lives, they will notice. They will dissect every faction of your life, looking for anything suspicious, and they will eliminate everyone you love if they suspect you were involved in the killings of their fallen comrades.”

  Oren and I make eye contact. We both can’t stand the idea of our families getting hurt. He doesn’t want to give up, so he gives one last attempt.

  “But then how are you going to teach me all I still need to learn? I’ve been kept in the dark for too long, I can’t go back to where I was. That isn’t living.”

  Cato chuckles and grabs Oren’s shoulders. “This isn’t goodbye, my friend. This was merely just the first battle. Go home, be with your family during the week, and then you can come back to train on the weekends. There is so much to prepare for. I need those days to spread the word. The obsidian dragon of light is alive and the final war is about to begin.”

  Oren is lifted and thrown into the air. He explodes into his dragon form and lets out a thunderous roar that rumbles over the land.
