Then again, her father would never get to see them win or see his daughters go to a world that was far better than this.
Sophia got over her initial shock and buried him without a word. Heather was expecting her to be angrier at her for even going on this journey and indirectly causing her father's death but she...she just didn't say anything. She didn't even shoot a look at her conveying her disappointment. The group just buried his body and stood there while Heather tried to give a eulogy that she kept on pausing during.
And then with that she just dipped her head and said what she was feeling:
"I'm going to miss you dad."
Her father was in many respects the primary parent to both of them. Whereas her mother was a rather adventurous and daring woman her father was a bit more grounded and practical. He wanted what was best for his daughters, realistically, and worked hard to achieve it. He was warm and caring and actually seemed human...her mother was this idea, this rebellion that lived inside of her but a great deal of her humanity came from this man.
And she was proud to have him.
His grave wasn't much, just a small mound of some red sand near the mountain. The group turns away and looks in the general direction of her mother's contacts soon after a moment of silence for her father. Everyone seemed so despondent now and for the rest of the day hardly a word was said.
And no bandits attacked, nor monsters.
It was a cruel joke that once the weakest member of their party had perished that the world seemingly lost interest in harming them. They kept on striding forward, Heather was always at Nakiel's side and despite the silence the two did share the occasional look that made her cheeks burn. Sophia was in the back, mindlessly counting her steps as her long brown hair flicked the rocks.
The two sisters hadn't said a word to one another since her father's death.
Heather wanted to say something to break the awkward silence but Sophia was always so....cold, she was always critical and focused on something else, she didn't have time to listen to her little sister and that hurt, it really did. She remembered how Sophie was before their mother died, she was warmer, more protective but in a friendlier manner than the way she was now.
Heather dreaded to think of what the effects of her father dying would be on her sister. She didn't want the family to splinter even more than it already had, the idea just broke her heart.
That night they were able to find a path up the mountain. It was colder here and there was slightly more water. Heather was honestly surprised that there weren't more droids up this path considering the fact that they loved these sorts of valleys but it probably was the moisture that kept them away, considering all the issues with rust and maintenance that they would face.
Not to mention that there wasn't that much to grow here other than food for the humans which came plenty in the caverns in the deserts anyways with all the fungus and what not. The main industry here was solar and that was probably not going to be found here with all the trees and craggy overheads.
He's perched up on one of the boulders and she tips over towards him. Sophia was bundled up in a ball, trying to get to sleep. Heather probably should have been resting as well considering what had happened but she didn't want it, not right now. The thing that she needed right now was some sort of emotional support.
"I'm sorry about your father, I truly am. I have failed you." He begins before she even has a chance to say anything to him.
He bowed his head, in the light of the moons his white locks shone wonderfully, his blue skin almost looked like it was glimmering like the sea itself from this angle. She smiles and shakes her head, it wasn't my fault, he did all that he could against insurmountable odds. The fact that they were still alive was all because of him.
"It's not your fault....your wounds." Heather then said as she remembered that he had been bleeding on his back yesterday.
He shakes his head but she walks over and lifts his shirt up to see that....the shrapnel was gone, surprisingly. There were no marks that remained to indicate that he had even been harmed in fact. There was nothing, no blood....he had held during the amount of time that it took to walk here. They would reach this new location soon enough, tomorrow in fact.
But the fact that he didn't need medical care after receiving wounds like that was....it was astounding to her.
"Are you sure you're alright?" she asks him and he nods.
"I'll be fine, don't you worry about me girl." He reaffirms his confidence.
"We Verotans are built to last, to endure."
She wanted to roll her eyes but she knew that he meant it and could back it up so she settled for a small grin. Her head rests against his shoulder in an affectionate gesture that didn't entirely make sense to her. After all she had met this man not that long ago and was already acting like this with him but something about it just felt natural, like she was meant to do this with him, like she was meant to be near, to tend to him.
She rather liked the feeling in fact. She liked it quite a bit.
Her blond hair clashes against his blue skin and for a moment they were truly at peace. They still had a rather insurmountable quest ahead of them but for just a moment Nakiel would allow himself to take this in. Her breath was so gentle, so fragile, he knew that he had to protect every bit of her. She was his mate, she was meant to be the woman that he would spend an eternity with.
And he would not have another failure like today. He would not allow himself to fail once again.
"She's not speaking to me you know. Even for her that's unusual considering the fact that she usually talks to me at least once in a while." Remarked Heather while she glanced over at her sister who was merely gazing despondently at the rocks.
Nakiel wondered what their bond as siblings was like. He and his brothers cared deeply for one another considering the fact that they were the only family that they had left. They only had one another and thus it was wise to be close, to know one another in and out. Heather and her sister seemed completely counter to that, they were constantly at odds and didn't seem to be friendly with one another at all.
"She's still mourning." Nakiel observed.
