Some notes on the series
I hope you enjoyed this book. I wrote this book to give readers a sense of where Bernadette Callahan came from and the struggles she went through to get to where she is now in the rest of the series.
I used the backdrop of the city of Edmonton, in northern Canada where I grew up. I included an actual school I attended for one year, where ‘ass kicking,’ really was on the menu. To survive, I had to talk fast and make friends with some really tough kids. As you saw in the book, Bernadette did it differently, then, she always does.

About the Author
Lyle Nicholson is the author of seven novels, two novellas and a short story, as well a contributor of freelance articles to several newspapers and magazines in Canada.
In his former life, he was a bad actor in a Johnny Cash movie, Gospel Road, a disobedient monk in a monastery and a failure in working for others.
He would start his own successful sales agency and retire to write full time in 2011. The many characters and stories that have resided inside his head for years are glad he did.
