Catching an Evil Tail Page 26

by Mary Abshire

  "Dani!" I barked.

She laughed. "Relax. I wouldn't do that."

Taking me by surprise, she wrapped her arms around me. "You're my best friend. Nothing will change that, no matter what you are. Your secret is sealed in the vault." She hugged me tightly.

As I squeezed her back, I thanked God for putting Dani in my crazy life. She was one of the few people I could count on, and now that she accepted me as a half-demon, I knew our friendship would last through thick and thin. Her acceptance of me was the perfect ending to my exhausting weekend.

My spirit soared with joy. Now that I had approval and support from my best friend, I could focus on my training with Jeremy, my meeting with the VETOV, and my relationship with Drake. Though I still had to inform Dani about Jeremy moving in with us temporarily, I felt confident she would be accommodating. I certainly had challenges to work through, but for now, I'd take the happiness where I could find it, and whatever hurdles popped up tomorrow, I'd face them head on.
