The President's Boyfriend Page 8

“Because I wasn’t going all the way to France for dinner. Nor a booty call. I could have done that here,” she added, which seared him with heat. And then she got up and made her way into her kitchen.

Nico’s erection was getting so stiff he had to rub it as he stood up, too, and followed her into the kitchen. When he saw her standing at the refrigerator door, and saw how tight her ass looked in those shorts, he walked over to the stove, near her.

“Bacon or sausage?” she asked him as she stood at the frig door. And then she looked at him. His eyes were hooded already.

“I’ll take you,” Nico said in such a sensual tone that Kay stopped all movement. She felt the heat. There was no doubt about that.

She stared at him. To call that man sexy would be like calling the Atlantic Ocean a lake. The height of understatement. But would it be the height of irresponsibility for her to so easily give in to a man whose interest in her was strictly sexual? “I’m not on the menu,” she said.

“That never stopped me,” he said, slowly moving toward her. “You know why?”

  Nowhere to run.

  Nowhere to hide.

She didn’t know if she was going to be able to escape his advances. “Why?” she asked him.

“Whenever I’m at a restaurant, and what I want is not on the menu, you know what I do?”

“What?” she asked, staring at him.

He was in her personal space now. And he placed his hand on her chin, and lifted her face up to his. “I go into the kitchen and personally ask the chef to give me what I want.” His mouth began to move toward hers. She could feel his fresh breath on her skin. “And guess what?” he asked her.

“What?” she said in what sounded like a whisper.

“I have never been turned down,” he said, and placed his lips on hers and gave her a kiss so passionate that Kay found her eyes closed and her mouth drinking up every ounce of his passion as soon as their lips met.

And as he kissed her, Kay realized a profound truth. Her job was her life. Outside of working for Eddie Drake, she had no life at all. None! And losing that job was traumatic for her. It was devastating for her. And all of that hurt and pain and uncertainty caused her to need Nico at that very moment. She needed to be able to forget. And he was there, and was ready, willing, and able to make her forget.

But she also knew it didn’t have to be Nico. She used to search for Mister Right. She spent all of her adulthood searching for that man who could give her what she most wanted: a family. But they all broke her heart. They all just wanted her body, not her. Which was no knock on Nico, who she was certain just wanted her body too. But that kind of man that never really wanted her, was the only kind of man she’d ever known.

It got so bad that she began playing the game too. At least she didn’t have to live with the jokers. At least she got something out of it too. And her dream of finding Mister Right, and having that wonderful family life with husband and kids, completely disappeared into settling for what she could get. Where she no longer had to have a dream man at all. She just had to have a man. And on some days, any man would do.

When he stopped kissing her, and she opened her eyes again, he removed her hand from off of the refrigerator door, with the door closing on its own, and then he pulled her to him so closely she could feel his erection.

But she also saw something. She saw more than a want in his eyes. She saw a need in his eyes. As if he needed to be with her almost as much as she needed to be with him.

“Up or down?” he asked her.

As a veteran of booty calls, Kay understood what that meant too. “Up,” she said. And then he swept her off her feet and lifted her into his arms. She wrapped her legs and arms around his masculine frame, as he carried her upstairs.

When they made it into her bedroom, he stood her on her feet at the side of her still unmade bed. Still in his arms, he began kissing her mouth, and then her neck, and then he lifted her top and began sucking her breasts. She leaned back as he sucked her so hard and with so much ferociousness that she was forgetting her woes already.

And then he laid her on the bed. She began removing her clothing as he began removing his. And when he dropped his pants and briefs, revealing what she had been waiting to see, she knew, as soon as she saw it, that he was about to give it to her good. And just as Mindy had surmised that night at that meet and greet, he certainly had the pipes. And his pipe was standing at attention so stiffly that Kay wondered how long it could possibly be before he had to forget all foreplay, and lay it down.

But in the meantime, he knelt down between them, and let the foreplay begin. And for Kay, it felt as good as the main event.

Nico felt that way, too, as he did her. He loved the way she squirmed. He loved the way his tongue could feel her pulsations, and the more he felt the harder he licked. But he also knew he wanted more. He had to have much more than that.

He stood up and removed his dress shirt, revealing his massive biceps and ribbed abs, and then he finished removing his shoes and the rest of his clothing and got in bed on top of her. By the time he had sleeved his dick and had entered her with a slow entry that caused her to groan in anticipation of what was to come, he was sucking her breasts again. And Kay was closing her hooded eyes again, and enjoyed every suck.

And then he moved up further, and was kissing her again. That was when his penis began to move inside of her, causing her to arch her back at the size and hardness of it all. And she held on. She held onto him as her naked body melded to his.

She knew it was just for that moment and he’d be gone within the hour. Her job would still be lost and what she was going to do with the rest of her life would still be before her, terrifying her. But at least for that moment in time, she could forget her troubles and just let herself go. And enjoy herself.

