Incendiary (Inferno Book 5) Page 6

by Yolanda Olson

I give Skylar a once over, then drop my hand from my stomach when I realize she’s looking at me curiously.

“Alright, let’s get you married,” I say, holding out a hand to her.

I instruct Skylar to stay at the top of the staircase while I head down to find her brother.

I check the living room first, becoming agitated when he’s not there, then the kitchen, and tell myself it’s not worth losing my shit over when that room is empty too.

“Richter!” My voice cracks the air like a clap of thunder, but at least I know he won’t have any issues hearing me.

“I’m in the dining room,” he calls back timidly.

I run a hand back through my hair as I cross the kitchen, walk by the living room, until I find him in his usual chair.

“What the fuck are you doing in here?” I ask.

“This is where everything has happened so far. I just thought—”

“Stay put,” I say, cutting him off with an eye roll.

I take a deep breath as I retrace my steps to the staircase where I find Skylar sitting on the top step.

“Come down,” I say to her as patiently as I can.

I watch as my baby girl descends the stairs with so much life inside of her that I wonder why I never decided to make her my wife instead.

I know I still have it in me to be a good husband, but she’s tainted to me.

  She’s Darby’s daughter.

  She’s wearing Taylee’s outfit.

I would never be able to be everything she needs with all of that weighing on me, so it only makes sense to leave that to her brother.

When she reaches the bottom of the staircase, she extends a hand out to me with a smile on her face.

  I grind my teeth thoughtfully.

Skylar’s never really trusted me enough before to reach for my hand as much as she has lately.

Maybe Taylee had something going for her when she wore this goddamn thing. She was almost always normal whenever she had it on.

As normal as she could be anyway.

I caught her fucking herself once when she had it on.

Other times, she would babble her little prayers and hope for a better day.

Or maybe I’m just looking too much into this shit and should get it over and done with already.

I close my hand around hers and walk her into the living room.

Richter thinks he’s so fucking smart by being in the dining room right now where he and his sister have diddled each other on the table, but the only place they’ll learn to be true members of this family is the same place I learned.

“Sit here and wait,” I tell Skylar, nodding toward the couch.

  Chapter Twenty

I’m leaning against the living room wall watching them stare at each other.

Richter’s looking at his sister like he’s seeing her for the first time, and it makes me snicker.

“You look so pretty in that, Sky,” he tells her shyly.

“Thanks,” she replies with a smile as a blush creeps across her cheeks.

  I roll my eyes.

They can do this lovey-dovey shit later.

“I’ve prepped you both enough on how to get each other hard and wet respectively,” I begin as I push off the wall. “But the only way you’re going to be able to carry on the family name is to start fucking.”

They both turn to look at me with startled expressions and I suck my teeth.

“What? You thought sucking his dick would get you pregnant? Maybe you’re still too young for this shit after all.”

  “We’re not,” Richter replies hotly.

“Right,” I say sarcastically. “Anyway, that couch you’re standing in front of? It’s the same one where I learned what it truly means to be a Greene. It’s where your grandmother and mother learned too. Only this time, I’m not going to interfere. I’m giving you to each other, but you have to promise me something.”

They exchange a look before turning their attention back to me.

“You keep this line going and you keep it pure. I think the reason all you bastards were so fucking defiant is because of Laura. But I’ve done my best to fix that and ever since your grandmother, it’s been Greene women only. Can you promise me that?” I ask as I cross my arms over my chest.

  “I promise, Dad.”

It doesn’t surprise me that the boy is the first to answer. He wants to prove to me that he’s a man. One that’s fully capable of carrying on the Greene name and doing right by me.

  “Okay, Daddy.”

My eyes flit toward the girl.

She seems a little more subdued and less sure than her brother.

Perhaps she thinks that one day I’ll turn my back or fold my hand on this life, and she’ll be able to do whatever the fuck she wants.

But as long as he’s on my side, I know she won’t get too far.

With a nod, I walk over to them and look down at Skylar.

I push her hair behind her ears, straighten Taylee’s veil on her head, then lean down and press my lips against hers.

It’s customary for the father of a bride to be able to give her away, and that’s one tradition I don’t want to break.

Not when it’s something as important as this.

I put a hand on either side of her face, and when I pull away from her, she has tears in her eyes.

It has nothing to do with love and everything to do with me touching her.

This girl never loved me, and she never will.

Giving her a gentle enough shove to push her onto the couch, I drop to one knee in front of her and slip a hand up Taylee’s tunic.

I smirk when I brush my fingers against her panties, because even with all of the hate she has for me, she still gets wet for her Daddy.

I slip her panties aside, keeping my eyes trained on hers, and when she gasps slightly, I very gently run the tip of my finger down her slit.

It could be so easy right now to take away something that Richter has rights too.

Just one slip of the finger and she could be mine.

I shake my head as I get to my feet and look at the boy.

  “She’s ready for you.”

“I don’t know how to do this,” he tells me as he rubs the back of his neck nervously.

“You will once you get your dick in her,” I assure him with a smirk.

I lean a hand against the wall and watch as he takes his shirt off, then his pants. It takes him a few seconds before he’s brave enough to take his boxers off, but when he does, I can see he’s already getting hard.

“Give it a tug. You don’t want to go in unless you’re completely hard. It’ll fuck up the experience for both of you,” I instruct him with a nod.

Richter looks at me nervously before he reaches down and fumbles for his dick.

  I roll my eyes.

“I do have other things I need to do today,” I bark at him.

