The Morgannate: The Dregian Chronicles Book 3 Page 11

by D E Boske

“Make love to me, Reny. Take what you need from me. I offer it up willingly. I want you with me, always.”

“And what about Kyler?” she giggled at his confused expression.

“You want a threesome with Kyler?” he asked, amused as he waggled his eyebrows.

“No,” she said forcefully. “I don’t want to keep it a secret anymore, Darian. I want everyone

  to know about us.”

“Of course.” He saw the overwhelming joy in her eyes and smiled his smile. “I wouldn’t have it any other way, babe.”

She rose off him and for a moment, he thought she was climbing out of the tub. She brought her hips down gently, taking him all in and he groaned in pleasure. She made love to him slowly, at her own pace, in her own way and he knew how lucky he was to have her. He would show her everyday how much he cared for her.

Her movements became a bit chaotic as she neared her explosive finish. The gentle rise and fall of her hips became quick and hard, as she repeatedly took everything he had to offer. Water cascaded over the lip of the tub and onto the floor as her speed increased.

“Reny,” he whispered. “Takasha! I can’t… take much more,” he ground out through clenched teeth. Soon after, they found release together.

He turned her around and began to bathe her. She was so shocked, but said nothing because she didn’t want him to stop. She reveled in his touch and she hungered for it. He was very gentle with her and she’d never seen this side of him. She never pictured him to be this kind of man. This was a romantic, selfless act and it deeply touched her. Once he washed her body, he began to wash her hair. She reciprocated and he smiled as she worked.

“You know, no one has ever done that for me before,” he said. He wrapped her in a big, soft towel and dried her off.

“I want you to bring your things, Reny. Stay with me, please,” it was more of a plea than a request and it touched her deeply.

“Really, Darian? Are we really going to do this?”

“Of course, Reny. It’s what I always wanted,” he said, as he stroked her face.

“Oh, Darian,” she hugged him tightly, as he ran his fingers through her hair.

He went to the door to speak with Nymdal. “Nym, have three guards accompany Reny to her room and help her bring her things here.”

“Of course, right away,” Nymdal said, signaling at once. Less than two minutes later, three Gor Li’ Khan stood outside Darian’s chamber.

“Nym, I need to speak to you and Kelindril. Now,” Darian commanded. Once they were inside, Darian bolted the door in place.

“Reny is now my consort, though not officially. She wants me to court her and I will.” The Mage smiled as he spoke and the Gor Li’ Khan could see that the Mage was happy.

“She wants a romantic proposal and she shall have that and so much more. I expect you to protect her as you do me. It is a dangerous road we are about to embark on and I will not risk her safety.”

“Worry not, my friend,” said Kelindril, laying his right hand on Darian’s left shoulder. “I

am happy for you both,” the elf said, and he meant it. “We will guard you both with our very lives.”

“Nym, can you give Kelindril and me a moment please?” asked Darian, waiting until Nymdal closed the door behind him.

“Kelindril, I wanted to talk to you about the guard situation,” began the Mage. He was not

about to let on that Nym had told him anything. He did not want to get him in trouble. Darian honestly liked Nym.

“Of course. What do you need to know?” he asked.

“I see the same guards every day, Kel. I want them rotated and given time off so they can

pursue relationships should they choose to. Guarding me day and night gives them no time.”

“Of course, Darian. I introduce the guards slowly to give them time to get to know you before I change them out. Once I have done so with all of them, the rotation will begin. Is there a problem with the way I am doing this?” he asked, sounding concerned.

“Not at all, Kel. I just want to be sure they are all happy here. I want them to live lives they would not have been able to under Thelarki.”

Kelindril smiled at that. “Believe me, Darian, they already are. Thank you for your concern and generosity. Because of you, we all have a chance at a new life, a life that gives us a chance to redeem ourselves.”

“Your own actions redeem you more than anything I have done.”

