Second Chance With A Firefighter (Rich & Rugged: A Hawkins Brothers Romance Book 1) Page 10

by Ellie Hall

She saw his profile first. It was familiar and he was in need of a shave, but the look was rugged, manly. He was photogenic, definitely model material. She imagined snapping photos of him. Then came his dreamy brown eyes. Had he smiled, there’d have been a dimple. His hair was trim and brown but dusted gold by long days in the sunshine.

Kayla blinked a few times as little zings whizzed through her—a sensation she hadn’t experienced in a long time.

He held out his hand but she somehow floated to her feet on her own and brushed off. Had something tripped in her chest? Were there butterflies in her stomach? Had the world just flipped?

“You okay?” he asked. But it was loud enough that mostly she read his lips—they were full and perfect. Everything about him was picture perfect.

  She nodded, entranced.

He turned back around as the line shifted forward.

She cleared her throat and tapped him on the shoulder.
