“DESERVED! Nigga, I put you on when you weren’t even blood! Me! Without me, you would have still been robbing old ladies in the fucking street!” Wrath’s voice bounced off the warehouse walls.
Richard just stood there looking at Wrath with nothing to say.
“Do what you came to do, brother,” Richard responded, and Wrath chuckled.
“Okay, on that note, does anyone have anything they wanna tell me?”
Silence.
Wrath turned to look at us, and before anyone could move, we pulled our guns and lit their asses up. Wrath took out Richard with two shots to his head.
Once everyone was dead, Wrath just stood there staring into space.
“You don’t think it’s over do, you?” I asked Wrath.
“No.”
I didn’t think so either because something in Richard’s eyes told me he wasn’t where it started or ended.
“Keep y’all eyes open. Do you understand?” Wrath commanded, and we nodded.
“Who’s going to take over for Richard?” Guns asked on our way out of the warehouse as Wrath called the cleanup crew.
“Pac and his people,” Wrath responded without even looking up at Guns.
After the cleanup crew came, Wrath gave them instructions, and we left.
All three of us sat silently in our thoughts, with only the radio playing in the background.
When Wrath pulled up to a red light, I randomly looked out of the window, and when I did, I spotted Trojan’s Range.
“Wrath,” I called, and when he turned to look back at me, his eyes caught what I was going to tell him.
Systematically, we all grabbed our guns as Trojan’s eyes landed on Wrath’s car. The four of us sat at the red light just looking at each other—silently waiting for someone to make the first move.
Wrath’s eyes darted back to me, and I nodded, already knowing what my brother was saying. Just as I went to roll down my window and point my gun out, two patrol cars pulled up behind our cars.
“Not now,” Wrath said, and I guess Trojan saw the cops too because when the light turned green, he sped away and turned right.
“He had someone in the back too. Looked like a chick from the hair,” I told Wrath, who had now moved away from the red light. “Probably his daughter.”
Wrath sighed heavily, and I knew why.
Shit was popping off from all angles.
We had Trojan, the detective, a new crew, and now a snake in our camp. We couldn’t catch a fucking break!
The ride back to my Uncle’s was a quiet one, and all I kept thinking was that the worst was yet to come!
Alvaro ‘Wrath’ Ramsey
The next day
Things were finally back to normal—well as normal as it could be—Surge was home recovering from his wounds, so I could finally get back some type of normalcy.
The first thing on my list was to getting Brittany and KeKe since I wasn’t able to do that when I promised. After Surge went missing, I did nothing but walk the streets looking for him. The whole six days he had been gone, I had hardly been home or seen Ma for that matter.
I just couldn’t rest or sleep until I found my brother. Thank God, it was Dior who found him.
I thought that I would have been crushed after killing Richard and his crew, but I wasn’t. I felt some sort of relief, even though I knew he wasn’t the only one. For now, my focus was on my family.
Pulling up outside of Brittany’s house, I sent her a quick text to let her know that I was outside.
Last night, I didn’t get home until after one in the morning, and for the last two days, I was barely home. I hadn’t even seen Ma since Friday morning—she was still asleep, surprisingly, when I left this morning—but I knew once KeKe got there, that was going to change.
A few minutes later, I climbed out of my car when I saw Brittany open the front door, and KeKe came running out full speed ahead.
“Heyyyyy Daddy’s baby, what’s good?” I kissed all over her face and nibbled on her neck, making her giggle and squirm trying to get away from me.
Once we finished our moment, I looked up to see Brittany looking at me with an attitude displaying all over her face.
I knew that she was mad as fuck that it had been over a week since I had seen or fucked her for that matter. But she would just have to understand that shit.
“Hello, Brittany.” I greeted her and was met with an eyeroll and mumble.
“Wrath,” was her only greeting to me.
I felt like telling her ass to stay home, but instead, I kept my mouth closed and put KeKe in the back.
This was classic Brittany. As long as I gave her money and dick, she was happy as fuck. If I even delayed by a day on either, there were problems.
Still with an attitude, Brittany climbed into the car.
“You know your ass is going home at the end of the night, right? I ain’t got time for you fucking my whole weekend up with that childish shit,” I simply said then cranked up the car and peeled out.
“You said we were going to spend the weekend together—you promised. And now you wanna change your mind, Wrath?”
Making sure it was safe to do so, I quickly looked over at her.
“Read your text again, I said I promised to spend the whole day with you not the weekend. I had plans to do that, but I changed my mind now. If you can’t understand that I was looking for my fucking brother and working, I’m not going to waste my time explaining that to you. You too grown, Brittany.” I shook my head and turned up my music.
Any ideas of dicking her down to tame her little attitude and having them over for the weekend went out the window when she slammed my fucking car door. I was too old for this bullshit she wanted to do.
Brittany huffed and folded her arms over her chest, but she damn sure didn’t say shit else the whole ride back to my crib.