Nymdal knocked and opened the door without waiting for a response. The guards were back with Reny and her things. Kelindril saw the smile spread across the Mage’s face and marveled at that. He honestly never thought Darian would choose a consort. He thought Darian would be happier without one, but looking at him now, he knew how wrong he’d been. Kelindril didn’t know if Darian loved Renlyss, but the Gor Li’ Khan leader could tell he cared for her deeply.

She made a face when she saw him standing there, a look that the Mage did not miss. “What’s going on with you two?” he asked, looking to them both for an explanation.

“I don’t like him, Darian. Does he have to be here?”

“Yes, he does. I’ve put him in charge of my protection, Reny.”

“Are you sure he’s qualified?” she asked in a biting tone.

“I’m sure he is more than qualified, Reny. Why don’t you like him?”

“There’s just something about him. Something I can’t pin down, but… he makes me uncomfortable,” she admitted. Kelindril smirked and shook his head.

“May we start over, Renlyss?” he asked, holding out his hand. “I am Kelindril from Kaleika

Bay and it is a pleasure to meet you.”

No one was more shocked by that display than the Gor Li’ Khan that were gathered ‘round. It was in the way they stood and it reflected in their eyes. Darian smiled inwardly. He was changing gradually, subtly, little by little, day by day.

Renlyss took his hand in hers and smiled at him. “The pleasure is all mine, Kelindril,” she said, looking him over brazenly.

“Enough,” said Darian. “If you flirt with him anymore Reny, I will bend you over the couch

and have my way with you right now,” he said, with a wicked gleam in his eyes.

“You wouldn’t dare!” she said, pretending to be shocked.

“Oh, yes he would,” said Kelindril and Nymdal simultaneously.

She clasped the Mage’s hand in hers and squeezed lightly. He grabbed her ass and

squeezed, pulling her to him easily. She laughed and went willingly. He tipped her head back and kissed her in front of them all. He didn’t care who was watching. She snaked her arms around his neck, as his tongue passed her lips. His arousal was sharp and hard against her hip and she smiled.

A knock at the Mage’s door broke up the display. “Darian, it’s Kyler,” informed Floran.

“Let him in, Floran,” said Darian, surprising the elf because he didn’t realize Darian knew who he was. He shook his head in amusement. Darian was so different from Thelarki. And different was good.

“I’ll go put my things away,” Renlyss said, but Darian would not release her.

“No babe, stay,” he said, kissing her softly just as Kyler walked in.

“I knew it!” yelled the elf prince with a smile. “There is no way that Darian can be just friends with any female.”

“Kyler, I’m glad you’re here. Renlyss and I are together now. I am courting her exclusively.”

“No shit!” Kyler exclaimed. He hugged Darian and then embraced Renlyss.

“Take care of her, Mage. She is a perfect match for you and will not put up with your bullshit,” said the elf prince seriously. “How’d you get her to agree anyway, Darian? I’ve asked her out many times and she always told me no.” Darian wisely kept his face blank. For he knew exactly why Renlyss refused to go out with Kyler. She’d told him soon after he came to Kiri A’ Nouell and they became lovers.

  It was deep night, everyt
hing quiet and still. Even the nighttime insects were quiet. The air was oppressive and heavy with dark intent. Darian awoke with a start, sitting up in bed and jarring Renlyss awake. His eyes were wild and a sheen of sweat covered his sexy form. “Darian, are you okay?” she asked, but he did not respond. His breathing was ragged, his chest heaving as he dragged air into his lungs.

“Darian, it’s okay. I’m here,” she tried again. She laid her left hand on his chest and felt his heart racing. What had he seen in his dreams? Did she want to know?

He did not acknowledge her and it concerned her. He didn’t even seem to be aware of her presence. She kept talking to him, but he did not look at her. She was really beginning to get concerned because she didn’t know what was wrong with him or how often this happened. She doubted Kelindril would know either. Darian despised weakness and this would be nothing but, in his point of view.

She climbed into his lap and put her hands on either side of his face. His lips were soft and warm despite the weirdness and she kissed him softly, running her hands over his hard body. When he didn’t respond to this either, she knew something was wrong. Her heart rate picked up and she could feel it pounding through her ribs.

