husband’s brooding glare. “Jacob, I survived while carrying the twins in Alaska. You know I’m capable of handling missions alone.”

His fingers slipped from my core.

  Fuck, he’s pissed.

“I’m aware you’re the best. You are the person I want by my side in battle. You were kidnapped twice right?”

“And who’s fault was that?” I growled.

He shoved his tongue between my lips. “Mine,” he whispered. Tears welled in my eyes. I hated hearing the truth.

  “Samantha, the defiance stops now.”

His cock strained against my side.

My fingers splayed the back of his neck. “I was wrong for completing the mission without you. It won’t happen again. And I shouldn’t have held a grudge against you all week.”

He turned my body forward and continued circling the washcloth over my silky skin. Jacob didn’t believe me.

His lips pressed against my neck. “Don’t do it again, Samantha. I love you.”

He smelled so fucking good. I could ride his cock all night.

“Do you love me enough to make me come?” I squeezed my lids shut, awaiting his answer.

“I love you with every beat of my heart, but I won’t allow you to get off that easy. Now swing your foot up here so I can wash those pretty toes.”

I chuckled. “Jacob, you would’ve been proud of us today.”

His deep laughter bounced off the walls. “I’m always proud of you, baby.” He hugged me tighter.

“I just can’t bear to lose you again.”

My nose nuzzled into his neck. “Baby, tomorrow don’t deny me.”

“Oh, like you did the other day.”

“Then you took what you wanted.”

“I took what was mine,” he growled against my flesh.

Yes, he did. I loved every minute he was deep inside of me. My fingers caressed his stubbled face. “Always yours.”

“Don’t ever allow another man to touch you like you did today, Mrs. Latters.”

Shivers swept over my spine like pine needles. I pushed against his arms to break free.

  “Relax.” Jacob kissed my temple.

Shit, did the Major find the guys alive or dead?

  CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

  SAMANTHA

  ASSASSIN WIFE

WOLFING DOWN ANOTHER vodka on the rocks, I peeked into their wondering eyes, reclined in the captain’s chair on the luxury coach.

  “What did Jacob say?”

“I’ve been a bad girl. My hubby refused to fuck me or make me come.”

“You’re lucky that’s all he did.” Sydney shook her empty glass in the air. The ice rattled around.

“He spanked me too.” I rubbed my ass.

  The girls burst into laughter.

“Sounds like someone will be on their knees for the rest of the vacation.” Nadine stuck her tongue out.

“Bitch, if I’m not mistaken, you all are in trouble too.” I wiggled my empty glass at Carmen.

“I never told you guys not to tell your husbands’ we were headed on a mission.”

She poured a generous stream of vodka in my glass.

“They told us no killing. How could we say, by the way babe we’re going on a mission with Sam. There may or may not be killing involved.”

“We didn’t kill anyone.” I slapped my ponytail to one side. “I wouldn’t be surprised if our husbands did.”

Emoni shot to her feet. “What do you mean? They were there?”

“I’m not sure. It may have only been Jacob. He was somewhere in the mountains, watching. He saw that asshole touch me.”

“I’m in the clear.” Sydney sipped her vodka. “We go on missions all the time.”

I cocked my head to the side. “Sydney, you’re right but we’re often with Jacob and Sebastian.”

Sierra dropped her face in her palms. “Dillon will flip tomorrow.”

Scooting to the edge of my seat, I met her gaze. “Wait, are you telling me you didn’t tell Dillon?”

  “No.”

I threw my hand in the air. “You’re aware he knows right?”

“Yes. I want to dance. Let’s go.” She polished off the vodka, then slammed the glass on the table.

We followed Sierra off the bus.

Arms weaved through each other’s, we swayed our hips, and strutted into the bar in our custom cowboy boots. The dark jeans were subtle, but the colorful plaid shirts added to the line dancing theme we planned for tonight. The only thing missing were the cowboy hats we saved for tomorrow.

The country music pulsated my insides as I scanned the room. Was it me or did every person stop what they were doing and stare at us?

White people staring wasn’t foreign. I inspected our surroundings. There were two black waitresses. Guess they made their quota. I could have sworn when I looked this place up on line there were black people line dancing. It was early. Maybe they’d arrive soon. The smell of varnish hit my nose as we approached the bar.
