Logan's Second Chance Page 13

By everything, Raul knew Dino meant funeral arrangements. “Are you sure?”

Dino let out a harsh laugh. “I made fun of Michella the day she announced she finalized her will and she’d drafted out funeral instructions. I reminded her about our age differences, how I was likely to die first.”

Raul squeezed his shoulder but couldn’t offer anything else. Words were insufficient. The ache in his heart wouldn’t compare to Dino’s grief. Despite the bravado Dino put up, Raul knew he’d need to keep an eye out on his best friend for a while. Logan wouldn’t mind. He left the group, pausing by Blake, who nodded in silent understanding.

“We’ll keep a close eye on him,” Blake said softly.

Raul returned to his Omega’s side. Seeing him, Logan gave him a small smile.

“Come on, pet. It’s time we head back home,” Raul said.

  Chapter Eighteen

“May her soul rest in peace, amen,” said the priest in the front.

Standing to the left of the priest were Alessio, Sergio, and their mates. Behind them were the other pack leaders and their respective partners.

“Amen,” the other werewolves murmured back.

It didn’t matter the others weren’t Catholic. Every single member of the Darkfall Mountain pack, even former and retired shifters, turned up for Michella’s funeral. The small church cemetery behind St. Mary’s Cathedral was packed with mourners.

Logan stood in the back with his other pack mates, but he had a perfect view of his mate. Raul was dressed in his best suit and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Dino. Logan knew Dino shouldn’t be alone right now. After the rescue mission a week ago, it seemed like Dino lost his initial will to live. Raul and he spoke about eventually getting their own place, but Logan had to agree Dino needed watching. He knew how close Raul and Dino were.

While Logan appreciated all that Raul and the others had done to make them feel welcome, Michella’s funeral was still a somewhat private affair. In a way, Logan and his tiny pack were still outsiders, but Logan insisted on coming.

Despite the short time he’d known the Gamma, they’d become friends, and he would never forget her kindness. In his moment of desperation, he reached out to her for help, and she didn’t turn him away.

First, death took Ray. Michella followed. Logan didn’t want anyone he cared about dying anytime soon.

Someone gently touched his shoulder, making him jump.

“Logan, we’re making our final farewells and heading out,” Martin said by his ear. “You’re waiting for Raul, right?”

Logan blinked, realizing the cemetery was slowly being emptied out. On occasion, the Darkfall shifters gave them glances, but there were fewer hostile looks.

“Yeah, you guys go ahead,” Logan remembered to answer.

  “Take it easy,” Davis said.

Logan tensed, seeing Sergio and Alessio stop in front of him, sizing him up. From the corner of his eye, Raul noticed the first sign of trouble as well and started for him. One glance at the Alpha and Beta told Logan he didn’t need to worry. They wouldn’t pick a fight with him. Not today. Still, Logan suspected both men blamed him a little for their little sister’s death.

  How could they not?

“Little Omega, thank you for coming.” Sergio’s words surprised the hell out of him. Most of the time, the Darkfall pack Alpha looked menacing and frightening, but today, he simply looked exhausted.

Logan felt Raul coming up behind him, tucking him against his solid chest.

“Of course, Michella was my friend, too,” Logan murmured.

Part of him steadied himself for the worst. If Sergio decided he and his pack had to go, Logan didn’t know what to do. Raul mentioned if that happened, he’d follow Logan to wherever place he’d decide to settle. However, Logan would think of that as a last resort. Darkfall Mountain was the place Raul had been born and raised. This town was his home, and it was slowly becoming Logan’s, too.

“Use her gift wisely,” Alessio said, nodding to Raul.

“Wait,” Logan blurted when the two men began to turn away. “You guys never said anything about my pack.”

Alessio raised an eyebrow. “Raul claimed you as his mate. Doesn’t that mean you’re staying?”

“What about the others?” Logan knew he was pushing the envelope, but he had to ask in case he needed to deliver the bad news to the others.

“I can see you and your wolves aren’t a threat, pup,” Sergio said patiently. “But your pack is the exception. We don’t take strays in often, but that was my little sister’s last wish. By all means, stay. No one will contest your presence.”

“It’s a little late,” Alessio said with a small smile. “But welcome to Darkfall.”

Once the two men left, Logan slumped against Raul and breathed a sigh of relief.

“What were you expecting?” Raul asked, sounding amused.

  “I don’t know. The worst I guess.”

“We should get going, too. It’s going to rain soon,” Raul suggested.

Logan looked over at Michella’s grave. Dino still knelt in front of it, staring. It felt like Raul and he were intruding, but he wasn’t entirely certain leaving Dino to his own devices was the best decision.

“Is it okay to leave him alone?” Logan asked, concerned.

“He’ll be fine. Let’s leave him in peace. Eventually, he’ll find his way home,” Raul answered.

“You know him best,” Logan murmured.

The enforcer linked their hands together and started for the car.

“You know what Michella would have said if she were somehow here?” Raul asked once they were back in the car.

  “What?”

“That if you have that many people attend your funeral it means you’ve done plenty of good in your life. Then she’d say she’s had a decent run and that’s all she could ever ask for.”

Logan furiously rubbed at the tears gathering at the corner of his eyes. “Sounds like her.”

“Let’s go home, pup. Mourn our own way.”