Her tongue traced his lips and finally he responded. She felt his arms snake around her waist, as his tongue invaded her mouth, eliciting a mewling sound from deep within her. Before she could even comprehend what happened, she was beneath him as he reared over her, his knee between her thighs. He did not wait for acceptance. He merely took what he needed with a single-minded abandon. His right hand ran over the silky skin of her left thigh, cupping her ass and gently lifting her just so. With a not so gentle thrust, he buried himself inside her and she cried out in a mixture of surprise and pleasure. He paused as a shudder coursed through him and slowly picked up the pace.

She bucked underneath him, raising her hips to meet his and crying out from the intense sensation it caused. He ground his hips fiercely into hers and his long hair fell over his face, obscuring his eyes. He rolled over onto his back, taking her with him in one fluid movement.

Nymdal watched as Darian made love to Renlyss. Darian knew at least one Gor Li’ Khan

was always with him. Kelindril demanded it and Darian acquiesced. It was a hard-fought battle. Darian liked his privacy and that was something Nymdal could understand.

The Gor Li’ Khan always gave him his privacy, remaining outside his bedroom all night. The only reason Nymdal checked on the Mage this night was because he thought he heard Darian cry out in his sleep. When he entered the Mage’s room, he flushed in embarrassment, but found he couldn’t look away.

Renlyss was stunning and Nymdal knew why Darian coveted her. She was strong and sexy, yet beautiful and intelligent. Her breasts were perfect, round and full and her waist was tiny and slim.

Renlyss took a moment to catch her breath as she straddled the Mage. She laid her hands on his sculpted chest and leaned down to brush her lips on his. He grabbed her, kissing her forcefully as his hands cradled the back of her head. She moaned against his lips. He was in a rare mood tonight, but she liked it. He lifted her easily and brought her down atop him, impaling her roughly and she bit his lip in response. His eyes darkened and he fell back into his pillows, resting his hands on her hips.

She began to ride him so slowly at first. Darian tried to make her increase her speed, but she managed to stop him. They never spoke a word. Words were unnecessary. All she wanted was him filling her, as he filled their needs. She began to rock faster, her breasts bouncing alluringly. She braced herself on his chest as her hips punished his.

Darian knew if he didn’t stop her, they would both explode before he wanted them to. He sat up and lifted her easily off him. She whimpered in need, her heated gaze looking him over seductively. He smirked and rolled her over, facing Nymdal. The elf knew he should leave, but he just couldn’t move.

Darian put his hand in the center of Renlyss’s back and pushed her down until he had her positioned the way he wanted her. His hands were warm on her hips and she pushed back, but he moved out of her way. A moan born of pure need and lust escaped her, yet he held himself in check. Nymdal could see it was hard for the Mage to restrain himself and wasn’t really sure why he bothered.

The Mage leaned his head back and closed his eyes for a moment. Suddenly, he opened his eyes and drove himself into Renlyss, who rewarded him with a howl of pleasure. He smirked and looked directly at Nymdal; whose blood turned cold. But Darian said nothing, nor did he stop.

Nymdal could see Renlyss’s face clearly, as it transformed with each movement of Darian’s hips. The Mage wrapped his left hand in Renlyss’s long hair, tugging softly as he moved rhythmically in and out of her. He could feel her looming orgasm; it was going to be intense.

He smiled a wicked smile and something about the display bothered Nymdal.

Darian was not being gentle like he usually was, but Renlyss was really enjoying it. He was so different tonight and Takasha! The sex was the best she’d ever had. It always was with Darian. He knew the pleasure he gave to women, but he was always so giving of himself and tonight was no different. Except… She lost her train of thought, her pleasure claiming her as its own and her whole body vibrated with raw energy. The scream she let out was deafening as she tightened around Darian sending him spiraling. He groaned as his movements slowed until he collapsed on the bed beside her.

