Part I - The Zee Brothers & JJ
RING!
A decayed hand stretched toward the group passed out on the bed. It’s yellow-gray fingers grasped at the air, a low groan escaped the dead man as he gnashed his teeth together and tugged at his binds, straining to reach the three humans. Drool dripped from his chin.
RING!
In the bed lay a naked woman, face down, strawberry-blonde hair a mass of tangles. On each side of her lay equally naked men, deep in slumber. The smell of stale booze and smoke hung in the air. Each of the woman's hands caressed the cheek of the man on either side. She smiled in her drunken haze as she awoke and relived thoughts of how she’d gotten there. JJ Hembrook, you’ve really done it this time.
RING!
Larry, still wearing his cheerleading costume from Halloween, looked away from the group and out toward where the phone rang.
JJ gave the brothers’ cheeks a gentle squeeze and rolled over, cursing the sound of the phone and ultimately giving in to her bladder’s gentle insistence to get up and go relieve herself. She slid between them to the end of the bed and stepped off the mattress, nudging Xanadu out of the way with her foot. He looked up at his mama with a yawn, then let his eyes drift closed.
Near the door, Larry reached out for her, still chained to the bolt they had hooked him to as they rushed to get into the house and get naked during the wee hours. She shook her head at the memory. It had started simply enough, a celebration for Judas passing his driver’s exam and finally getting his license…
They’d gone out to a breakfast buffet. Pancakes, waffles, all the bacon, sausage, and ham they could pile on their plates, which they gorged on until noon. By the time they left the restaurant, they’d been getting ugly looks from the manager, but being up all night killing zombies left a person with an appetite.
After that, they stopped to get gas and decided to grab a beer at the pub next to the gas station. Things were calm until someone ordered the Four Horsemen, a shot of Jack Daniels, Johnny Walker, Jim Beam and Jameson’s whiskey. That’s when things got interesting. Somewhere in the several hours drink-fest that ensued, JJ suggested they stop with the endless flirting and get to it. When the brothers both set their drinks on the table, picked her up, and headed for the door, she giggled and relaxed into their grips.
Now, she stepped out into their converted garage, a little hung over, still buzzed, and sore in all the right places. She glanced back at the bed before heading to the bathroom. He might be goofy most of the time but in the bedroom, Judas sure knew how to take control. Jonah too, especially with how he used rope to bind her and leave her at their mercy. She grinned, her whole body shivering in goose flesh. They must’ve done that before… I’ll have to ask them about that when they wake up.
The phone stopped its ringing, and she sighed with relief. It’s too damn early. I need coffee! She shuffled across the frigid cement and closed herself in the bathroom, squatting, closing her eyes and resting her forehead on the palms of her hands. “Whoa, what a doozy!”
Pots, their gray and black tabby, sauntered up and rubbed himself against her shins. She reached out and scratched behind his ears, noticing the imprint of rope left on her wrists and smiling. “Good morning, little fluff ball.”
A glance in the mirror confirmed what she felt. She looked rough, but happy. In the garage, a dim glow came in from the windows as dawn awakened. She was almost back to Jonah’s bedroom door when she heard his phone ring again. She looked over and saw it plugged in on the kitchen counter, light flashing as it vibrated across the surface. She moved to answer it and make sure it wasn’t urgent, it was way too early for someone to be calling.
The caller ID read ‘Unknown’, but she answered it anyway.
“Zombie Exterminators, this is JJ, how can I help you?”
There was a moment of heavy breathing, causing JJ to glance at the caller ID once again to make sure she hadn’t misread it. Maybe it was an ex they haven’t mentioned?
A raspy female voice spoke. “I’m coming for you!” And then broke out into maniacal laughter! “Hahahahahahaha!”
JJ blinked and held the phone away from her ear. “You’re too late. Halloween was two days ago. Save your pranks for next year.” She hit the ‘end call’ button and set the phone down. “Crazy bitch.” She shivered as a cool draft raised goose-pimples across her flesh. “Now, where did my panties end up last night?”
She wandered back to the bedroom, hugging her arms to her chest to stay warm and running her tongue around her mouth. Ugh, tastes like an ashtray. At the bedroom, she looked in and grinned. Jonah sat up in the disheveled bed, rubbing his temples. Beer cans, pieces of colored rope, and the clothes they had worn last night littered the floor, along with a half-smoked joint sitting in the window sill. Her t-shirt hung from the light fixture on the ceiling. How did that get there? She reached up on her tiptoes and yanked it free before smiling at Jonah. “Hey there, hot stuff! How you feeling?”
