“No.” I shook my head. “Not yet. I need a minute,” I whispered.
He kissed my temple. “How about a drink?”
“Yeah, that would be great.”
Dom left the room for just a minute, then came back and handed me a glass full of amber liquid. Eyeing the glass with the mysterious liquid in it, I raised my brow. He nodded. I downed the glass. I swore my eyes almost bugged out as my throat burned.
I coughed. “What was that? It feels like acid on my throat.”
Dom chuckled as warmth settled in my belly and my nerves calmed. “No, baby. That wasn’t acid.” He took a swig from a green bottle. “That, my love, is Jameson. The cure for everything.” He gave me a sly smile and a wink. Then he got serious. “You ready?”
I nodded and took one more burning drink. Dom took the glass from me and sat on the bed, pulling me into his arms. Taking a deep breath, I recapped my nightmare to him. By the time I was done, I was shaking again, and Dom’s face was red.
He kissed my head. “I’ll never let him get you again. I swear.”
I snuggled closer into safety. “I know.”
I knew he’d try his best. But John was a sneaky fucker. If he wanted me, there was a chance even Dom couldn’t stop him.

Dom
After Jules told me about her nightmare, I suggested maybe going back to her therapy sessions. Not necessarily group, but at least individual sessions a couple times a week. Thankfully, she agreed. And since she couldn’t go back to her self-defense classes right now, I’d take care of that too. For all the girls.
“I’ll work with you on self-defense, okay? We can start tomorrow.” She nodded and smiled. I knew she felt more in control when she felt like she could protect herself. “I promise, baby. You will be safe. I will protect you with my life.” Kissing her forehead, I climbed out of the bed. “I have some things to go take care of. Will you be okay for about an hour? I won’t be leaving the compound.”
Jules sat up and fixed her ponytail. “Yes, of course, I’ll be fine.”
I shot a text out to the guys to meet me downstairs. Kissing her gently one more time, I moved to pull away and she twined her hands in my shirt. She yanked me back and crushed her mouth to mine. She deepened the kiss for a second. I felt her lips turn up into a smile. Then she released me. When I turned to leave, I smiled and threw her a wink. I didn’t want to leave her, but there was shit to do.
Heading downstairs, I met up with Axel, Viper, Ezra, and Mac. Locke was on the phone, so we waited until he was finished. He faced me when he hung up. “You tell her?”
I nodded as the anger I’d shoved down to take care of Jules rose back up. “Shit yeah. And she freaked out, crying herself to sleep in my lap. She woke up screaming and thrashing around. She almost killed me in her sleep.” The memory of her pain tore at my guts.
“If she wasn’t a President’s daughter, I’d be more worried,” Locke said. “But I think she can handle it.”
I shook my head. “The problem is this whole damn situation is draining her. Just one hit right after the other, between the kidnapping, the letters, and photos. Now Ernie. She needs a break.” Locke just tilted his chin. I decide to cut to the chase. “Speaking of Ernie, have we heard anything from John?”
“Nope. He’s been radio silent since I sent him the photo.”
“Makes me nervous. I wonder what he’s planning,” Axel said.
Locke’s eyes narrowed. “Ezra, go tell Tech to step up whatever shit he’s pulling to find this guy. I want eyes on him. I want his every move watched. I mean everything he does. I want to know when he shits, how many times a day, and I even want to know the damn color. We need him nailed down.”
Ezra saluted. “On it, Prez.” He headed out.
I cleared my throat. “So, Prez, about Ezra. Are we planning to patch him in anytime soon? I mean, we treat him like a brother, but it’s not official.” Locke watched me with his head tilted. I went on. “Ezra is different from the other prospects. That kid has practically been raised in this club his whole life. Plus, he has a stake in this whole shit storm. I see the way he looks at Grace.” Viper and Mac nodded.
Locke laughed. “You all are a bunch of pussies,” he joked.
“You say that now, but one day, Prez, you might meet a woman who will knock you on your ass. That’ll be the day you stop trying to nail every piece of loose ass in this place,” I quipped.