Renlyss rolled over to kiss his chest. Darian was lying on his back, his left forearm covering his eyes. She was leaning on her left elbow as the fingers of her right hand swirled around his lower stomach.

“Mmmm,” he mumbled incoherently, sounding exhausted. He gave so much of himself whenever he made love. He knew he didn’t have to, but he wanted to. Otherwise, what was the point? The more you give, the more you get. And get. And get, he mused.. He never had a problem with “getting” nor would he.

She kissed his lips, running her finger along his chin. He slowly opened his eyes and the words he spoke froze her heart.

“Reny?” He looked and sounded surprised to see her there. Her blood chilled in her veins and she began to tremble.

“Darian, what’s wrong? Don’t you remember why I’m here?” she asked, stifling a sob. “Of course, you’re my consort in training,” he said, with that irritating smirk of his and she let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding.

“But, how did we end up at the foot of the bed?” he asked.

“Are you serious?” she asked and instantly regretted the words. “You woke from a troubling dream and we made love. Don’t you remember? We’ve only just finished,” she explained.

“No wonder why I’m so tired,” he said softly.

“Darian, what’s wrong? Talk to me, please. Maybe I can help,” she said, without daring to hope that he would.

“I… I can’t remember. I don’t remember waking. I don’t remember, Reny. What’s happening to me?” His tone broke her heart and she grasped his face in her hands and kissed his lips.

“It’s okay, Darian. You were dreaming but something startled you out of your slumber. I tried talking to you, but you didn’t respond. I tried everything I could think of with no response.

As a last resort, I climbed into your lap and ran my tongue over your lips.”

“Mmm, I like the sound of that,” he said with that smile of his. And she realized how

different he was in this moment. Minutes ago, he was like a different person and now… He was so breathtakingly gorgeous. His hair was growing and it only made him sexier. How can he make me feel so much? She wondered.

“I thought you said you were tired,” she gently reminded him. She desperately wanted him to make love to her again, but she also knew he needed his rest. Something was happening to him and she needed to get to the bottom of it.

“I’m never too tired for you, babe,” he said softly, brushing his lips on hers. This time, he took his time, as he made love to her. He was so gentle, sweet and loving. Her heart was
full and she felt a tear spill down her cheek as she lost herself in him.

“Hey, Reny, are you ok? Did I do something wrong?” he asked, stopping to look in her eyes. She giggled and kissed him softly.

“No, Darian. I just love you so much.” This answer seemed to please him, as he smiled and then she could no longer concentrate on anything but his rhythm.

Nymdal remained outside the bedroom for the remainder of the night. He expected the Mage to reprimand him for spying, but nothing ever happened. He knew Renlyss had no idea he was watching, but the Mage knew. He seemed to enjoy Nymdal watching. He did not stop, nor was he embarrassed. If anything, Nymdal would say he liked being watched. Something about Darian’s behavior tonight rankled Nymdal, but he didn’t know what it was.

In the morning, Darian rose early to bathe. He found it odd that Nym did not join him for

conversation today. He almost always kept him company. Reny rose soon after and joined him in the bath.

“I have a meeting with the Mages today and I’d like you to come along. I would like your

perspective on them and their behavior. I know what I think and how I feel about each one of them. What I need is an unbiased opinion. I need to know your impressions and feelings.”

“Of course, Darian. I would love to help,” she said. She really wanted to be a part of his world. She could sense and feel how close they were already and she didn’t dare to believe that it could be better than this.

“Will the Mages let me accompany you?” He laughed at her question, but it wasn’t a mocking laugh. He was genuinely amused. She loved the sound of his laugh. He didn’t do it often enough and she vowed to do something about that.

“They have absolutely no say as long as we are not discussing intimate Order details. I want you there by my side. They need to know that I have chosen a consort.”

“I thought you were going to court me, Darian Brade,” she said, her tone steely.

“Are you trying to say you didn’t like our date last night, Reny?” his voice was soft and seductive.

There was a knock on his chamber door and they could hear talking in low tones, but could make out no words. Nymdal came striding through the door with an apologetic look on his face.