Jonah looked at her through blurry and swollen eyes. “Miserable.” He smirked. “But better seeing you. Who was that on the phone?”
“I don’t know. I think someone forgot Halloween was over. I told them to save their prank calls for next year,” she said as she glanced around the room for her underwear. “Do you remember what you did with my panti—” She stopped, her face tightening as she spied Xanadu at the edge of the bed chomping away, red cotton sticking out of his mouth. “XANADU!” she shouted, causing everyone to jump.
Judas rolled over, sitting up and blinking as
he took in what was happening in the room. JJ bent, grabbed the bit of material hanging from Xanadu’s mouth, and yanked her underwear free. They felt soaked through and completely unwearable. She smacked him on the nose with them. “Bad dog!” She shook her head in frustration as he cowered and scooted away. She yelled again. “You! Perverted! Little! Puppy!” She emphasized each word with a slap of the panties against the mattress. “He steals them all the time at home,” she muttered to the brothers.
Xanadu stood, hopped onto the floor, and ran into the garage, tail down, disappearing into the kitchen. She glowered after him, then her shoulders slumped as he glanced back, his eyes wet and wide. The hurt of being scolded by his mistress was evident in his big bulging eyes.
JJ’s heart ached just as much as her head. “Uggh. This is not a good way to start the day. Guess I’ll be going commando until I can get back to my apartment.”
She slipped the shirt over her shoulders and pulled it down, her cold nipples poking through the dark material. “Oh, I feel bloated. All those pancakes yesterday, and beer. You sure you boys know what you’ve gotten yourself into?” Her cheeks warmed, and she looked at them for reassurance.
Both brothers stared at her chest with swollen, tired eyes.
Yet she could tell by the smiles on their faces that they enjoyed the sight of her standing there. JJ chuckled. “I see you both look as run over as I am.” She put a knee on the bed, then placed a hand on the blankets, moving toward the brothers and raising her eyebrows. “Let's do a repeat of last night and then take a nap!” Her grin widened as they both beamed back at her. She crawled up the bed, moving toward them, letting out a long purr.
Jonah responded first, scooting back and making room for her approach. “Come here, little kitty.” He patted his palm on the space he’d cleared between them. Judas continued to stare, open-mouthed and eager. JJ bent low, arching her back and giving them a pleasant view of her curves, her mouth opening as she approached their naked forms.
The roar of an engine sounded from outside, something big, like a semi or motor home. JJ froze as both brothers glanced at each other with raised eyebrows. A loud crash sounded, followed by the screech of twisting metal, then the brakes of a big rig hissing to a stop just outside.
Jonah jumped out of the bed and rushed to the window. He opened the curtain and peered into the dimly lit parking lot. The rear of a semi-trailer jutted through the smashed entry gate of their home, which was an old mechanic’s shop. “What the hell?”
“What is it, Jonah?” Judas asked, getting out of bed.
Jonah searched the floor, found his pants and slipped them on.
JJ sighed. “So much for happy, happy fun time.”
“Someone’s driven a semi through our front gate.” Jonah buttoned his pants, still staring out the window.
JJ and Judas joined him. “Why the hell would someone do that?” Judas asked.
As if on cue, the back doors of the trailer opened. At first, they couldn’t see anything inside, then the shapes of people emerged, stumbling forward and falling from the trailer to the pavement in a heap. More and more came, adding to the pile before getting to their feet again.
“Are those what I think they are?” Judas asked.
Jonah nodded slowly, his eyes widening. They let out a collective gasp as, before them, the eyes of a hundred or more dead turned bright green and charged toward the shop.
Part II - Sayonara Larry-San
“Put some clothes on,” Jonah barked, “we’re under attack.”
“By who?”
Jonah shot Judas a glaring look. “By whoever was behind the outbreak at Burt’s and right now it really doesn’t matter. Get your clothes on and meet me in the armory!” Jonah bolted from the room, squeezing JJ’s arm as he passed.
JJ had her pants on and buttoned them up, glancing at Judas who stared out the window, still completely naked except a lone white ankle sock on his left foot. The reflection of his manhood showed in the glass as the first of the zombies smacked against it, their groans filling the room.
“C’mon, sugar,” she called out to him, “we don’t want them biting your sweet meat.”
“Huh?” Judas swung his head around, shaking it, the sluggishness from the night before clear on his face. He looked himself over and muttered. “Shit.” His cheeks burned red and he bent, groping for a pair of jeans laying on the floor.
Three loud pops sounded and JJ screamed. The window where Judas had just been standing now had three bullet holes in it. They’d missed him, but the glass was cracking. She hit the ground at the end of the bed and yelled to him.
