“If you’re packing nine inches in those trousers, then just call me the Jolly Green Giant.”
“To be honest, I haven’t actually checked the situation down there since we started this lovely little journey. It kind of freaks me out to even think about what I might find if I actually take a peek when I pull down my pants to take a leak. Hell...can I even see the damn thing with this fucking belly in the way?” he shivers, clearly disgusted with the thought. “I may never get to see my impressive cock again.”
Brenna just chuckles. The sound doing strange things inside my chest.
I see Liam’s smirk before he hides it. Damn him. He purposely changed the subject to take her mind off the current crazy we’re facing. Something tells me he’s catching feelings for my girl too and I’m just not sure how I feel about that. Or the fact that I just referred to her as my girl. Fuck!
The Troll
The smile on Brenna’s face makes my stomach feel funny. Or that could be all the fat that jiggles when I move. Hard to tell. But there’s no denying that something about her calls to something inside of me. And that thought doesn’t terrify me nearly as much as everything else about the situation we’ve found ourselves in.
If someone had told me that I would have another form - troll would not have been my first guess. Mage, maybe...or something equally as badass. If what this guy says is true, though, this isn’t the best representation of my other half. Maybe in truth he’s taller, leaner, with abs and muscles upon muscles. I don’t actually mind the hair. It’s growing on me. Literally.
“So, let’s summarize this shall we?” I start. “We have these other sides of ourselves, that in this...place...we can let free. Obviously we’re behind the curve a bit here, but our best bet would be to learn how to control them, practice our powers and then head for this Gateway you mentioned so we can get the fuck out of here.”
“It’s not going to be that easy, jackass,” the grumpy ogre mutters.
“I never said it would be easy,” I retort, tired of his constant negativity. “Just that it’s our best bet if we want to go home.”
“I’d have to agree with the little man,” the bartender nods.
I don’t take offense. “Brenna? What do you think?” I ask hesitantly.
Her thin lips pucker and her rather substantial nose scrunches up while she thinks. It really should not be cute - at all - but damned if it doesn’t light a little fire in my belly.
“I think you’re right, Liam. But that could take days. Where will we stay? We have no money and no spare clothes.”
Before I can formulate a response, the bartender replies, “I’ve gotta admit, I’m feeling pretty bad for you kids. Normally I try to stay out of the outsider’s business, but in this case, maybe I can help. There’s a room above the bar you can use for the next week - or until you can gain a little control over your other forms. Maybe you can help out around here, cleaning or cooking or bartending, and in return I’ll make sure you have food and spare clothes.”
Max eyes the man, clearly trying to determine if we can trust him. Can’t say I blame the big guy. We’ve both become pretty protective over our little witch, even though he does his best to hide it. Having made a decision, he turns to Brenna, surprising me.
“It's your call,” he answers gruffly.
Brenna bites her bottom lip while she thinks it over and I’ll be damned if my whatever-size troll dick doesn’t surge a little at the sight. Guess I might have to take a gander down there after all.
“I think it’s our only option if we want to make it home safely,” she pauses for a moment, turning to look at each of us, the fierce expression locked back into place. “And I promise you both that we will get home.”
And I believe her. Everything inside me trusts this woman that I barely know and I will do everything in my power to help her keep her promise.
“Let’s do this!” I agree.
“Um...but one thing,” she says and I can hear the laughter in her voice.
“What’s that, Babe?”
“I call the bed.”
Only then do I realize what the bartender said. One room. One bed. Three of us. This could get really interesting and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to it.