Nico was enjoying it too. He knew how to take a woman for a ride, but with Kay it felt like a special kind of ride. His penis was stroking her with slow-motion strokes, and he was, by the way she was responding to him, hitting her spot repeatedly.

By the time they were both feeling the sensations and were sweating and moaning and groaning as he laid it down on her so hard, pumping on her with such expertise, that his gyrations began to increase. They intensified to such an extent that even her bed was jumping and her bedsprings were singing as they made long, passionate love.

Nico couldn’t believe how great it felt to be inside of Kay. It was as if she had some special sauce between those legs. And he wanted to please her so badly that he was giving it his all. His heart was pounding as if it was going to escape him, because of the way he was doing her.

And when she came, she held onto him so tightly that her fingernails were scratching his back. And that feeling, of her digging into him because of how his dick was digging into her, caused him to come too. And it was an explosive cum. Nico thought her bed was going to crash land, he was pounding her and cumming so hard.

The bed didn’t crash, but the couple on top of the bed did.

After the sensations of cumming subsided, Nico’s dick slowly eased out of Kay, his body slowly moved off of her, and they both crashed on that bed as hard as they had fucked. They were done.

They were so well-spent that, within minutes, Kay heard snoring. When she looked over at Nico, she smiled. And shook her head.

  The man was fast asleep.

  CHAPTER FOURTEEN

Several hours later, when Nico awakened, Kay was long since out of bed. Which surprised him. He fell asleep? He’d never fallen asleep in a woman’s bed before. Or even with a woman in his bed. He always got rid of her first, and then he took his rest. And where was Kay?

He got up, went to her bathroom and peed, washed his hands, and then put back on his clothes. When he made his way downstairs, his nose told him where she was.

And he was right. Kay was in the kitchen and was cooking breakfast. She was back in those biker shorts and her little top. Somehow all felt right with the world again to Nico.

He smiled when he saw what she was cooking. “Bacon,” he said. “You’re cooking bacon.”

Kay looked back at him. She knew what the next line was going to be. He would love to stay and eat with her but he had a meeting to attend, or a plane to catch, or whatever. He had to leave. The booty call was over. The anticipation was over: he knew what her equipment was like. Now it was time for him to move on to the next new thang. To the next woman whose equipment he wanted to try out. “I understand,” she said.

Nico stared at her. It was he who didn’t get it. “You understand what?” he asked her.

Kay realized she had jumped the gun. He hadn’t even given his excuse yet. “I understand that you have to leave right away, and can’t stay for breakfast.”

Nico folded his arms. “Oh yeah? And what gave you that impression?” he asked her.

When she looked at him again, as if she was shocked that he wasn’t trying to slink away, he realized what gave her that impression. All those other men who had slinked away after sex with her, gave her that impression. And it hurt him to think that was her experience. “No,” he said. “I don’t have to be anywhere but where I am.” It was a lie. He had plenty of places he needed to be. But it was the truth too. He didn’t want to be anywhere but where he was.

Kay was shocked to hear him say that. Was he trying to be funny? She continued to stare at him.

“And bacon’s my favorite too,” he said to her.

Kay smiled. She was kind of shocked. Not about the bacon, but about the man. The idea that he wasn’t gone already. The idea that he stayed. “Good,” she said. “What about your eggs?”

  “Over easy.”

  Kay smiled again.

  “You too?” he asked her.

  She nodded. “Me too.”

Nico nodded. He felt comfortable with Kay. And he began removing his suit coat. “I’ll make coffee,” he said.

He walked over to the center island and placed his coat over the back of one of the chairs, and then he rolled up his dress sleeves. And went to the coffee pot.

Kay didn’t know how to feel. She couldn’t remember the last time a man stuck around after a booty call. And she was nobody’s fool. She knew that was what it was when he first arrived at her house. She knew that was what it still was. Just a booty call and breakfast.

“How do you like your coffee?” Nico asked her.

Didn’t this wealthy man have businesses to run and board of directors to answer to? But there he was, in her little kitchen, preparing coffee. “With cream,” she said.

“Ah,” he said with a nod.

“Please don’t tell me you like yours that way too,” she said. That would be freaky that they were that much alike!

But he shook his head. “No. Not at all. I like mine black,” he said, and they glanced at each other.

After she had finished cooking and the cups of coffee were on the table, they both settled down at her intimate kitchen table. They prayed, and ate.

“Why aren’t you at work?” she asked him.

“Since I own the job,” he said, “it’s no problem.”

  Kay laughed.

“Why aren’t you at work?” he asked her.

There was a hesitation. Kay was still in the grips of disbelief. “I was fired yesterday,” she said.

Nico was just about to bite into a slice of bacon when she said those words. He stopped and looked at her. “Fired? Drake fired you?”

  Kay nodded.

Nico was astounded. “What for?” he asked her.

“You remember when his wife drove up that night and claimed I was sleeping with her husband?”

“I remember her mouthing that bullshit, yes,” Nico said.

Kay looked at him. “What makes you so certain it isn’t true?”

Nico looked at her. “It better not be true,” he said. Then he stared at her. “Is it?”

