Hitching the Pitcher Page 18

by Rebecca Connolly

“What?” Grizz demanded. “That we’re here or that you actually agreed to marry Skeeter? Cuz I can’t believe that one myself.”

Sawyer hissed and slugged his friend in the arm.

“Eyyyy Skeeter, epically romantic, man!” Remy called as he skipped forward from where he’d evidently watched by the entrance.

Sawyer rolled his eyes and waved at his teammate. “Can it, Remy.”

Remy snickered, then turned to the Pack with a huge grin. “SIX PACK! Got room for a seventh, boys? I know all the cheers!”

A loud whistle turned Sawyer back to the park, and he saw Mace and Jess walking out, arms around each other. Mace held a fist up in the air. “She say yes?”

Erica flashed her ring in the lights of the stadium. “I said yes!”

Mace released another more suggestive whistle. “Yeah, baby! Party it up! We got you guys Sunday night, okay? See you, lovebirds!” A few more fireworks went off, and Mace laughed loudly. “Nice touch, Skeet!”

Sawyer laughed, shaking his head. “If only I were that creative.”

“Oh, stop,” Erica scolded with a slap to his chest. “It was perfect.”

He turned to her, pulling her close and grinning. “You’re perfect, you know that?”

“Hardly,” she corrected with a snort.

“Mmm, pretty close,” he insisted. “Guys?”

They all nodded and agreed with varying answers, making them both laugh. “See?” Sawyer told her. “Consensus reigns.”

“Never let it be said that the Six Pack was wrong,” Erica drawled, slipping her arms around his waist.

“It never has been said,” he assured her pompously. “Never will be.”

“Of course not,” she agreed with a nod.

  “The world would end.”

  “It would.”

  “Belltown would crumble.”

  “We can’t have that.”

Sawyer grinned down at the woman he loved, the one he adored, and he marveled at his good fortune. “Hail to Belltown,” he murmured, leaning close.

“And down they go,” Erica replied softly, arching up to kiss him.

The Six Pack whooped and hollered their approval.

  And were adamantly ignored.