When we got there, KeKe took off running as soon as I opened the front door. I laughed knowing she was heading right for Ma’s room to terrorize her life.
“Would you like a drink or anything? Something to eat?” I offered Brittany since KeKe went on about her business.
“No.”
I didn’t even say another fucking thing to her; I just walked past her and headed for my room. Because I came home so late last night, I fell asleep and forgot to charge my phone, so I went to put my phone on the charger.
Brittany followed me and walked around my room checking shit out. I knew what she was looking for—evidence of another chick—but she was wasting her time. The only fucking I did in my house was with Brittany, and that’s because my daughter came there. I didn’t allow women to be where I had my daughter, no one except her mother.
After all these years Brittany had fucked with me, she should have known that.
I put my phone on the charger and turned to watch her trying to discreetly search my shit with my arms folded across my chest.
“You done?” I questioned, making her jump and look at me.
“Done what?”
“Checking to see if you can find any proof of another female being in here.”
Her face changed, but she tried to recover with a fake smile.
“I wasn’t checking for that. I was just admiring your room. It’s been a while since I’ve been in here.”
“A week, Brittany?” I raised an eyebrow at her. “I told you already, no other female but you comes here. I wouldn’t do that to KeKe.”
Her face changed upon hearing me say I wouldn’t do that to KeKe. I knew it was because she was expecting me to say because of her but it wouldn’t. I fucked other females, and Brittany knew this. I just didn’t bring it home because of KeKe and no other reason.
Brittany watched me like she wanted to say something, but instead, she just mumbled under her breath and turned her back to me.
“So, you don’t bring no other women here but me, right, Wrath?” she asked with her back still to me.
“Right.”
She stood staring out of
the window for a few more seconds before turning to look at me.
“So, why is there a bitch in your backyard with a little boy?”
My head tilted to the side, and I frowned.
“Excuse me?”
Instead of repeating what she said, Brittany pointed to the window as a way to tell me to look for myself.
I took fast, long strides to get to the window, and then I looked out of it.
“What-the-fuck?” I said as I saw that Brittany was right.
In my backyard was a woman and a child. They were playing with their back to me, so I couldn’t see who they were.
Brittany nudged me on the shoulder, and I looked over at her.
“I don’t know who the fuck that is!” I snapped, and she scoffed.
“The bitch is in your yard, but you don’t know who she is?”
“No, I don’t, but I’m about to find out.”
Not giving her a chance to ask me anything else, I stormed out of my room and headed for the backyard.
I yanked the door open and rushed out.
“Yo!” I yelled, getting the woman’s attention.
She jumped at the sound of my voice and turned to face me while grabbing the little boy.
Well, I’ll be damned! The bitch from the alley.
Her eyes widened upon seeing my face, and I could literally see her shaking with fear.
“The hell you doing in my house?!” I lowly snarled, and her mouth opened, but no words came out.
“I thought you didn’t know her?” Brittany pulled on my arm, but I ignored her.
Her question wasn’t important. I wanted to know why the hell this unfit bitch who left her fucking kid in a car alone was now standing in my fucking backyard.
“Well?” I barked when she didn’t answer me.
“Alvaro,” Ma called out to me and then rushed past me to stand in front of the mystery bitch.
“Ma, you know this b—chick.” And I called her that only because her son was standing right there.
Her eyebrow raised to indicate that she caught on to my hesitation and correction.
“Yes, I know her, Alvaro.” Ma gave me a warning look and turned to look at the bitch.
“Kanada, I apologize. Why don’t you go inside and let me talk to my grandson?”
Unfit bitch nodded at my grandmother, picked up her son, and dashed toward my guesthouse.
“Ma, for real! You got her staying in my guesthouse?”
“Boy, shut all that noise up and get in the house! Out here showing your ass in front of my guest.”
Guest?
Ma brushed past me to go into the house, and I was right on her tail with Brittany right behind me.
“Ma, for real, how you going to have someone staying in my house without telling me?” I asked as soon as we stepped into the house.
She spun on her little feet and turned her nose up at me.
“Little boy, would your ugly ass be standing there smelling yourself if I didn’t give birth to your bald headed daddy?” she sassed with her hands on her wide hips.
“Hell nah, you wouldn’t. And since you wouldn’t be standing there without me having your daddy, what’s yours is mine! This my house too, and if I want to have a friend stay over, I will! Now, you should be lucky that I don’t slap the piss out of you for talking to me like you lost your mind!”
“Friend? Do you even know who that bitch is?!”
My grandmother didn’t know this bitch from anywhere—talking about that was her friend!
“Clearly, it seems like you know who she is,” Brittany tried to mumble, but I heard her and slowly turned back to look at her.
“Watch yourself, Brittany.”
I gave her a warning glare, and she sucked her teeth.
When I turned to look back at Ma, she was now standing right in front of me.
“Let me tell you something. They may call you Wrath, but if you wanna find out how you’re nothing compared to me, keep pushing me, Alvaro. I will burn this motherfucker down, and you won’t have shit to call yours.”
