Wanted: Hired Gun Page 10

“I don’t know about Barachiel Garrison the second, for a boy’s name? I always thought Michael would be a perfect name or perhaps Angela for a little girl – what do you think, husband?” Posey asked softly, taking Garrison’s hand and laying it on her stomach deliberately.

His shocked eyes looked from Posey to his mother’s teary eyes and back to his wife. The surprise and awe in his handsome face just seconds before it crumbled with emotion was breathtaking. He buried it against her torso lovingly. Posey cradled his head tenderly before she realized he was smothering his laughter. His sparkling eyes glanced up at her, glowing with adoration as he grinned.

“You can name our child anything you want… but that. Although… Jones Garrison does have a very nice ring to it, doesn’t it, Butterfly?” he whispered with a knowing smile and a nod to her. Posey knew that her husband had been right all along – they had both been blessed with a chance to live and love, guided to one another. Her heart wept with joy at the emotions she felt looking in his tender eyes, knowing her future lay with him – here in Silverpines.

In the seven years that have passed since her marriage, she’s seen other women move forward with their lives. His home had been razed, his family gone, and he had only the items on his back to begin his life again. When he received a response to the ad for an assistant to the town’s undertaker, it seemed to be a perfect solution for a former surgeon in the army. One look at the lovely undertaker and his dead heart came alive. Jeremiah would do anything to have Ava in his life, including making her forget her long lost husband.