Standing, I remembered I needed to call New Day and check up on Duke and Storm, make sure they were doing okay. Jules said Storm should be released in a couple weeks, but with everything going on, I wasn’t sure that was a good idea. At least not until we got a handle on the shit with John and whatever he had planned.
Locke bumped my shoulder. “Let’s get this shit with John squared away, then we can patch the kid in. He deserves it. But until then, we’ll still treat him like a brother.”
“Thanks, Prez.”
After the guys left, I asked Locke about something I’d been planning. He didn’t like it, but he gave me the go ahead, with the proper precautions. Thank God. I needed to give Jules a break in the worst way. Hopefully, it’d work out fine.
When he walked away, I pulled out my cell and dialed New Day. Talking to Duke had always made me feel better. After checking on him and Storm, I headed up to check on Jules. I hoped she’d been able to calm down. She was strong, but this was a lot of shit. I was going to take care of it, though.
Jules
I watched Dom leave and curled up on the bed, chastising myself. I was the daughter of a President of an MC. I’d dealt with shit my whole life. Granted, nothing this serious, or directed at me. But I was strong. I refused to let this man beat me, to take what I refused to give.
“I am not a victim!” I said out loud. I would not let him hold me back anymore.
Steeling my resolve, I determined I wasn’t going to continue to live my life in fear. I started formulating a plan to regain control of my life. I wasn’t running anymore. I felt stronger than I had in a long time. Like some new power had come over me.
Dom came back in and sat beside me on the bed. “How are you feeling, princess?” He gave me that smile I loved.
I returned it. “Great. For the first time in a long time.” I sat up. “I finally realized I can’t let him dictate how I live my life anymore. I’m done waiting for him to come get me, or worse, make me completely paranoid so that I end up at New Day with Storm and Duke.” My heart skipped as his dimples appeared.
“There’s my warrior princess. I knew she was in there, you just had to find her.” He placed his hands on my face and touched his forehead to mine. “I missed her. I wasn’t sure when she’d come back out and fight, but I damn well knew she would. Thank God she’s back.”
I lifted my face and kissed him. “I just needed to work through some things.”
Dom grinned. “I want to take you out tonight. Give you that break you need.”
I frowned. “I thought Locke said us girls weren’t allowed to go out no matter what.”
He nodded. “I got special permission. We’ll have to have a couple of the guys tag along behind us to keep watch, but we think it’ll be fine if we’re in a public place.”
I jumped from the bed, already thinking about what I was going to wear.
Dom laughed and patted my ass. “Why don’t you get ready and meet me downstairs at seven? Oh, and dress sexy.” He winked before heading out.
Exactly at seven, I walked downstairs. Dom was already waiting for me. He looked amazing in a pair of dress jeans and a nice button up, his cut over the top. My stomach bottomed out with that feeling like I was on a roller coaster. His smile and the gleam in his eye let me know I’d picked the right dress. A light blue mini dress with no back. The fabric stopped just below the small of my back and left extraordinarily little to his imagination. The plunging neckline added to the effect. Paired with my silver stilettos, I felt amazingly sexy. Better than I had in days.
I
strutted past an almost drooling Dom toward the bike.
He gently grabbed my elbow and directed me to an SUV. I shot him a questioning look. “Can’t take the bike with you wearing a dress like that.” He wrapped his arms around me. “Fuck, baby. I might end up killing someone tonight if they make a pass at you.” The possessive tone in his voice told me he wasn’t joking.
I leaned up on my toes and kissed him deeply. “If a man hits on me, just think about the fact that I’ll be riding your cock when we get home tonight,” I purred, gently biting his ear lobe.
He sucked in a breath. “Fuck! Never mind. Let’s stay in and order pizza so I can get you naked and feast on you all night,” he said with a sly smile.
“Nope. You must take me out and feed me. You promised.” I laughed and grabbed his hand, walking to the car. “Maybe later I’ll give you dessert.” I licked my lips.