“Of course not! I wouldn’t sleep with my boss. Not ever. But his wife is kind of out there, if you know what I mean. She’s so certain the only way my black ass can make it to the top is to sleep my way there. But I don’t play that shit. I’m going to make it to the top, alright, but on my skills and my skills alone. And bed action is not one of my skills.”

That’s what she thinks, Nico thought. She certainly knew how to put him on fire. He was getting horny again just thinking about how she made him feel.

But he was more concerned about her. And the fact that that asshole senator fired her. The woman who worked harder for his ass than anybody else in that office. “But why would he fire you?” he asked her.

“Because his wife went home and told him that I slapped her down.”

Nico frowned. “I slapped her ass down.”

“I know. And he knows it too. But I guess she told him he either fire me, or she was leaving him. Which would be a disaster in the middle of his reelection bid. The campaign is just getting started. It’s early in the campaign season, but that’s how he likes it. He likes to get a jump on his competition.”

“But you told him I was the one who slapped her, right?”

Kay nodded. “I told him. And he knows I’m not sleeping with his trifling butt, come on. Yet he fired me anyway.”

Nico let out a harsh exhale. “That asshole. Why do you work for a guy like that?”

“Because if you want to succeed as a staffer in the world of politics you have to play the inside game, Nico. There’s no way around it. You have to have mentors and networks and sometimes horrible people in your corner.”

“You thought Drake was your ticket to better positions?”

“For us black staffers on Capitol Hill, he’s the only ticket we have. At least in the Senate. He was the only senator willing to hire blacks in top positions, and I held the top position.” A depressed look came over Kay’s face. “Until yesterday.”

Nico saw her anguish, and it angered him. “What are you going to do about it?” he asked her.

“Me? There’s nothing to be done. We serve at the pleasure of our bosses. If they want you gone, you have to leave. There’s no recourse unless you file a grievance.”

Nico’s cell phone rang. “Which you aren’t going to do,” he said as he looked at his phone’s Caller ID.

Kay shook her head. “No,” she said. “I’m not doing that.”

“I have to answer this,” Nico said, as he stood up, walked away from her, and answered his phone. “What is it?” he asked over the phone. And then he listened.

As Kay continued to eat, she watched him work. He was careful not to discuss anything in her presence, but he seemed a great listener. Then he said, I’ll be there, and ended the call.

And now the moment of truth, she thought, as he walked back up to the table. “You have to leave?” she asked him.

“Unfortunately, yes. What are you going to do today?”

“I’m going to hit the pavement networking, to see what kind of jobs might be out there for somebody with my skillset.”

“I can always get Drake to take you back,” Nico said.

But Kay was already shaking her head. “Don’t you dare speak to that man on my behalf. I’ll starve in the street before I work for him again.”

That was bitterness talking, and Nico knew it. But he agreed with her. Never a good idea to go back. “Are you able to manage in the meantime?” he asked her.

She nodded. She appreciated his interest. “I’ll be okay. I don’t have a big savings account, but I have one.”

“What about your bills? Are you able to manage all of them?”

“I have a mortgage on this house here in Chicago, and on a condo in DC, so I should be okay for a couple months or so. But after that, if I’m still out of work, I’ll sell one of my residences to make do.”

“Or you can come work for me,” Nico said to her.

Kay looked at him. “Doing what?”

  “I’ll find something.”

But Kay shook her head. “No thanks.”

  “Why not
, Kay?”

“I told you I don’t sleep with my boss. Not ever.”

“But you slept with me before I became your boss. Oh. But . . . never mind.”

Kay smiled. “You changed your mind awfully fast. Why?”

“Because if working for me means our relationship will be over, including the sexual part, then I don’t want you working for me.”

Kay stared at him. “Isn’t the sexual part the only part there is to our relationship?”

Nico frowned. “Oh, hell no,” he said sincerely. “Why would you think that?”

Kay felt embarrassed that she had never known any other kind of relationship. “I was just saying,” she said.

“Don’t ever say that again,” Nico said, that intense look all over his face. “If you think for a second that I came all this way, back to Chicago, just to sleep with you, you are sadly mistaken, young lady. I can get that anywhere. You do realize that, don’t you?”

Kay knew he could get it anywhere. She knew that was true. “Then why did you come?” she asked him, staring at him. “If not for a booty call?”

“To see you,” Nico said honestly.

  “Why?”

“Why you? I don’t know,” he said, staring at her. “I know I was displeased when Pierre told me you refused to board the plane. I was pissed, to be honest with you.”

  Kay smiled.

“But I knew I needed to see you again,” Nico continued. “So I know I came back because of you. I know it’s you. What I don’t know is why it’s you.”

He said it as if Kay could enlighten him. But she was as in the dark as he was. She liked him. And now that he said he wanted more than just her body, she was willing to give him a shot. But she also knew of many other men that told her that too, before she became the booty call queen. And she gave them a shot. And it always turned out to be a bad shot. An airball. A heart break.

But Nico felt different to her. In every way.
