UNCENSORED QUOTES OF THE WEEK
"Robert is like my big brother to me anyway, so it’s perfect.”
—Y&R’s Hunter King on playing opposite her HOLLYWOOD HEIGHTS love interest Robert Adamson, who now plays her on-screen brother in an interview with DIGEST
Translation: On B&B, we’d play lovers and siblings!
“I was extremely disappointed. Aside from my own selfish reasons of just enjoying working with Chandler Massey very much, I thought it was a very interesting dynamic on the show. It’s disappointing when something like that is killed. From my perspective, it’s a great shame.”
—DAYS’s James Scott in DIGEST regarding EJill
Translation 1: I’ll just have to tap that ass on my own time!
Translation 2: The show wants to be cancelled.
“It saddens me that when you summarize the storyline, the show and some of its recent past sounds like cartoonish passions. I don’t think half of those stories needed to happen. I wouldn’t have gone that far in the writing with the baby issue. The Victor and Sharon marriage was almost like an inside joke.”
—Y&R’s Michael Muhney promoting his Vancouver appearance this weekend in THE PROVINCE
Translation 1: Our Twitter feuds were more organic and entertaining.
Translation 2: But what do I know? I’ve only been on the show for three years.
Chat Wars
KATIE Gets Desperate!
ABC is already tinkering with Katie Couric’s talk show.
TV GUIDE announced that Kathy Ireland has joined Katie Couric’s struggling daytime talk show as a regular contributor. The supermodel will continue to appear on the syndicated series, covering such topics as mom entrepreneurs, parenting, anti-aging, navigating successful relationships and more.
Suspiciously, Ireland's deal includes a first-look agreement to develop specials and show concepts with Disney/ABC Television Group's Times Square Studios.
Translation: ABC is sinking even more money in to KATIE because we all know Ireland, who is a successful entrepeneur, doesn’t come cheap.
In other news, BROADCASTING & CABLE revealed that Jeff Probst’s fledgling talker cost $30 million to produce — that’s half the cost it would have taken to produce higher rated ONE LIFE. (KATIE costs a whopping $80 million to produce and is earning less viewers than GH.)
Finally, THE TALK, which proves featuring soap stars is a wise strategy, is enjoying a ratings bump: the chatfest is up 23 percent in total viewers over the same week last year, 13 percent among women 25-54, 17 percent among W18-49 and 25 percent among W18-34. Season-to-date, The Talk is up 21 percent in total viewers, 11 percent among W25-54, 25 percent among W18-34 .4/02) and even in W18-49. Congrats!

THE DAYTIME EMMY RACE… SO FAR
2012 may not be over yet but several performers are already securing up Emmy reels! Who has the inside track for gold in 2013?
Below are my early picks for the 2013 Daytime Emmy Awards. Remember ONE LIFE is still eligible since the iconic series last aired this past January. Also, if GH and ONE LIFE are nominated for Drama Series and Writing, it’ll be the first time in forever that two showrunners will be competing against themselves (Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati). But knowing Cartini, who infamously choose bad Emmy reels, they’ll lose out on every nomination possible! Tweet me and let me know if I missed anyone in my golden list below!

MARIE OSMOND ON SOAPS AND HER NEW TALKER!
The talk show arena may be overcrowded but UNCENSORED is betting on one new chatfest to survive: Hallmark’s MARIE. Due in large part to Marie Osmond’s infectious personality and laugh, and the show embracing older viewers, the famous Osmond sibling may be the closest thing
we have to an Oprah on the daytime dial. And, along with fun, Marie’s talk show has substance! UNCENSORED recently spoke with La Osmond about her soap-friendly talk show and what’s happening with her B&B gig.
Are you vying for the Oprah crown as Queen of Daytime?
No! If you do that, you’ll fail. Her show was about being true to herself — and that’s what we all should be doing. When she started out, there weren’t 40, 000 cable channels. Some of the things I want to do is I want to communicate with people. It’s that simple with me. Even when I did DANCING WITH THE STARS, I was connecting with people. I would get thousands of emails from viewers supporting me — and asking me about all the things I’ve been through. God doesn’t care who you are but what you are. And how you get through the difficult stuff. I think women need to stop competing with each other and start completing each other. I want to do shows about how parents can better communicate with their kids and find new technologies that will help busy mothers. I want to give women hope and not feel helplessness.
I was going to do a talk show five years ago and we were cleared in the majority of all the markets but then everything crashed. I always wanted to do a talk show. My motivation is do something for women because I never had a sister. In my mother’s era, women would gather together and talk while they hung clothes on the clothes line. That kind of communication and support isn’t there anymore. We’re kind of isolated because of the