He groaned. “Baby, you keep talking and I’ll make sure I feed you something alright.” He popped his brow.
I gave him a sexy laugh, then looked around as we got in the SUV. “So, where’s our security detail?”
Dom grinned. “Oh, they’re here. They’ll just stay back far enough that we won’t see them.” He started the engine and backed out. “Don’t worry. We’ll have privacy.”
I nodded. “Okay, so where are you taking me?” I asked as he sped down the road.
“Well, if I tell you, it’ll ruin the surprise.”
Fifteen minutes later, we pulled up to the restaurant, Marcel’s.
“Aw, I love this place!” I said as he parked.
“I know. Your mom told me when I asked her where the best place to take you was. She said you haven’t been here in years, but you always loved it as a kid.” He came around and helped me out. “I have the whole night planned. Prepare to be wowed, my love.”
What he didn’t realize was that I was already impressed by the fact that he was the first man to ever care to try to surprise me. I usually truly hated surprises, though. I opened my mouth to say something when he interrupted me.
“I know, I know. You hate surprises. But, honey, I don’t really give a damn.” He had a shit eating grin on his face. “You’ll just have to suck it up. Or suck me off,” he joked.
“Well maybe I’ll do both,” I dead panned. I slid down him as I climbed out and noticed he was gritting his teeth and gripping the door handle tightly. “What’s the matter?” I had a feeling I already knew.
“Baby, that just made me as hard as a rock,” he whispered with a tense smile.
I kissed his cheek. “Oh, baby, without a doubt it is on later.” I slid past him and turned. He was watching me with a fierce expression. I just smiled and headed toward the restaurant.
Looking at the line, I was a little nervous. It was out the door. Dom came up and I grabbed his hand. “Maybe we should go somewhere else. It’s an hour wait.
“That’s okay.” He walked right past the line and up to the seating hostess. “We have a reservation under Hayes.”
The hostess opened a book. “Just let me check. Ah, yes. Right here. Follow me.” Walking past the others waiting, whispers and stares followed us. She seated us against the window.
Dom smiled as he held my chair out. “I figured you’d want the best view in the house.”
“Dom,” I whispered. “You shouldn’t have gone to so much trouble. I don’t need you to spoil me. I just need you to love me.”
“Oh, baby, I do love you, but I also get to spoil the hell out of you. Because I can. Because every girl should be treated like the princess she is. And if her man is worth a damn, then his girl shouldn’t be lacking in anything.” He kissed my hand.
After placing our orders, I looked over at Dom, loving the feeling I got just by looking at him and being in his presence. Like a small current of electricity running over my body. They said when someone fell in love, not only did they feel different, but they learned to see the world differently. That they saw it through the eyes of the person they loved. That’s how I felt. I was starting to believe like him. That we controlled our fates. And that with the love we had for each other, we could get through anything.
“What’s going through that beautiful head?” Dom asked, stopping my thought process.
“I was just thinking about what it feels like to be in love,” I say shyly. “I know, corny isn’t it?”
He chuckled. “I was thinking about what would happen when we got home, so I have no place to judge.” He laughed. He was making a joke, but the thought and promise in the air crackled with sexual tension.
I licked my lips, sucking in my bottom lip, trying for a playful tease. By the look on his face, I was either terrible at it, or I was very good.
With a laugh, he said, “Baby, don’t worry. I’m a sure thing.”
That made me think I was terrible, but the look of sexual promise on his face had my core tightening. I squeezed my legs together to dull the ache until I could have him inside of me.
Our meal was fantastic, and we had so much fun just talking, eating, and feeding each other. It was torture. After we were finished, Dom asked if I wanted dessert, knowing damn well the dessert I wanted we couldn’t have here. I playfully glared at him. But the edge to his tone promised deliciously dirty results.
“What else did you have in mind?”
I reached under the table and caressed his thigh with my fingertips. Clutching my hand, he pressed my palm to his rock-hard cock. Then he hissed out through his teeth. I watched his breathing pick up. There was an additional air of excitement, wondering if anyone else could see what we were doing. I squeezed gently, loving the way he felt. So solid beneath my hand. I unzipped his pants, wanting to feel his skin on mine. I slid my hand inside. I gripped his dick harder, rubbing my finger over the tip and spreading his precum around it.
