“Tami—”
Once the door was open wide, my mouth hung open. My eyes grew large when I set my eyes on Nick. My ex-boyfriend was standing at my front door.
“Nick, what are you doing here?”
Nick’s eyes roamed over my body. He was noticing the gray oversized men’s t-shirt. His eyes finally settled on my face. His eyes diverted slowly to the left. He was looking behind me.
I turned just in time to see Brandon walking toward us. I hadn’t noticed him until Nick did. My body shifted as Brandon approached us. My eyes drifted as I noticed Brandon was naked.
Nick’s face frowned, and he regarded Brandon in his birthday suit. My new suitor’s nudity and brazen, cocky demeanor couldn’t be denied. I took an insignificant amount of pleasure watching Brandon approach with his abs intact and his dick swinging.
Brandon took a place right beside me. I looked at him and smiled because I didn’t quite know what was customary to do in this situation. He smiled back at me and then glared directly at Nick.
“Who are you?” Brandon’s lower morning baritone rattled the confided space.
Panic forced the smile from my lips. Oh, my God! This was happening.
“I’m Nick, who are you?”
I don’t know why I expected Nick not to respond. But he did, and I was watching them interact like I was in a reality TV show.
Brandon ignored the question and slipped his hand around my waist. He tenderly pulled me to his side. I moved into my proper place. Or at least the place that felt comfortable at the moment.
I was frozen in my tracks with my tongue-tied. Apparently, three wasn’t a crowd because Tamika suddenly appeared behind Nick in the doorway. Her presence broke the silence even though no one had said anything.
Tamika forcefully pushed past Nick to enter the apartment. There was a tense calm on top of the already tense silence that lingered around all of us.
Tamika grinned as she realized the awkward situation she happened upon. She glanced over at the guy she nicknamed Brando and then winked at me.
She was on cloud nine. I could see it in her eyes. She loved drama, and I brought it right up to our doorstep. This was my very own Love and Online Hip Hop. This scenario had never happened to me. I wanted to run away. I needed a way to stop Nick from staring at Brandon. I needed to stop Brandon from eyeballing Nick.
My giddy roommate was the one that broke the awkward silence with, “Alexa play Ex’s and Oh’s by Elle King.”
