  Chapter 1

“Will you two get a room already?”

Abby and Luc lifted their heads bashfully as they pulled away from each other. Abby’s face burned bright as he eyes darted to find Luc’s cheeks just as red.

“So, I can see why you are never at the dorm,” Jess said, shaking her head and turning around to marvel at the large living room and open windows of Luc’s apartment. “This place is amazing.”

“Step outside,” Abby suggested rising from the couch. She moved quickly to the sliding glass door as Jess walked past Luc with her eyes narrowed in suspicion. Luc chuckled and rose to join Abby by the door.

“It really is a wonderful view,” Luc said hoping for just a short moment alone with Abby.

“No, thanks. Heights kinda make me dizzy,” Jess said inching her way towards the open door only to feel the cool afternoon breeze before quickly stepping away. Abby smiled and glanced to Luc who winked at her.

“Well, that does pose a problem. I was going to offer lunch on the balcony, but seeing as you don’t like the height maybe we can have a little carpet picnic instead,” Luc sighed as Abby closed off the large glass door and walked over to Jess. Jess clung to the side of the couch, refusing to move as Abby drew closer.

“You okay?” Abby asked, staring at Jess’s white knuckles.

“Aren’t you afraid a gust of wind will come and swept you off your feet, sending you hurtling to your death?”

Both Abby and Luc started laughing as the young girl narrowed her eyes at them. Abby shook her and patted her friend on the shoulder.

“It doesn’t quite work like that.”

“I’ve seen movies where a girl gets pulled out of her apartment from the wind.”

“How many times have I told you to stop watching those stupid horror flicks? Do you really think the architect would have created something so tall without thinking about safety features? I mean really Jess, paranoid much?” Abby’s voice was condescending, but deep down she understood completely why Jess was so scared of heights.

After all, it wasn’t that long ago the poor girl was ripped from her dorm room by Ty and whisked away high into the sky as Ty’s prisoner. If it hadn’t been for Luc enchanting her, Abby doubted Jess would have even stepped foot in his place let alone agreed to meet Abby for lunch.

“Abby,” Jess glared at her. “The struggle is real okay?”

“Come on girls, we are here to have a good afternoon with great food. Why don’t we go out to lunch then? Maybe the restaurant down the street? That little Italian place I heard so much about?” Luc suggested trying to ease the tension for Jess.

“It’s on the ground floor and has great drinks?” Luc cooed as he batted his eyes at Jess, hoping that the girl would lighten up a bit for Abby’s sake. Luc knew how important it was for Abby to keep her contacts with the human world and the luncheon was his idea. But by the spark of fear in Jess’s eyes, he knew the charade wouldn’t last long.

At some point if Jess remained in Abby’s life, the poor girl’s memories of her abduction would come back. But Luc didn’t have the heart to confess to Abby his thoughts. He wanted nothing more than to make Abby happy. And right now, having Jess with her was doing the trick.

“Italian sounds great,” Abby said, turning away from Jess and moving to the closet to fetch her coat. “How about it Jess? Want to come?”

Jess peeled her fingers from the couch and turned her back on the floor to ceiling windows. “Sure, that sounds great. But I hope you’re buying cause I’m broke.”

“Actually, I am buying,” Luc said moving towards Jess and guiding her to the front door.

“Well in that case.” A smile returned to Jess’s face and lit up Abby’s heart.

“Come on then,” Abby said, pulling open the front door. Suddenly Jess’s body went stiff. Every muscle in her froze as her heart raced. A sharp gasp of air drifted through Luc’s lips as the three of them stared at Ty in the opening of the door.

“You,” Jess hissed. Luc dropped his head realizing the enchantment he placed on Jess lifted the moment Jess saw Ty. “You…” Jess mumbled trying to step back from the door as quickly as she could. Luc’s arms were around her keeping her still as Jess plowed into him.

“It’s okay,” Abby said turning to her friend. “Shh. It’s okay.”

“That man, he…” Jess stuttered trying to force the horrifying images out of her mind.

