“We must return to the battleship at once,” Trist said, popping back up to his feet.
“I’m not having the baby for a little while yet. Probably eight months or more. We have time.” I watched as he raked his hand through his light hair.
“I sense your amusement,” he said, glaring at Brax. “How can I protect Miranda and a child?”
“She has two mates,” Brax prompted, as if offended.
“That is of no help, Brax. When we have four children, we will be outnumbered. How will we cope, second?” Trist asked Brax. “We shall require a battle strategy.”
Brax nodded. “We shall formulate a plan immediately upon our return to the Zakar.”
I held up my hand. “Guys, you need to chill out. And what’s this about four children? Four?”
Both men looked to me and grinned. “You enjoyed making the first one,” Brax said, waggling his eyebrows like Natalie often did.
I couldn’t argue with that. “I’m not a brood mare. We’ll see how this first one goes.”
Both men frowned. “What is a brood mare? I sense it is not a good thing. As your mates, we will ensure you are never one,” Trist said, Mr. Black and White.
“Then like I said, we’ll see how the first one works out,” I grumbled.
Trist went as white as a sheet, then looked to Brax. “Works out? Why shouldn’t this baby work out? Brax, you must put her in a ReGen pod immediately. She needs to be scanned. Did you bring your medical equipment?”
Natalie laughed and Roark came over—all battle stations ready mode shut down—and slapped Trist on the back. “I’ve been through this and trust me, the fear of something happening to your mate will ease the moment you see your baby. Then you’ll panic about him… or her.”
He was grinning. Trist was not. I bit my lip so as not to grin too much.
This was going to be so much fun, watching my two mates deal with me being pregnant, then having a baby. God, a baby!
I looked up at my men, all stoic and stuffy, calm and cool, and completely panicked.
Yes, they were mine. They were insane, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
