giggled as she felt him grow hard from her lips on his smooth skin.

“Kyler could never make love the way that you do. I don’t want to go back to him, Darian. I want to be with you,” she said, afraid to look him in the eye. She knew he wasn’t in love with her and couldn’t face the truth in his eyes.

“Nephraete,” he began. “I wish things were different. Truly, I do, but you are Kyler’s girl. I cannot take you from him. That came out wrong. I could take you from him, so easily, but I will not. Kyler’s friendship means more to me than you will ever know.”

“Can’t you take his memory, like you took Nereina’s?” she asked, hopefully.

“Nay, they are not my memories to take, little seer. I can only take memories that involve me intimately, babe.” She brushed her lips on his and he claimed hers in a sensual kiss that took her breath away.

“You never answered my original question, Darian,” she said, as she placed soft kisses all

  over his chest and neck.

“Which was what exactly? I’m afraid with you so near, I lost my train of thought,” he said with that smile of his.

“How are you able to perform repeatedly in one day?” He kissed her, slipping his tongue between her lips.

“Are you sure you really want to know this?” he asked,

“I am curious, Darian,” she said, batting her eyelashes at him.

“It wasn’t always so, little seer,” the Mage explained, but she just looked at him expectantly. He sighed as he realized he was not going to get out of this story.

“I was a novice and far younger than the others. They were all allowed female companionship once a month except for me. A woman’s touch is a forbidden treat for young Novices such as I was. Even The Order, it seems, has some sort of moral compass. Since they banned me from the touch of a woman, I decided to learn as much as I could about what pleased them. I treated it as another subject that I must master.

“As the other novices had their way with the girls, I watched and took note of the things that pleased them, the things they loved, and the things they did not care for. Over time, with all my notes, I knew with certainty what the vast majority of women desired, what only a select few pleaded for, and what most women preferred not to experience.”

“What kind of a pervert are you, Darian? Have you always been addicted to sex?”

“What? I’m not a pervert, Nephraete and I’ve only been addicted to sex since I lost my virginity,” he said it so innocently that the seer burst out laughing.

“How can you not consider yourself a pervert and yet sit there and watch people having sex?”

“What was I supposed to do? Punishment is severe if caught outside your room at night. If I was going to be in the room anyway, I may as well watch and learn,” he stated matter of factly.

“Why were you in there in the first place? You cannot tell me that you had no idea what was happening.”

“It was my room too, Nephraete,” he said patiently.

“You shared a room with another novice?” asked the seer, beginning to understand, feeling relieved and not knowing why.

“Yes, about fifty to one hundred at any given time.”

“What?” Now it was Nephraete’s turn to be astonished.

“It wasn’t unusual to have around one hundred novices in one large room. We didn’t spend much time there, so we didn’t need a lot of space. All we needed was a bed and a wardrobe.”

“It makes so much more sense now,” she said, laughing.

“You honestly think so little of me?” he asked, managing to look hurt. “You really thought that I would go around and spy on people having sex?”

“No, of course not,” she said, kissing his brow. “Then what did you do?” He ran his left hand down her back to her lovely ass, where he softly stroked her and she damn near purred like a cat.

“Well, it seems my good looks, not to mention my toned body, began attracting the girls’ attention. One evening, after pleasuring another man, this young girl came to my bedside. I asked her what she wanted and she said, ‘I want you.’

“We’ll have to be quiet, Darian or else I’ll be beaten.”

“What? They beat you?” asked the young novice. “What’s your name, sweetheart?” he asked, and it had the desired effect on her. She smiled sweetly at him and he felt his body respond to her nearness. Her hand ran up his leg to rest on his growing admiration for her and she gasped at his size.

“My name is Layla,” she said quietly. “No one’s ever asked me that before.”

“It’s a shame, you have a name that is equal to your beauty,” he responded. She blushed from his statement. He reached up to stroke her face and she leaned into his hand.

This is better than any notes! he thought. She leaned down to brush her lips on his. He wasn’t nervous at the prospect of his first kiss. He was rock hard and he only had one objective, but he didn’t want to frighten this girl, so he took his time. Besides, he was learning as he went. This was an all-new experience for him and he liked it.

He felt her tongue glide across his lips and he parted them, letting her in. His dick jerked at the sensual contact. He couldn’t help himself, he grabbed her ass and pulled her into the bed

with him and she giggled, and then looked worriedly around the room.

“Don’t worry, babe, I froze them as soon as you walked over,” he smiled shyly.

“What? You can do that as a novice?” she asked, clearly impressed.

“I don’t know if any of them can, but I can,” he smirked. As she undressed, he could see the wetness between her thighs.

“I know you haven’t been allowed to be with a woman yet, but if you will let me, I will pleasure you and show you how to pleasure women,” she said. She waited until he gave his consent and pulled the covers down. She was a bit surprised to see that he slept naked. None of the others did.

She gripped him firmly, but gently and he sighed deeply at the erotic sensation. When her lips touched his hot skin, he groaned. Her tongue swirled around his length and he drew in his breath sharply. She smiled around him as she continued her work. She worked him deeper and he sighed as he ran his fingers through her hair. He let her take the lead, as he had never done this before.