“I know what he did,” Abby said in a soothing tone as she raised her hands up to Jess. Abby sidestepped trying to block Ty from Jess’s view, but it was no use. If it wasn’t for Luc holding her in place, Jess would have faced her biggest fear and bolted to the balcony just to get clear of him.

“I see I came at the wrong time,” Ty said watching Abby and Luc try to corral the young girl.

“You need to leave,” Luc demanded as Jess tossed and thrashed in his arms.

“You tried to enchant her didn’t you?” Ty said stepping into the room. Abby glanced over her shoulder as Ty placed his hands around Abby’s waist and kissed her gently on the cheek.

  “So?” Luc huffed.

“And it didn’t hold,” Ty sneered.

“It would have if you hadn’t shown up here. Now are you going to help me or not?” Luc asked corralling Jess to the couch and forcing her down onto the soft cushions. Tears ran down Jess’s face causing her makeup to smear around her eyes.

“Ty, please, fix this,” Abby begged heartbroken that her best friend was scared out of her wits.

“Abby, you know if I do this, it means she can’t come back here. You two can’t be friends.”

“But,” Abby’s eyes flashed between Ty and Luc before falling on Jess.

“Listen to me,” Ty cupped his hand around Abby’s face and held her attention. “The only way for enchantments to hold is by erasing all past relations with the person. Luc knows this, but did it anyway for you. But you can’t have her as a friend, she has been through too much.”

“What will happen to her?” Abby asked knowing she was defeated. The only thing she could do now was let her friend go and live a normal life.

“Nothing bad,” Ty said gazing into Abby’s eyes. “I promise.”

“Then do it. Make her forget.”

“No!” Jess screamed as she lunged from the couch trying to plow down Luc and make a break for the door. Ty cut her off at the pass causing Jess to stumble back as Abby moved around the couch to Luc.

“Jess,” Ty’s voice was like velvet. Even Abby was drawn to him as he spoke. With tear-filled eyes Jess stared up at him. “You my dear have to forget everything you think you know about me. I am a ghost, a figment of your imagination. You conjured me in one of your stories and nothing more. I am the villain to your stories. I am the nightmare that haunts you. But I am not real.”

Abby watched intensely as Jess nodded her head with every sentence that spilled from Ty’s lips. Even she was being to believe his words.

“Abby,” Luc’s voice broke through Ty’s seduction, snapping her out of the trance.

“Sorry.” Abby glanced at Luc and wrapped her arms around his neck.

“You need to sleep Jess,” Ty whispered. “And when you wake up, all of this will be nothing more than a dream. Your old roommate Abby left to go back home and left all her stuff behind for you to clean up. You will be pissed about this, but clearing out her things will give you the closure you need.” Ty stepped closer to Jess and pressed the palm of his hand onto her forehead.

Abby gasped as Jess dropped to her knees completely unconscious. “Is she okay?”

“She’s fine. But you can’t have her over here anymore,” Ty said glancing up to Abby as he dropped down to pick up the girl from the floor.

“Maybe I should take her,” Luc said and kissed Abby on the forehead. “That way we know she’ll make it back to her dorm room. And it will give you and Ty some time alone.”

“That is probably best,” Ty said handing the girl off to his brother. “Would
n’t want her to wake up and see my face. But you could say she passed out in the library or something and you were just taking her back to her room.”

“Thank you,” Abby said exhaling as Luc hoisted the girl up to his chest. “And you as well Ty.”

Ty stared at her for a long moment before flashing his crooked little smile that melted her heart. “I would do anything for you, you know that.”

“You do the things that need to be done,” Abby said as the door closed behind Luc.

“If my brother wasn’t such a softy, he would have told you not to bring Jess back into your life. It’s dangerous for her, being human and all.”

“But I need friends, Luc understands that.”

  “You think I don’t?”

“Well, you did just send my only friend away, erased her memories so even if she saw me on the street she wouldn’t look twice.”

“That’s not true, for her it might feel like déjà vu. She’ll steal a second glance.”

