“We’re willing to let it all go for two hundred grand. I don’t think it’s worth that much, to be honest with you, but this way, we’ll have enough money to share and pay off some of the debt we have from taking care of Mom and Dad. Even though she died here, our dad’s medical bills were also outrageous. This will help me be able to pay for a couple of years of college for my kids too.” Milo started to tell him it was a deal, but the man spoke again. “If that’s too much, we can take a hundred and fifty. I’m sorry about that.”
“I tell you what. I’ll pay the two hundred grand and find you a good attorney that will make it, so you’re not responsible for the debts of your parents.” He winked at his mom before continuing. “This is my mom, Cindi Manning. She’ll also find a way for your kids to get scholarships for college at no cost to you guys. Do we have a deal?”
The man broke down. Sobbing his thanks out, he held onto George until he finally regained control of himself. Shaking his hand, again and again, he thanked him, as did his wife, as it turned out, and his sister. It was up to the auctioneer to settle up with the people there.
George turned to his mom. “Was that all right with you?” She told him it was perfectly fine. “If there is a problem with their application, tell me. I’ll gladly pay for the kids to go to college. It’s for a good cause, and I think their parents will make them study hard, don’t you?”
“I do.”
There were a lot of people yelling about the sale of everything, but the auctioneer and the realtor had it under control. As he and his mom walked into the house, they were greeted by Winnie and a bunch of faeries. By a bunch, George was sure that it was perhaps several thousand of them. They were vibrating to get started on the house.
“George, honey, set them to work before they tear the house down.”
He was laughing at his mother when he told them what he was looking for in the way of the kitchen. He stressed several times that they’d have to wait until the people were gone, but he could see that they were very disappointed. George was excited for this new venture. He nearly asked his mom if the push was because his mate was coming but didn’t. He wanted to be as surprised as the rest of them when she showed up.
