  He started to the door. “You might be right.” Pausing for a moment, he added, “And, I don’t suppose it’s worth finding out?”

  I glowered at him. “Who would we even go to for something like that?”

  His hand was on the doorknob as he turned and said, “Oh, I have a little Wiccan that owes me years of service.” Another slight curl of the lips. “Get at me once you’ve slept on it, beautiful,” he told me in a husky voice. “It’s time we both know who Malcolm Hex really is.”

  And with that, he vanished from my living room so fast, it was like he was never there in the first place.
