She did spend those days seeing the sights. Not only with Les and Marsha, but with the men in her pack and many of the Alphas. She was deeply indebted to them all and assured them she would never forget the way they had supported her. They, in turn, were enthusiastic in their praise for her performance before Zhu-Gung. Most admitted they never dreamed anyone could wield as much power as she had demonstrated. They also praised her restraint; she hadn’t killed anyone.
Mike had welcomed her back and insisted she do nothing but spend time with him for forty-eight hours. Yes, she’d kept her promise to return, for which he was grateful, and then she devoted herself to making him happy just as he’d asked. He told her that her absence while confronting evil witches in Hong Kong had worried him more than any other time, even when she’d been fighting in Afghanistan with Team Twenty-Two the previous summer. She did all she possibly could to make up for that.
For today’s celebration, Fredrick had arranged that she spend time with more than a dozen Alphas. She began meeting with them early in the afternoon so she would be finished and able to spend more time with her own pack members. These meetings went well and she made arrangements with several Alphas for programs which would be of mutual benefit.
When she then made time for each member in her pack, that also went extremely well. They were getting to really know her and, more and more, they opened up to her about their lives, their problems, their hopes and their dreams. She asked each of them how she personally could make a difference in their life. If there was nothing immediate which they wanted, she made them promise to come to her if and when anything might arise in the future.
She invited Ayleen to visit again, which she did. Missy wanted to reinforce Ayleen’s commitment to reject WIJO and remain loyal to U.S. interests. She’d told her, “I’m making you an honorary pack member. You only need to promise never to betray our secrets.”
Abu Habib and the other WIJO spies had all been forced to leave. Ayleen had met with Abu and explained she was not returning home to Afghanistan but was instead making a new home with Nolan Miller. When Abu had argued with her, she had smiled and said, “The demons are making me do this. Missy McCrea sends her regards and will punish WIJO should anyone come after me or Nolan.”
Mark and Alice were made honorary pack members as well. They each now had several pack members working for them and that was going great. Like John, Mark had graduated and would work full time managing Missy’s millions. Only until September, of course, when he’d start school at Harvard. He hoped his new management company would then only need his supervision part time.
Alice and Amanda were starting yet another project together. They wanted to work with other packs to eliminate arranged marriages and find ways for young girls to migrate to different packs, packs of their choosing, in hopes of finding mates of their choosing. If they wanted that. There would be competitions and incentives and this program would need work, but they were excited about it. Females were not merely for breeding.
Missy would spend two more days at home before teleporting over to join Team Twenty-Two on Monday. She and Mike would spend that Saturday with Missy’s family. Heather was now eight months and complaining constantly about how huge she was. Missy had sensed both her baby girls were supernaturals but was keeping that information to herself. Although not Shifters, Heather’s twin daughters would definitely become witches once they matured.
Sunday, of course, was Aaron and Michelle’s wedding. Mike’s sister was beyond excited and very tired of all the bridezilla jokes. She couldn’t wait for her big day and Missy was excited for her. The happy couple would honeymoon in Hawaii.
Missy was also excited for Oliver and Candace. They wanted to get married that summer as well. Missy promised she’d take leave and teleport back whenever they scheduled that. Weddings were always such happy events.
Eventually, darkness dropped down and the moon rose up high in the sky. It was a clear night and before long, her pack members were Shifting into their wolf forms and anxious for her to join them. Missy kissed Mike and soon she too was once again leading her pack for their run through the deep woods. There was much howling. And, occasionally, a joyous cougar scream could be heard as well.
From the Author
Thank you for reading Missy Goes to Hong Kong, my eighth book about Missy. I hope you enjoyed reading about Missy and her friends as much as I enjoyed writing about her. I’ve always loved stories about female characters with special powers along with stories about witches and werewolves. Future books in this series are planned, so keep checking on Amazon.
I hope you will consider leaving a review for Missy Goes to Hong Kong on Amazon, letting others know what you think about this book and this series. Word-of-mouth is crucial for any author to succeed. Your kind words, even if only a line or two, will help others decide to read about Missy and inspire me to keep this series going for many more books. That would make all the difference and be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!