“But she won’t come and say hi,” Abby finished as she moved to the couch and plopped down into the cushions.

Ty pressed his lips into a line and took his place beside Abby on the couch. Abby dropped her head holding back the tears as Ty glanced around the apartment.

“So is this what does it for you?” he asked raising his arm up and slipping it behind Abby. She glanced to him with an unspoken question lingering on her lips.

“This place,” Ty answered. “It is very posh.”

“Actually, if I was to be completely honest, I would say I like your place better. The castle feels more like home and less breakable.”

Ty threw his head back laughing. “Your soul is very old, but I still forget how young you are as a dragon. I am surprised you haven’t burned the place down.” Ty’s eyes flashed to the open kitchen where a black streak on the ceiling caught his attention. Laughter bellowed out of him rocking Abby’s body.

“Okay, so maybe you have tried too.”

“That wasn’t me,” Abby said realizing what Ty was talking about. “Luc tried to make some dessert that caught on fire and it got out of control.”

“You sure you didn’t get out of control?” Ty asked pinching Abby on the cheek. She jolted her head back away from him and hoisted herself up only to have Ty bring her back down to the cushion beside him.

“I’ve missed you,” he said. “That spark in you always thrills me.”

“Well, maybe if you hadn’t been gone so long, you wouldn’t have missed me.”

“There were things I had to do.”

“Like?” Abby asked leaning her head onto his shoulder as her fingers grazed over his thigh. Abby twisted her head to gaze up at Ty’s face. She breathed in deeply hoping to convey her desires without saying a word. Ty’s crooked smile flashed across his lips as he leaned down and crushed his lips to hers.

“You have neglected things here,” Abby whispered as her lips brushed over his as she spoke.

“Oh really? Didn’t my brother keep you entertained in my absence?”

“He tried to, but a girl has needs and wants,” Abby said pulling away from him. Ty’s eyes remained on Abby as she rose from the couch. With one knee she bumped his legs closer together and climbed onto his lap. Ty’s eyes drifted from Abby’s face to her cleavage.

“Now,” she cooed seductively. “Tell me everything you did and leave nothing out,” she said nibbling on his neck. Ty groaned trying to resist her. Abby’s tongue drifted up to his ear as her teeth raked over his lobe, “Tell me, why did you leave?”

  Chapter 2

“I…” Ty tried to speak, but Abby’s hot breath against his skin sent chills coursing through him. Every ounce of his body bent to her will as her fingers ran through his hair. She pressed her chest into his face and threw her head back as Ty caressed the valley of her bosom.

Ty wrapped his arms around her body holding her in place and grabbed the fabric at the base of her hips. A small moaned escaped Abby’s lips as she waited for Ty to rip the clothes off her. But with his face buried in her chest, she paused and pulled the hair at the base of his head forcing his head back. With lust filled eyes Abby could see the pain lingering behind his smoldering gaze.

  “What’s wrong?”

  “I want you.”

  “So take me.”

“You don’t understand. I want you all to myself. I don’t want to have to share you.”

“Is that why you left? Because of my proposal?”

“Yes,” Ty mumbled holding her gaze for an instant before glancing down. “And no. I left because I had things to figure out.”

“You really don’t like your brother do you?” Abby asked climbing off Ty’s lap as the mood drifted away like fog on a sunny morning. She pressed her lips together and shook her head slightly before turning her back to him.

“Don’t you understand? I owe Luc. If it wasn’t for his heart, I would have never been able to come back. I would be gone.”

“Abby you have to understand, I have been at odds with my brother for so long that I don’t know how to be any other way towards him.”

“That’s because you’re not trying. You won’t let go of the past.” Abby crossed her arms over her chest and stared out the large windows, focusing on the tall glass buildings obscuring the horizon. The couch moaned as Ty rose and moved quickly to Abby. His arms curled around her tiny frame and he squeezed her to him.

“It’s not so easy. You weren’t supposed to have Luc’s heart,” Ty said. “You were supposed to have mine.”