Tell me why I gulped at that.
“Now, you got me cussing. Forgive me, Jesus,” she muttered, and then her eyes bored into mine.
“That little girl has nobody, and I promised to help her. She lives here now, Alvaro, so deal with it. And if you even think about telling her to leave, I will make you regret it. That’s my guest, do I make myself clear?”
I knew not to play with Ma; she was a beast. Looked like an angel, but I knew better.
“Keep her out of my face, Ma.”
Knowing I couldn’t win against her, I turned and headed back to my room.
“Alvaro!” Brittany annoyingly called out my name as she trailed behind me. I ignored her again, and having enough, she pulled on my arm.
“What?” I yelled at her.
“Are you really going to let that bitch stay here?”
“Did you not hear what Ma said? She’s her guest, not mine.”
“So! Ask her to leave, Alvaro. This is your house.”
Deciding not to answer her, I sighed and dropped on my bed.
Of all the fucking people in New York, my grandmother just had to cross paths with the bitch who left her kid alone. I’m sorry, but I was unable to look past that because, as a father, I would never fucking do something like that.
From that night, every time I closed my eyes, I saw that little boy’s face. I saw the distress on his face when he didn’t see his mother around. Only God knew how long he was out there before I even arrived and found him.
I ran a hand down my face and sighed.
“Alvaro—”
“Drop it, Brittany.” My voice let her know that I wasn’t playing, and thankfully, she picked up on it and shut her mouth.
For the rest of the day, I decided to take Brittany and KeKe out of the house instead. Knowing Kanada was there was doing something to me, and before I flipped the fuck out and had Ma burning my shit down, I thought it was best if I separated myself from the house instead.
Going forward, I had no idea how that shit was going to work, but for now, I was going to avoid my own damn house.
“Are you really taking me home, Wrath?”
Brittany’s question pulled me out of my thoughts, and I looked over at her.
“Yeah, I am.”
She was acting like I didn’t tell her from this morning that I was taking her ass home. She thought I was playing, but I clearly wasn’t.
“Hmmm, I can just imagine where you’re going once you go home,” she said.
Pulling up to a red light, I reached across the console and gripped Brittany by her wrist.
“Brittany, I would suggest you stop fucking pushing me, ma, for real. I’m tired of your fucking mouth. If you ain’t got anything sensible to say, keep your fucking mouth closed unless my dick is in it.”
Her eyes widened at my words, and I glared at her for a few seconds to let her know that I wasn’t fucking around.
The whole fucking day she did nothing but bitch about everything, and I had no more patience left for her ass.
She must have seen the light because her ass was on mute the rest of the ride to her house.
KeKe had fallen asleep in her car seat long before I drove them home, so I carried her into the house and put her in the bed.
Brittany made an attempt to fuck, but after the way she behaved today, she had put me off, so instead, I gave her some money and left.
My mood went from mad to pissed the fuck off when I pulled up outside of my crib and knew that bitch was there. I mumbled all types of shit under my breath as I made my way into the house. My first stop was the kitchen for some water.
Getting a bottle from the fridge, I took the cap off, leaned against the kitchen island, and took a big mouthful.
As I swallowed the water, my eyes landed on the door to the backyard, and my mind ran on Kanada. I was pissed because I didn’t want her ass on my fucking premises, and knowing I couldn’t do shit about
it pissed me off even more.
The love and respect I had for Ma wouldn’t allow me to override what she had set in place, but damn if I didn’t want to.
Taking another gulp of water, I shook my head and left the kitchen to take my ass to bed.
I turned the light off and headed for the stairs, but when my foot hit the first step, a thought popped into my head, causing me to turn back around.
What if she’s left that little boy alone again?
The thought had me rushing out of my backyard toward the guesthouse to check for myself.
“I swear if she’s left him again, I’m putting her ass out and taking him. Fuck that.”
I used my spare key to open the door and headed for the bedrooms. I checked the first one to find it empty, so I checked the second and my mouth dropped at what I saw.
Fuck!
Kanada Alton
“Mommy, I’m tired!” TJ whined as I briskly walked into the bus station with him on my hip.
I had no idea what I was doing, but all I knew was that I needed to get away from that house.
When Phyliss found me and said I could stay with her, I thought my luck had finally changed and that we would be okay, only for it to be the house of the same man who found TJ in the car that night.
From his eyes and the way he caught himself from calling me a bitch, I knew that he hated me.
I used to look up at that beautiful, big house and wonder who lived there and who Phyliss’ grandson was, but I never expected him at all.
She told me not to worry about him and how he wasn’t going to do anything, but all I could do was worry. All I kept thinking from the moment I laid eyes on him was that he was going to call the police on me and let them take TJ away from me. It was what he wanted to do that night he found him—he said it, and I knew he was going to if I hadn’t ran away—so what was stopping him from doing that now?
Luckily, Phyliss had given me a little money to buy myself some products that I never got the chance to buy, so I caught a taxi to the bus station.
