A destroyed city
Deep under the streets of London terrified people are huddled together on the platforms of underground stations. The London underground provided shelter to millions of people during the dark days of World War Two, and once again Londoners have sought safety in the deep.
“What’s going on, Daddy?” Edward and Anthony asked.
“I don’t know. Let’s just wait here. We’re safe enough down here, whatever is going on up there.”
There were strange noises coming down the entrances. Then the ground was rumbling and shaking and a wave of burning hot air blew onto the platforms. The children clung to their parents. A second later a huge blast tore down escalator shafts around London. People everywhere collapsed. Then there was silence.
Through the raging fires up above shimmering purple tentacles sneaked down to explore underground passages. The purple tentacles examined the people lying on the ground one by one. Finally the tentacles found something of interest: two humans that were still alive! The tentacles wrapped around the bodies of the two live humans, lifted them up, and pulled them towards the surface where an alien space craft was waiting.
Two days later there were no humans left alive on Planet Earth.