“It doesn’t matter, who’s heart I had. I came back again and again. Don’t you remember? We lived like that once before. Why can’t we do it in this life?” Abby turned to face him. Her eyes filled with anguish as the memory floated in her mind.

“It was another time, you were a different person then.”

“But it worked didn’t it?” She asked, her voice strained. Ty dropped his gaze and stared at her delicate skin as the words from the Mistress played back in his mind. He nodded with his mouth shut tight refusing to glance at her. He knew what Abby was asking, but he had already been down that road before with her, and he knew where it ended.

The image of the ruby pendant flashed and sparkled in his mind, if only he hadn’t of tossed it over the cliff. Ty sighed as Abby leaned in and nibbled on his neck once more.

“Please,” she begged in such a painful tone that it spliced Ty’s heart. “Can we try again?”

“Yes,” Ty hissed overcome with the desire. He picked her up in his arms. Her legs wrapped around his body like vines on a tree as their lips crushed against one another’s.

Ty parted her lips with his tongue and slipped into her mouth. Abby clung to him for dear life as his fingers clung her ass cheeks holding her off the ground. As rays of light drifted through the large open windows, Ty slammed her against the wall to pin her in place.

Abby pulled back gasping for air as Ty’s hands drifted up her hips drawing up the fabric of her skirt. A wicked smile lingered on his lips as they kissed and for a brief moment he opened his eyes to find Abby submerged in the pleasure of his body crushing hers. With his free hand, Ty shimmied his hand down over her bare thigh and slipped his fingers under the elastic of her panties.

“What are you doing?” Abby panted as Ty fumbled with the cotton material. “Those don’t come off that way.”

“I wasn’t planning on taking them off,” Ty whispered in her ear as his teeth grazed her earlobe as he spoke. Abby’s fingers curled into Ty’s hair and tugged at the roots until Ty’s head arched away from her body. Without missing a beat, Ty’s finger hunting for Abby sweet spot. Her eyes sparkled with the challenge of keeping him preoccupied, but the moment he found what he was looking for Abby released her grip.

“Ah,” air sucked through her teeth as Ty’s finger pushed deeper into her body. Ty pressed his lips to her neck as his finger hooked her like a fish keeping her pegged to the wall as he had his way with her. Abby gasped and threw her head
back hitting the wall.

“You okay?” Ty grumbled as he wiggled his finger around the walls of her vagina stretching her as her body yearned for something more substantial to fulfill her desires.

Abby clawed at his neck and shoulder for support as she jiggled her hips as much as she could. Her back scraped against the wall as she tried to take more of him. Ty moved about her inside feeling every inch of her as he could. Her juices flowed down his fingers and over his knuckle. She closed her eyes letting Ty have his way with her.

“Yes,” Abby cooed as Ty slipped his finger out of her leaving her body aching. Her pussy throbbed from his absence and she knew if he didn’t take her now, she would have to take matters into her own hands.

A crook smile played at the corner of his lips as Ty set Abby gently down on her feet.

“Is that all I get?” Abby groaned.

  “Did you want more?”

“You know I want more,” Abby hissed as she slipped under Ty’s arm with her lips curled up at the corners. Ty turned to watch Abby dance about the living room. His eyes widened as she shimmied her skirt down past her thighs and watched it drop to her ankles. With a wild kick, Abby sent the skirt flying at Ty.

“Don’t you want me too?” Abby asked turning her back to Ty as she tugged at the fabric of her shirt and pulled it off her quickly before turning and tossing it like a bride’s girdle at her wedding. Ty caught her shirt with one hand as his eyes remained locked on her.

Abby’s eyes roamed over Ty’s body until resting on the growing bulge in his pants. Her smile grew as she spun around to reveal her slim back. Ty moved quickly to close the gap between them. Chills ran down her body as Ty’s warm hands roamed down her spine and rest on her hips.

“Stay just like that,” he ordered as he pushed on her shoulders forcing her head down towards the couch. Abby did as she was told and kept her torso down. She sucked in a deep breath as the sound of metal chewing on metal filled her ears.