After several minutes in utter bliss, Darian hissed, “Layla, I can take no more.”

“Shhh,” she said, as she continued to pleasure the young novice. She increased her speed as she felt him draw near to his first explosive orgasm.

She lay down next to him and he moved to kiss her. His lips touched her skin and she sighed in spite of herself. His tongue circled her nipples, making them hard and he marveled at such a simple act. He found that it pleased him to please her and he threw himself into it, just as he did with any of his classes.

She gently guided him as his lips moved lower. She instructed him and he listened, giving her, her heart’s desire. She found that he was an excellent student. He didn’t get upset when she told him how to please her and before too long, she was arching her back and screaming silently. By then, he’d regained his composure and he was ready to really experience her.

She motioned to him and he followed her direction. She cried out when he penetrated her and he groaned in response. She was slick and wet and it felt so good. It was a feeling he’d never experienced before, but he already knew he wanted to experience it every day. He had no control and soon, he came again, without her. She pouted and he kissed her.

“I’m sorry, Layla,” he said, upset with himself because he could see she was really disappointed.

“It’s okay, Darian. You’ll get better. It just takes time and practice,” she said, grinning wickedly at him.

“You mean, we’re going to do this again?” he asked, his boyish grin showing his youth.

“Oh yes,” she replied, laughing. “We’re going to do this quite a bit.”

The memory was a fond one and one he had not thought about in quite some time. He’d been a Mage f
or so long now that he rarely thought of his beginning. Nephraete could see the depth of emotion his memories caused him and she saw another side of the powerful Mage. Without another word, he took her in his arms and made love to her, sweetly and gently, until she was screaming his name.

Afterwards, he drew her a bath and told her when she was finished, they would get some breakfast. Then, he stepped out into the hall and nodded at Kelindril and Nymdal.

“Morning, Darian,” said Kelindril, trying to feel out the young Mage.

“Morning, Kelindril. Nephraete is bathing right now and when she’s ready, let’s all have breakfast.”

“Can I ask you something, Darian?” asked the Gor Li’ Khan leader.

“That depends,” said Darian seriously. It didn’t deter Kelindril; he merely asked his questions anyway.

“What’s going on with Kyler’s girl? Why did she stay with you last night? Please tell me you didn’t touch her.”

“She was upset last night and we talked until just before dawn. I think I answered the second question as well. As for touching her, why would you think that?” asked Darian, looking Kelindril in the eye.

“I think you know why,” replied the elf, eyes hardening.

“Let’s pretend I don’t,” retorted Darian. “Nephraete is in love with Kyler, not me.” Even as he said those words, he remembered her whispered confession this morning.

“Like that’s ever stopped you before,” smirked Kelindril.

“I would never betray my friendship to Kyler. You wound me,” stated the Mage, placing his right hand over his heart.

Kelindril wasn’t sure what to make of the display. On one hand, the Mage looked sincere and convincing. On the other hand, he looked like a wily fox, fully capable of lying to your face and having you believe it.

“If we were involved, which we are not, why would I be out here with you? Wouldn’t I remain in my own chamber?”

“Not if you wanted us to believe the lie, you wouldn’t,” stated Kelindril matter of factly.

“Believe what you will, it matters not to me,” said Darian. “I’m starving and I am growing irritable with your questions.”

Kelindril made a mental note of the Mage’s behavior and forged ahead anyway. He knew

Darian wasn’t yet angry. In the time he’d been guarding the Mage, he’d come to know about how far he could push Darian before really having to fear his ire. He wasn’t even close and yet, the Mage seemed to want Kelindril to believe he was angry. Interesting, thought Kelindril.

They didn’t wait much longer. When the tiny seer appeared in the doorway, her beauty astounded them. She wore a slinky, dark blue dress that came to her ankles. A silver belt circled her waist and silver slippers peeked out from beneath the dress. They all watched the sensuous sway of her hips, as she walked onto the walkway and tugged the door closed. Her dress parted to show off her shapely legs and none of them were even embarrassed about ogling.

Darian held out his arm for her and she slipped her arm through his as they made their way to the Black Mare. Darian wasn’t kidding when he said he was starving. All the work he’d been doing on new spell creation and making love to the sexy seer had taken its toll on the Mage’s appetite.

Neira swung by to take their order. When she saw Darian, she froze. That is, until he looked into her eyes and flashed that smile of his.

“Neira, you look lovely this morning. I do apologize for having to cancel at such short notice. Perhaps in a few days we can get together?” asked the Mage, after Nephraete had left the table to greet Tynuviel, who was sitting with Tireniel.

“Talk is that you’re with Renlyss, Darian. I don’t want to get in between you two.”

“Mhmmm,” replied the Mage. “I am not with anyone right now, darlin’,” he said with that drawl of his that really heated her blood.

“Really?” she asked, a bit too excited about it.

“Really. So, can I call on you?”

“Of course! Yes,” she said, scarcely believing her luck. Nymdal simply shook his head with a smile on his fair face. The Mage was at it again. He couldn’t even help himself. Nymdal supposed it was engrained in him with how naturally he did it.