  A Month Later

Warm and nude in their bed, Logan glanced out the windows. Rain pelted the glass steadily, painting the world a murky gray. Hearing the doorknob turn, Logan smiled at the sight of Raul, fresh from the shower and a lone towel draped over his waist. Remembering Raul had just dragged Dino from his third bar fight this week, Dino’s tenth over the past month alone, Logan’s smile wavered.

“How is he?” Logan asked. Seeing Raul’s fresh bruises, he winced. Rising to his feet, Logan touched his mate’s face.

  “Unconscious.”

“That’s nothing to be proud of,” Logan muttered, then sighed. “It’s getting worse, isn’t it?”

“He’ll snap out of it eventually,” Raul said. “There’s nothing in the rule book that says you can’t find a second mate to love.”

“Babe, it’s not that easy,” Logan said, tugging Raul to sit on the edge of the bed.

“We’re living proof second chances do exist,” Raul said.

“I’m grateful for the gift of us every day of our lives, baby,” Logan said.

Feeling bold, he leaned in for a kiss. Raul cupped his jaw, taking over. Their tongues and teeth tangled. Raul deepened the kiss and once he released Logan, Logan moaned into his mouth, wanting more. Reaching for the towel, around Raul’s waist, Logan’s breath hitched when Raul grabbed his wrist.

  “You want my cock, baby?”

  “You know I do.”

“Tell me the three little words I can’t get enough of hearing,” Raul insisted.

Logan groaned, but he loved saying them when he could anyway. “I love you.”

“Back at you, pup.” Raul released his wrist.

Knowing what to do, Logan went on his knees as Raul tugged the towel away to unveil his thickening erection. Licking his lips in anticipation, Logan went to work. Raul threaded his fingers into his hair and nudged his prick between Logan’s lips.

  Licking the pre-
cum gathered at Raul’s tip, Logan swirled and tongued Raul’s slit, loving the salty and musky taste of his mate. Opening his jaws wider, Logan took Raul inch by inch. Not neglecting Raul’s balls, he applied slight pressure to them while he took Raul’s dick down his throat. Bobbing his head up and down, Logan savored every appreciative groan that came out of his mate’s mouth.

“I’m going to shoot, pup,” Raul warned, tugging at his hair.

Knowing what Raul wanted Logan surrendered his control and let Raul fuck his mouth. After a few frenzied strokes, Raul emptied sticky strings of his cum down Logan’s waiting throat. Logan sucked down every bit, not spilling a drop.

After, Raul tugged him up for a kiss, tasting the both of them combined.

“Good job, baby,” Raul said, making him glow. “I want to be deep in you now. Hands and knees, pup.”

Logan got into position, wiggling his ass suggestively at Raul, who pulled out a tube of lube from their toy drawer as well as their favorite plug. When Raul returned, he gave Logan’s ass a smack, making Logan jump. Groaning, Logan earned himself another swat on the right ass cheek.

  “Be patient, pup.”

Raul nudged his legs farther apart. Feeling the cool gel enter his crack, Logan moaned in anticipation. Raul pushed one finger in him and a second, stretching him. Next, Raul pushed a third digit in, stretching him and finally nudging in the plug. Logan could feel the annoying toy constantly shifting in his ass.

Walking in front of him, Raul smiled down at him fondly and caressed his hair. “Get me ready again, baby.”

  “Give me.”

Raul laughed. Logan gave him head once more, licking and sucking his way up Raul’s shaft until Raul was steel hard once more.

“You want this in you, pet?” Raul asked, slapping his dick against Logan’s cheeks, the pre-cum leaving a trail of pearl.

“I need you inside me, Raul,” Logan corrected.

Raul bent down and took his lips again. Fire slammed right into his chest and right to Logan’s hard prick. Finally, Raul returned to his ass, pulling out the plug. Logan felt a little empty once the toy was taken out, but he knew he’d feel the real thing soon. Raul gripped his hips and pushed his cockhead into his waiting hole.

Logan gasped when Raul sheathed himself all the way in, not pausing. He felt the mild burn of Raul’s entry, but knew Raul would make him fly soon.

“So good and tight for me, pet,” Raul murmured.

“Fuck me hard and good, baby. Please,” Logan uttered.

Raul began pistoning in and out of him, settling on a relentless rhythm. Each time Raul joined their bodies together, Logan could feel their wolves and souls becoming one. If this wasn’t heaven, Logan wasn’t sure what else was. Like he requested, Raul went deeper, faster, breaching Logan’s most intimate places.

Raul must have shifted the angle of his thrusts, because his next entry made Logan gasp.

“There, huh?” Raul hit his sweet spot over and over while Logan clawed at the carpeting, begging for more. At the same time, Raul reached for his needy prick and began stroking him, timing his thrusts with his stokes. The dual sensation of Raul’s dick moving in and out of his ass and Raul’s hand on his shaft nearly pushed Logan over the edge. He held himself back though. Not until he had Raul’s permission.

“Give it to me, pet. Let me hear you cry out my name,” Raul commanded, pinching his tip.

With a cry, Logan saw stars. The pressure building inside him burst and he came, spurting his seed all over Raul’s fingers. It wasn’t long before Raul reached climax, too. Pushing into Logan one more time, Raul let out a triumphant cry and spilled his cum inside Logan’s ass.

They collapsed against each other on the bed, panting, grinning like idiots.

“Our best yet,” Logan murmured once he recovered.

“No, baby.” Raul pulled him close for another toe-curling kiss. His mate looked Logan deep in the eyes. “Our best is yet to come.”