"No it's not that...I think she might have even known that dad wouldn't make it considering all his health problems but there's something else. She...I'm afraid that she's going to change again, you know? That she's going to stop talking to me altogether. I don't want to lose her." Heather remarks. Nakiel shuts his eyes, "Then you must speak to her at once." "But....what do I even say?" "The first step of being brave is to act." Nakiel's words offered council, council in the form of rather harsh truth yet council nonetheless. Heather didn't know what to say to her sister but she was going to try, she was going to give it her best shot for the sake of their relationship. Sophia seemed broken at times, like she had lost the guiding light in her life altogether. Heather never wanted to be like that, she never wanted to lose focus. She was determined to see her goals through for better or worse and she wouldn't stop until they were fulfilled.
"Do you miss your siblings?" Heather asks.
Nakiel shrugs, "They have their missions. I do miss their companionship but it is a tricky thing...brotherhood. I feel their pain as if it was my own I feel everything that they feel....and I hope that they succeed. Not much of a kingdom if it's only two people." Nakiel states and runs his finger along Heather's cheek.
"Must be lonely, knowing that you're one of the last." Heather mutters.
Nakiel pulls her in after seeing that Sophia had nodded off. He kisses her and then lifts her up to take her to a more secluded spot.
"Not when I have you as a mate."
CHAPTER TEN
They end up in a secluded spot in the small ravine that they were in. Heather wondered how far he had walked but when she looked back she still saw the pack that she had set on the rock so she knew that it couldn't have been that far.
He sets her down on the ground, it was softer here, not the harsh roc
k that she was used to. This was soil, there was actual life beneath her even if it was just some moss. It did wonders for her lungs to be able to breathe in this sort of air, she only took a moment to take it all in however as he soon pulled her in for another kiss.
And this one didn't stop.
He rolls his tongue against her as their lips clash again and again, he leans in and she can feel his thick member swelling as he slips off his shorts to reveal himself entirely to her. All of his clothing falls to the wayside, as does her's, and they both take one another in. She runs her hands over the walls of muscles that were along his back while he rests his hands on her breasts, massaging the flesh and rolling the nipples under his fingers while she continues to moan for him. Her eyes had shut and she moaned as he pinched her nipples and pulled before kissing her neck and traveling down towards her breasts to peck at them. He rolls his tongue back and forth to flick her nipples before gently biting them while she squeals in pleasure. She could feel herself getting wetter and wetter.
There was this animalistic look in his eye, like he didn't want to give her up. She welcomed it, as she wanted him to be every bit of who he truly was with her. She wanted him to submit to his desires and she wanted to fulfill them, that was all that she wanted at this point. The will of her body was outweighing everything else at the moment and she would be damned if she didn't let herself have this respite.
His face rests against the mound right before her crotch and he only teases her at first. He licks her thighs and kisses the spots near her crotch to elicit more of a reaction out of her and she begins to moan as he does so. She was practically begging him with her eyes, those two sapphire orbs glimmering in the night as he explored her lower body with his tongue. His lips pursed near her folds and she squeals as he begins to suckle, her pale flesh shivers against his blue tones and his muscles tense as he takes a hold of her thighs. And then he rests his mouth on her folds and begins to run his tongue up and down, pressing it against her clit while she whimpers for him. Her legs clenched against her cheeks, she continued, she was close already, he could feel it.
She presses her flesh into his cheek bones as he digs his fingers into her, curling them upwards so he could strike that spot that she adored so much. She shuts her eyes and whimpers as her hands cinch around the back of his head to pull him in even more. He was growling now, the vibrations of his voice causing her flesh to shiver and causing the stimulation to grow even greater. Her mouth was agape and all that was escaping now were simply moans, her hair flings over her chest in a mess of blonde strands and she shivers as she feels him sink his fingers deeper, stretching her as he targets that one spot that made her feel incredible.
And he doesn't stop.
The pleasure is almost never-ending for her, she continually feels his shivering inside of her, rushing his hands against all the spots that he knew would make her moan. She was getting closer and closer before he dragged himself away from her and presented her with his immense cock. It swelled next to her mouth and she licked it once instinctively as he twitched in her mouth. She loved it, she loved the taste of him.
And yet he was still in control. He grabs the back of her head and pulls her in as his tip dashes along her tongue and rubs the roof of her mouth. She runs her lips along his member several times, rushing her tongue along the bottom of it while he continues to swell inside of her. He grabs the sides of her head and drives himself deeper, stopping right before the point that would make her cough. He holds her there and continues to drip his arousal onto her tongue, his seed was swelling already and he was close to exploding for her, close to simply giving her all that he had pent up over the day.
But he holds himself back. He doesn't want to gush all over her mouth.
He wants to pour himself into her.