They all watched as Neira walked away, admiring the view and the sensual sway of her hips. Then Darian noticed whom Nephraete had gone to speak to and he did well to hide the emotions that fought to overtake him.

By the gods, she was so beautiful! The ache that welled within him nearly swallowed him whole. He didn’t think he’d ever be completely over her. Did he want to be? Could he get past his love for this woman and move on with his life? Did he want to? The sun radiated from behind her, setting her hair ablaze with its soft, pure light. It made her appear ethereal, soft and fuzzy around the edges. It took him a moment to realize that Kelindril was speaking to him.

“I’m sorry, Kelindril. What were you saying?” he asked, still unable to take his eyes off Tynuviel.

Kelindril looked to Nymdal before responding. Almost as if he was looking for inspiration.

“I said I’m sorry about how things worked out,” repeated the elven assassin.

Darian waved his hand as if it was inconsequential, “No matter. Everything is as it should be, Kelindril. I am not upset, why should you be?” Even as he said it, his eyes returned to Tynuviel and Kelindril wondered if he was even aware of it.

Nephraete returned soon after with a frown on her fair face. “What’s wrong, love?” asked Darian with a twinkle in his eye.

“Nothing,” she said in a tiny voice.

Darian put his right index finger under her chin to force her to look at him. “What is it?” he asked again.

“She still won’t talk to me. I guess I should have known as much, but it still stings. I haven’t done anything wrong and yet…” she trailed off; aware of whom she was speaking to. She blushed

furiously, hating that she caused him any more pain. She didn’t even want to mention the elven

beauty to the Mage. She knew he still loved her. Love like that did not vanish overnight.

Darian felt Sigorna stirring within the Demon Stone’s dark depths, but held him in check. It wouldn’t do to have the demon appear in a crowded eating establishment. He wondered if it was important or if the demon just wanted to irritate him some more.

Neira came to place their drinks on the table, saying not a word about their earlier conversation. Darian took a sip of his hot coffee. He realized that since he’d been with the seer, he felt lighter and more himself than he’d been in too long. It seemed she had another talent to add to her sensual list. She kept the darkness within him at bay and he wasn’t eager to give that up. Kyler was his friend, but gods how he wanted Nephraete in his bed as his consort! She was perfect in every way; tiny, sexy, beauty personified, and so tight that even now, he was responding to his memory of her body wrapped around his.

He was the worst sort of friend there was. He was supposed to be taking care of her, not taking care of her. Kyler would not appreciate his humor on the subject. He was unable to be friends with a woman because inevitably, she would end up in his bed beneath him.

Kylee walked in and was about to sit at another table when Darian motioned her over. Kelindril frowned in disapproval.

“Good morning, Darian,” she said, kissing him lightly on the cheek, as she took the only available seat next to Kelindril.

“Kylee, have you met Kelindril and Nymdal?” asked the Mage, laughter in his eyes. He knew Kelindril’s apprehension was palpable.

“Yes, I have,” she said softly, as she looked only at Kelindril.

  Hmm, interesting, thought Darian.

“Would you like some tea, Kylee?” asked Kelindril, unable to take his eyes off her.

  “Yes please,” she said, smiling.

Darian went to find Neira to add Kylee’s order to their table. When he returned, he saw Tynuviel watching him carefully, but pretended not to notice because he didn’t want to upset her.

  Nymda
l was watching the display between Kylee and Kelindril with surprised interest. Darian gave Nym a pointed look and he looked away. Nephraete admired the control the Mage had over the Gor Li’ Khan and knew that such control only came from respect. She could understand why so many would follow him. Likely to their deaths.

Darian walked the seer back to her room after breakfast and went to commune with the demon. He locked himself in his room and checked the wards to make sure they had not been tampered with. Then he called the demon to his side. Grey smoke rolled across the floor as the

  Falahari materialized.

“Darian, you are playing a dangerous game with the seer. You know this, yes?” asked Sigorna. He could see at once that his words had an impact on the Mage.

“I know not of what you speak,” the Mage lied.

“You’re porking your best friend’s girl, Mage. Do you think that’s wise? Did you understand me that time?” The Mage laughed aloud.

“I don’t see what’s so funny, Darian,” the demon warned.

“It was your choice of words, Falahari,” said Darian.

“She’s in love with you, Darian,” said the demon. The comment had the desired effect and wiped the mirth off the Mage’s face, sobering him instantly.

“I know. She’s told me a few times already.”

“Then why do you continue with this foolishness, Darian? Why did you even touch her?”

  “I didn’t mean to.”

  “She came on to you?”

“She was pretty insistent and I didn’t object hard enough.”

  “You mean at all?”

“Can’t see everything in Oblivion, can you?” asked Darian, ignoring the demon’s remark.

“Not when you block me, you bastard,” retorted the demon.

“Yes, she came on to me. Quite forcefully, too. She put Kelindril in his place and made him leave. Something I never thought was possible. Then, she told me that she couldn’t stop thinking about me and the kiss we’d shared. She told me she wanted me at least once and that it would get me out of her system. I told her that from my experience, it would only make matters worse. And here we are.”