He takes a deep breath as he moves to stand in front of his sister.

She has her eyes on him now, and only him, as any good wife should.

It’s when she pulls up the bottom of the tunic that I find myself becoming angry.

The way she does it is exactly the same, slow way that Taylee did.

That bitch flashed her pussy at me more than once, and even though it didn’t result me in fucking her every time, she sure as fuck let me know when she was in the mood.

I reach over and slap her hand violently, then whip up the tunic the rest of the way.

She looks up at me in confusion as tears sting her eyes and I hold up a warning finger.

“We aren’t here to watch you be a fucking whore. You’re supposed to be a good girl. Act like one.”

“I’m sorry, Daddy,” she says quietly, and I reach over and slap the boy in the back of the head.

“Get moving,” I tell him when he gives me an outraged look.

Taking a deep breath, he moves closer to his sister, crouching enough that he can line up his little pecker with
her hole.

As soon as he presses into her opening, her hands grip the couch cushions.

I look away for a moment.

There’s a little bit of Taylee in all of them it seems.

And none of me in this fucking useless boy.

I grunt as I move toward them and put my hands on his shoulders.

“Line it up,” I instruct him irritably.

When he shifts slightly, I put my weight into him.

Skylar lets out a strangled, slightly agonized groan, and I understand.

She didn’t have the opportunity to get used to him or brace for him inching his way in.

  Whatever.

They’ll have to reconcile that on their own time.

I go back to watching them from a few inches away and when he finally seems to have the hang of rolling his hips, I crane my neck to watch his dick moving in and out of his sister.

When I see the streak of blood, I know that, at the very least, they weren’t fucking around behind my back like I sometimes suspected.

It’ll take them some practice and time, but they’ll get the job done.

  They have to.

They promised me that they would.

I run a hand back through my hair as I walk out of the house to catch up with what I seemingly left behind.

For now, Taylee’s legacy is safe.

That’s all I can ask for.

  Epilogue

“Hey, Stranger!” I call out when Luke walks into the pharmacy again.

I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

I’ve seen him three times this week, and while he’s a hell of a lot older than me, I wouldn’t mind going home with him for a night.

I think it’s the way he watches people, with such a stern and hateful look that tells me he’d be a wild fuck.

I haven’t had one of those in ages.

“You said your mother’s name was Adeline,” he begins, completely disregarding my joy at seeing him again.

I roll my eyes and cross my arms over my chest.

“Are we doing this again?” I ask in a bored tone.

“What was her father’s name?” he asks me evenly.

“I don’t know. Mom never talked about her dad. Come to think of it, Grandma never mentioned him either.”

I watch curiously as he puts a hand to his stomach and inhales sharply.

“Hey, are you okay?” I ask curiously as I take a step closer to him.

“It’ll pass,” he says in a quiet tone.

“So, did you need something else today? I don’t think you’ve ever visited the store this many days in a row,” I say brightly, trying to change the subject.

I’ve never met a more private person in my life, but I’ve learned from Mom and Grandma to never pry into someone’s personal business.

They said that sometimes you stumble on things you wish you never knew, and it could change your world for the worst.

“You kind of look like my daughter, don’t you think?” he asks me as he peers into my eyes.

“The little girl that was here? Yeah, I guess I can see a slight resemblance. Do you have any other kids?”

  He nods.

  “How many?”

He turns his face away for a moment before he drops his hand to his side.

Apparently I’ve touched something that he doesn’t want to talk about, but what else can I say? He brought it up, I was just trying to expand on the subject.

“Well, if you need help, give me a holler,” I say to him as I crouch back down in front of the box I was unpacking.

If he’s not going to talk anymore, I should probably finish stocking the shelves.

“You wanna get out of here?” he suddenly asks.

I look up at him with a grin on my face.

His tone is strong again and his eyes are boring into my soul, like they’re wont to do when he’s near me.

“You better believe it!” I say as I stand back up and the grin spreads across my face. “Where did you have in mind?”

“Wherever,” he replies as he turns to walk out of the store.

I have to walk quickly to fall into step beside him.

  “Wait, one sec.”

He sighs as he glances down at me but gives me the couple of seconds I need to write a note to my mom to let her know why I left the store before she got there.

Priscilla will take notice and man the register until Mom arrives, so it’s not like I’m abandoning my post.

I make up an excuse, deciding it’s best to not let her know who I’m leaving with, instead writing that a friend showed up to ask me to go to dinner and an apology for not calling to tell her.

I sign it with a few hearts, then my name, before I drop the pen on the counter, smack my hand down on the desk bell, and crane my neck.

When I see Priscilla, I wave at her to let her know that I’m leaving, and she waves back with a smile.

I walk over to Luke and link an arm through his. He raises an eyebrow at me before shaking his head and pushing the front door open for me.

I always wondered what my grandfather was like.

Mom and Grandma made up so many lies about him, that I knew he had to be someone great.

And, honestly, I never thought I’d ever get to meet him, but I knew it was him when I saw the girl.

We do look alike and now I have a family that won’t lie to me or treat me any differently.

It’ll be nice to know what it’s like to be loved and wanted for once.

Mom stopped loving me when I kept asking too many questions and I never saw Grandma again after the day she said she was going to check on her other kids.

She made me feel like they were more important than me, but now I get to show them all.

I already love my grandfather more than I love them.

Now I’ll get to show him how much if he’ll let me.

I’m going to honor him. I’m going to ensure that his legacy lives on. – Hailey Chazen
