I lick my lips. Sleepiness comes to me in slow waves. “I made it, I was hungry, and I wanted it.”
“With kimchi,” he deadpans, “You shouldn’t eat too many sweets.”
“Are you calling me fat?” I huff; the hormones are acting as an intervention to my sensitive feelings.
They’re too sensitive right now. It’s not Luke’s fault that I think this way.
“Don’t be stupid,” he scoffs above my head, and of course, my feelings are too fragile to take it.
What a nightmare again.
“So, I am fat!” I whine sullenly. “You said you’d love me no matter what! I’m fat, and I have sore ankles. I’m bloated all the time, and I didn’t even eat that much salt!”
“I love you,” he says, clean and simple.
My heart flies and sings a verse of a heavenly melody. Obviously, Luke knows how to deal with my pregnancy hormones. I have lost count of how many times something like this happens, and he doesn’t even bat an eye by the fifth time it happened.
He’s learned from the last four times, and he learns fast with solutions already lined up in his head. Confessing his love for me is the most impactful way to calm me down from these ridiculous tantrums.
“Luke… don’t bring this up tomorrow, and I love you too.”
He laughs.
