“Asshole,” Holly snorted as she tried not to laugh.
I knew we hadn’t made it out of the woods just yet, but we were still alive, and that meant we had a chance. It wouldn’t be long now until the desert shrub brush faded and the pine trees started to surround us. We were almost there. In fact, we’d be there in a few hours if our luck held, a few days if it didn’t. We were right where we needed to be to save the world.