I attempted to go farther but was thwarted when Dom pulled my hand free. “Enough, baby.” His eyes burned into mine. “I refuse to cum while we are at the dinner table. Besides, I want your mouth on my cock when I cum,” he whispered in my ear.
A thrill went through me. Looking at him with hooded eyes, I slowly brought my finger to my mouth and sucked the left over precum off. Teasing him mercilessly, I closed my eyes and let out a soft groan. I was enjoying him, savoring the taste of his musky flavor.
Without warning, I was yanked out of my seat and dragged out of the restaurant to the car. Dom practically tossed me into my seat. I tried to contain my laughter.
He jumped in the driver’s seat. “Damn, baby, I don’t know how much longer I can wait,” he said breathlessly. He started the car and pulled out, heading back to the compound.
I had an idea, one that I’d never done before. But being with Dom made me want to do a lot of things that I’d never done. I leaned over and slowly unzipped his jeans, pulling out his still hard dick.
Slowly stroking him, I whispered, “Pay attention to the road, baby.” I leaned over and wrapped my mouth around his rock-hard shaft.
“Ohh fuck, baby! Fuck! That is hot.” He hissed. “Suck harder.” One hand was on my head, guiding me over his shaft by a handful of my hair, and the other was steering the car.
I tried to pay attention to what I was doing and not focus on the fact that I was so turned on, my juices were running down my thighs. I couldn’t stand it anymore, the scent of my arousal mixed with the tingling sensation. I slid my hand up under my dress and touched myself. When Dom gripped my hair harder and started meeting my mouth with his hips in rapid thrusts, I knew he was watching me.
I sucked harder and Dom let out a warning. “Fuck, Jules! Baby, I’m close! Oh God. Suck it, baby. I’m gonna cum!” He shoved my head down and bucked his hips up, shoving my nose into his crotch.
The head of his dick hit the back of my throat and fighting my gag reflex, I swallowed every single drop he gave me. I loved the taste of him. Sitting up, I realized he’d pulled over. We were parked in the lot of an abandoned building.
I was suddenly flipped to the back
seat, with Dom following me. He pulled my dress up and then his mouth latched onto my clit. I screamed his name and pulled his hair at the same time, shoving his head into me. Feeling his tongue prodding at my core, lapping at my flesh.
Gripping my hips, he rose up and rammed into me. He didn’t even remove his jeans. Thrusting hard, he pounded my pussy. Damn, this was rough, dirty sex, and I couldn’t get enough. I loved every minute of it. Including when he leaned over and sucked my nipple into his mouth hard, causing me to plummet into a pleasurable darkness.
Both of us were panting, out of breath.
He leaned back, covered in a fine sheen of sweat. “Damn, baby. We should do this more often.”
I just laid there, utter happiness on my face, unable to say a word.
“Let’s get you home and in bed.” He kissed my forehead and help me get situated.
As we drove back to the clubhouse, I couldn’t help but think that the little break from our bat shit crazy reality was just what we’d both needed. I felt empowered.
All that was shattered when Dom’s phone rang.
His face grew tighter, his eyes darker, as he listened to whoever was on the other end in silence. He grabbed my hand and gave me a look that terrified me and broke my heart at the same time.
My stomach lurched. “What is it?” I mouthed.
“Okay, I’ll get her there.” He hung up the phone. He didn’t look at me as he pulled over into a gas station parking lot.
“Dom, what is it? You’re scaring me.” I scooted closer to him, a bad feeling settling over me.
He sighed, then pulled me into his lap. “I need you to stay strong, okay? We’re going to get through this.”
I shook my head, so scared I could barely breathe. “Just tell me.”
Dom brushed hair out of my face, kissed my lips softly, and then looked me in the eye. “It’s your dad. I’m sorry, baby. He’s dead.”