“Stay down! Someone’s shooting at us.”
“This is not helping my hangover,” Judas said, clutching his pants and crawling on all fours to meet JJ.
“Mine either.” She blinked her swollen eyes and grabbed his hand, tugging it to get him moving out of the room.
He looked up, mouth falling open, and the color draining from his face. JJ followed his gaze and gasped. The slumped form of Larry hung slack from the eye bolt on the wall. While the shots intended for Judas had missed, two red holes stood out in Larry’s chest, and the final bullet had removed half of his forehead.
“God damm—” Judas started, but the shattering of the window filled the room as a waterfall of glass rained onto the floor behind him, accompanied by the bodies of the dead bursting through.
They scrambled from the room on their hands and knees, Judas still naked. He stopped as soon as they were in the garage, spinning to grab the door to the bedroom and close it, but Larry’s body hung over part of it and he couldn’t get it shut. The zombies pouring into the room through the window were already on their feet and stumbling towards him.
“Go! Go!” Judas said, turning and pushing JJ toward the brother’s small armory in the back of the garage. “Jonah! We’ve got a problem!” he yelled ahead.
Jonah’s head popped from the room. “Different than a horde of green-eyed flesh eaters?”
“Yeah,” Judas said as he slipped a leg into his pants and hopped in that direction. “Someone’s shooting at us, they killed Larry and busted the window, they’re inside!”
“What?” Jonah’s eyes shot open and with a glance behind them, saw the first few already making their way from the bedroom in pursuit. He turned into the weapon’s locker and continued pulling guns off the rack, grabbing magazines and loading them. Someone was out to get them.
“Here!” Jonah shoved an AR-15 into Judas’s hands when he came in, shirtless and shoeless, his pants barely staying on his hips. “Mow them down!”
JJ ducked in behind Judas. “The Pink Lady is in my Charger. Give me something I can use.”
“Ok,” Jonah nodded. “How many are there?”
“A lot, a hundred, maybe more, they were pouring through the window.”
The assault rifle blasted, echoing into the small space and Jonah winced at the jarring sound. He handed JJ a Glock after checking that the magazine was full. “Have you ever used one of these?”
“Yeah.” She nodded. “I’ve got it. Do you have any explosives? Anything we can use to take them all out at once? They’ll overwhelm us in no time if they get too close.”
Jonah scanned the shelves looking for the wooden box where they kept the grenades. “We’ve got frag grenades and incendiary. We can’t use the latter unless we want to burn the place to the ground, and we’d have to land a frag in the bedroom to do us much good.”
“It might be worth a shot!” she shouted.
The assault rifle quieted.
“Yeehaw!” Judas cried, wiping sweat from his forehead. “If we weren’t about to die, I’d say this was a friggin blast! I love putting out that damn green glow of theirs. I need another mag, stat!”
Jonah handed it to JJ, then turned back to the grenades. Should we? His brow furrowed as he reached into the box.
Behind him, JJ stepped out, handing the magazine to Judas and then bringing the Glock to bear on the nearest of the
dead. Judas had done a good job taking out a dozen of them, creating an obstacle course that tripped up many of the others. She fired and kept things clear until he had the rifle loaded and ready again.
“Ok! Let’s do this!” he shouted.
JJ took position on one knee, clearing space for Judas to do what needed doing, and took aim at two crawlers sneaking their way across the floor. She dropped them with ease, satisfied to see that eerie green light in their eyes fade as her shots found their mark, and then turned to her right to find Judas’s unbuttoned pants slipping from his waist. His bare skin trembled with each blast from the gun. She waited until he paused firing, then set the Glock on the ground and reached up grabbing the sides of his jeans.
“Let me help you get these buttoned so they don’t trip you up!”
He looked down, eyes widening as he realized his pants had fallen to his knees and he stood naked without them, his manhood hanging out right next to JJ’s face. She smirked at him as she pulled the blue jeans up and over his hips, snapping the top button into place.
“Keep us alive, big guy, and I’ll take those back off you later!”
His mouth fell open, cheeks reddening. Even in the midst of chaos, she had a way of lighting his world on fire. “You got it, JJ! I’m going to clean house!” He let loose with the assault rifle, dropping some of the zombies coming out of the bedroom.
In the weapons locker, Jonah slid a piece of body armor over his shoulders before picking up a frag grenade. The thought of what it would do to their home sank a lump in his stomach, but he knew that only mattered if they lived. He pulled the pin, clutched the safety lever and stepped out behind the others.