He grabs her wrists and pins her against the wall before he lifts her leg and digs himself into her entrance while she stood there. Her walls clenched him as soon as he entered, his incredible size was able to both stretch her out and pleasure her to an incredible degree without causing her any pain. Her breasts shake against his muscular chest as he presses into her, her stomach rubs his rock hard abs and she whimpers while she continually feels her juices spill out onto his member. His tip was getting deeper and deeper, rubbing at all the right angles to make her scream, to entice her to scream even more. Her eyes had shut and her teeth clenched as he pulled her in for another kiss, he sniffed her neck and kissed her once there, rushing his tongue against her soft flesh whilst she whimpered from the stimulation.
She was so close, so very close.
He takes in the scent of her hair. After all, he has never been this close with another being before, let alone a human. It was his first experience with the creatures and she was proving to be quite the specimen. They seemed so weak and fragile but in her he found strength, a beauty that existed as a result of her rebellion and her need to save those around her. They were kindred spirits really and he could feel her now, he could feel every bit of her pressing up against him as her legs quivered the faster he thrusted. He was going faster and faster, his tip digging into her special spot that caused juice to spill out onto his hard member that dug deeper and deeper until.....
"I'm cumming." She moaned softly, even with the shield up she felt the need to silence herself, something that caused Nakiel a bit of disappointment but something he ignored.
For he was about to explode inside of her as well.
He gushes his long ropes of seed all over her walls as she holds him close. Her breasts contort against his chest and their nipples rub together as they are both consumed by the fire of lust. She feels herself clenching around him, holding him in place as the long ropes of hot seed spill out over her walls. She was dripping onto him to a large degree now and the pleasure didn't seem to end for her as she continued to shiver. Her hands dash in wild patterns over his muscular back the deeper he dug into her, the deeper he pressed. He left himself inside of her, letting his wet member rest for a moment before he pulls himself out of her and lets the heat drip onto the floor. She looks at him and shivers as if she was asking for more but he could see that she was tired as much as he wanted to continue their game.
Now was the time for rest.
"Come, you have much to look forward to tomorrow my mate." He says as he stretches out his cloak and invites her into his embrace which she takes.
She rests with her head against his chest and the night falls upon them both. They were both back at camp now and for the first time since they had set out on this quest they had a full night of sleep to themselves. It was a peace that Heather would cherish forever.
For there were much more daunting trials ahead, even more daunting than the ones that they had already faced.
CHAPTER ELEVEN
Heather tried to summon the courage to speak to her sister that morning.
Nakiel had given her the opportunity after explaining that he was going to climb a nearby rock formation to scout their surroundings. He would be gone a few minutes...she didn't know if that was going to be enough for what she was about to do. She needed time to get along with her sister, to try and speak to her but...it was quickly becoming apparent that Sophie was more than just laconic at this point.
She was broken.
She had lost her way in a lot of respects, all that she had to base her life around was gone at this point and she was....lost. Taking care of her father and sister had been all that she had, working that job and earning enough to perhaps eke out something better was all that was on her side. And now after their exodus and the departure of both parents there was something else there now....there was this melancholy that was ever present and that seeped into every action that she took. It filled the morning air as Heather stood there, leaning against a rock with her hands against it, her side pressed up against the red sandstone while she watched her sister shiver whilst packing.
"Sophie." Heather called out gently.
The gi
rl didn't respond, she just kept doing what she was doing, rushing her hands over her belongings to pack them even quicker.
"Sophie!" Heather calls out again.
Sophia glares at her, her entire body quakes and suddenly the blond begins to see tears spill out from the sides of her sister's eyes. The girl was belligerent and she immediately stomps over, dragging her half-packed bag with her before grabbing Heather by the shoulders and growling:
"What?"
Heather froze, she didn't know what to say to the woman. She had always listened to Sophia, she had always acted subservient and obeyed every word, even if she was still hung up on everything that she had said. Sophia pauses and lets go, backing away before crumbling onto the floor.
It was a sight Heather never would have expected nor would have liked to see.
Her sister, despite all of the personality traits that she could do away with, was one of the strongest people that she had ever met. The girl was hardened by all the years of loss and hardship but it seemed like she had reached her breaking point. Heather never thought of her sister as someone that could crumble more easily than her.
But perhaps it was due to Sophie's belief in stability that....that caused her to crumble like this, her unwillingness to change had caused her to lose all that her soul was built upon, all that her soul was built upon.
Heather rests a hand on her sister's shoulder and pulls her in for an embrace. The two women cradle one another in that little clearing in the mountains, the two of them joined together as the tears trickled down their counterpart's shoulder.
"I just...I don't know what to believe anymore." Sophie pleads with her sister, a mess of tears welling on her cheeks.
"Believe in change, believe in us. I'm not asking for the world Sophie....i'm just asking you to follow my lead this time." Heather stated.
When her sister didn't respond Heather thought it would be best to continue.
