He’s probably thinking I wrote about our little role-playing slash romance-fantasy sessions. His favorite is acting out all of the stuff he wanted to do to me during our sessions. Such a dirty doctor. I love it. Also, there’s the cowboy and damsel in distress one. Yes, he still likes playing the hero, and I don’t mind in the bedroom, because in real life, I know who’s in charge.
Anyway, our sex life is private, and I would never tell anyone. But it’s fun to mess with him.
Unable to take it anymore, I start to laugh.
Bex finally catches on. “You’re a bad, bad girl, Rose.” Grinning fiendishly, he comes around and yanks me up from the chair. “And bad girls need to be spanked.”
I laugh even harder. “Oh no. A spanking. Dr. Hughes, your therapy methods are so dirty,” I mock whine. “But I guess I’ll just have to be obedient to your process…”
He scoops me up and brings me over to the couch, setting me on his lap to face him.
I peck his lips, his sexy, full lips, knowing I am going to have to pay for my little prank. And if I’m not mistaken by the hard shaft pressing against his pants, it’s going to be a punishment I’ve been thinking about all morning.
“You know I would never write about your junk, Dr. Hughes.”
He looks at me, still grinning. “The only thing I know is that when it comes to you, Ms. Hale, I should expect the unexpected.”
“But you’re happy, right? You don’t regret leaving your practice?”
We moved here to New York City last fall. It’s a small one-bedroom near the park so Sophie has a place to run. And poop. We could have afforded a bigger place, but I’ve yet to bring myself to spend money on lavish things.
Bex sold his house and brought in someone to take over his practice. Yes, he finally got rid of his old lumpy couch, too, though his name is still on the door, and he can go back whenever he likes. I think Bex is much more sentimental than he admits, and letting go of the people he loves, despite their flaws, is a slow process. He’s the kind of man who hangs in there no matter what. Thank goodness for that because we wouldn’t be here together if he wasn’t. In any case, his new partner seems to be doing well on her own, so he’s decided to start teaching classes at NYU. He’s only doing it part-time to see if he likes it, but so far, so good. He’s realizing he can help more people by sharing what he knows with a group of students who are hungry to make a difference.
“I am very, very happy,” he says. “Of course, I’m not getting any younger, so as soon as you finish up your degree, I want that baby factory open for business.”
“What?” I laugh. It’s the first time he’s brought up children. I know that’s strange, but we’ve been focused on us, the present, moving to a new city. Kids just haven’t come up. “You’re serious?”
“Hell yeah. I’d make a great dad. I’m cool, easy to talk to, and smart. I also have a hot wife to give me pretty babies. She’s a little bit on the wild side, but I figure that will make for spunky children.”
“Oh, but is she smart?” I ask. “Because that’s important, you know.”
“She married me. She’s a genius.”
“Funny. Well, your wife will give it some serious thought. Because she’ll want to find a nice place to live, and maybe get a full-time job or write books or…well, she’s not so sure yet.” But honestly, I can’t think of anything sweeter and more right than having a little Bex. When the time is right. And I have a house with a garage and room for that giant SUV. I haven’t let go of that fantasy yet. “In the meantime, your wife would like you to take her to bed and spank her with that big cock of yours.”
He frowns with a grin. “You’re so dirty. Is that going in your book?”
I shrug. “Maybe in the next one. I’m thinking of doing some fiction.”
“You’re serious?” he asks.
“Yeah. I think I am.”
“Cowboys?”
He really loves that cowboy theme, doesn’t he? “No, actually, I was thinking about taking a crack at The Boyfriend Collector. I want to rewrite it the way my mother would have.” I think she would want her final book to have a happy ending filled with love. It’s what she wanted for everyone. Including me. I think that’s why she put the clause about marriage in her will. She wanted me to know that there wasn’t anything more important to her. A life without love just wasn’t worth living in her eyes.
“I’m all for it,” Bex says, “just as long as the heroine ends up with the right guy.”
“She already has.”

Author’s Note
I want to thank the readers who took a chance on this story. I know some of you prefer my comedies or paranormal series, but my brain needs to take a vacation every once in a while so it can come back fresh and ready for more weirdness and off-the-wall humor.
Stories like The Boyfriend Collector give me a chance to reflect and push myself out of my comfort zone. Of course, I do it with you guys in mind, but it’s still like putting together a puzzle made of emotions. (Romance sudoku!)
Either way, I hope you got something interesting (or a little steamy) out of it. I did not do bookmarks for the second part—crazy! Right?—but this summer has been insane. (My newsletter folks know all about it.)
But if you want a Boyfriend Collector #1 bookmark and mag, I have a few extras! Just email your request to [email protected] along with your shipping address.
If you posted a review, and I hope you will, be sure to include a link or screenshot. (A) I will say thank you for the support and (B) I mightttt…include something extra in your swag envelope. Yeah, yeah. It’s first come, first get while supplies last, but chances are always good.
HAPPY READING!
Mimi

MY PEN IS HUGE
Oh hell yes! OHellNo, Book #5
“This is a man’s game, love. So step aside.”
My name is Leland Merrick and I’m a dedicated journalist—born, raised, and schooled in England. But don’t let the nice suits and accent fool you. There isn’t a muddy jungle I won’t crawl through, a freezing iceberg I won’t float on, or a scorching desert I won’t cross to get a sensational story. But bloody hell! What was I thinking?
My friend convinced me to take on an intern as a means of getting a free assistant. But this American exchange student I hired, Gisselle, was smart (and not so bad looking) and caught on to my scheme. Little did I know she was watching and learning all my tricks with the intention of becoming a real journalist. Now, everywhere I turn, the little minx is there in her sexy outfits, trying to distract me and steal my stories.
This time, I’ve got to throw her off my scent because I’ve come across the big one! The once-in-a-lifetime story people will be talking about for decades.
Besides, who does she think she is? The weight of my pen carries credibility, years of journalistic experience, and a knack for telling a good story. My pen is huge. She should take her little play-pen home and give up before I crush her.
