“It’s perfect,” I breathe.
I’m going to look like a completely different person.
A new body, a new face, and even a new ass.
“Let’s do it,” I say with a nod before I turn to look at the doctor.
He’s grinning, looking far too excited for this moment. “You’re going to be spectacular. A complete transformation.”
Sinking my teeth into my bottom lip, I smile as I shift my gaze over to him. “Lips too,” he calls out.
Nodding my head, I grin wider. “Yes,” I agree. “Everything.”
ONE YEAR LATER
Layne watches me from across his desk. I’ve just landed a huge regular client, huge. He smiles at me, his eyes lighting up as he leans back in his chair. I’m at his personal home, a place that he typically doesn’t see escorts, but for some reason, we’re more than just boss and employee, we’ve become friends.
“I have a bit of a bone to pick with you,” he announces.
“You do?” I ask, frowning.
He nods his head a couple of times. “I do. While I’m ecstatic you’re bringing in the most high-profile clients any single girl of mine has ever had, you have yet to bring me any new girls.”
“New girls…” I say, my words trailing off.
“Someone like you, with your qualities.”
My lips turn up into a smile. “There is nobody else like me, Layne, and you know this.”
He chuckles. “I do, Avah. I need fresh blood though.”
Rising to my high-heeled feet, I press my lips together. “I’ll find you someone, don’t worry. I have made a couple of friends at the medi-spa. There’s one girl, she’s gorgeous, young and sweet. She’d be an asset.”
“Get her. I don’t care how,” he practically growls.
“I’ll see what I can do.”
Turning my back to him, I start to walk out of the room when he calls out to me. Stopping at the door, I turn my head to look back at him from over my shoulder.
“Not see, Avah, do.”
“Layne,” I breathe.
He arches a brow. “Do it or your path will change and you’ll be put to work.”
I know what work means. Work means walking the streets and trying to find Johns, getting in their cars and probably getting hurt. I don’t want that, I don’t want any part of it. I like my apartment in the city, I like my clothes and shoes, I like going to the spa, I like my life. This is the most stability I have ever had.
“I’ll do it,” I whisper.
Leaving Layne’s place, I make my way outside and toward my car. Another thing that I like. I bought myself a little red BMW as soon as I made enough money. I got rid of my crappy Passat and slid into a leather two-door red Beemer and never looked back.
Now I have to recruit some poor woman to sell her body for money. I don’t know if I can do that, I don’t know if I can talk someone into selling themselves. I don’t care about me, I’m not special, I don’t have family or friends who love me.
Sex and money are all I have.
Other people aren’t like me though. Other people have a lot more going for them than I ever will. I don’t know if Trista is like me, but I hope that she’s at least willing to try because if she’s not, then it’s my ass that is in danger—literally.
HAWK
FIVE YEARS LATER
Something tickles my chest. Fingertips slide up my torso and around my throat. I grunt, pushing the hand off of me before I roll onto my stomach. I don’t know how she spent the night, I usually don’t allow that, but I was piss drunk and high last night, so I’m sure that has something to do with it.
“Hey, baby,” she purrs.
Opening my eyes, I blink once, then twice. It takes me a moment for my eyes to focus and my heart races in sheer panic until they do. The girl looks far too much like Savanna. So much so that I doubt I was anywhere near sober when I brought her home, typically I stay far away from women who look anything close to her, let alone women who could pass as her twin.
Clearing my throat, I sit up, forcing her body to fall away from me. “Get the fuck out,” I bark as I stand from the bed and start to walk toward the bathroom.
“That’s a nice way to talk to me, especially after what we did last night.”
My brows rise in surprise at her words as I turn my head to look over my shoulder at her. She’s frowning, sitting straight up, her bare tits on display.
“What did we do?” I ask when she doesn’t clarify.
I watch as her puffy lips press together before she licks them, her gaze finding mine. “We had sex, a lot of sex. You did things to me that I’ve never allowed any other man to do,” she hisses.
My lips turn up into a smirk. “Anal?” I ask.
Her eyes widen and she reaches for the comforter to pull it up and hide her bare breasts. I don’t know why she’s trying to hide herself now, I’ve seen everything and apparently, I touched it all last night, too.
“You’re a pig. I can’t believe you’re just going to kick me out,” she snaps.
Leaning forward, my eyes find hers. “Bitch, you let some guy you don’t know fuck your ass, that shit is not my fault. I won’t make you my girl, my Old Lady, or my wife, get your shit and get the fuck out.”
I hear her call out my name, but I ignore her. Turning away, I walk into my small bathroom and slam the door closed before I lock it and start the shower. By the time I finish my shower, I’m pleasantly surprised to see that she and her shit are as I demanded—gone.
With a snort, I put some clothes on and head outside, ready to climb on my bike and go for a run. That is, until I hear someone from a megaphone tell me to freeze.
“This is the California State Police, stop where you are and put your hands up.”
Lifting my gaze to the sound, I’m surprised to see that I’m surrounded by three police cars and six officers, plus one bitch that looks exactly like Savanna. Lifting my hands in surrender, I narrow my eyes on the smiling bitch. She’s wearing a smug look on her otherwise pretty face as she crosses her arms under her tits.
The officers rush me, one grabs my wrist and roughly shifts my arm around, then the other before he slaps the cuffs on them.
“Don’t fuck with my baby sister, asshole,” he growls in my ear.
“Maybe your baby sister shouldn’t be whoring around with men she doesn’t know,” I snap.
Something hard lands on the back of my head and everything goes completely black. The next thing I know, I wake up on the concrete floor of a cold jail cell. I let out a moan as I roll from my side onto my back.
“Don’t fuck with my sister ever again. When you get out, I want you to pack your shit and leave town. I know what you are and I want you gone.”
“What am I?” I growl.
He snorts. “A Savage Beast and a piece of shit all rolled into one. I don’t want the likes of you in my town or near my sisters.”
“I have no intention of sticking my dick inside that pussy again, not with teeth like that.”
He growls and starts to charge toward the cell, but his partner wraps his arms around him from behind and whispers to him. I think about asking if they’re going to blow one another right in front of me, but decide against it, I think I’ve said enough.
It doesn’t take long before I’m released. They don’t have shit on me. My trailer didn’t have anything other than a little recreational blow in it, which isn’t going to cost me any time, just some cash, which I have plenty of.
Smirking toward him, I watch as his partner drags him away and I’m left alone. Nothing matters anymore. I’ve been on the run, breathing but not living, for fifteen years. I doubt I’ll ever find any semblance of peace. I’m just surviving at this point.
AVAH
I know that Cameron is a regular client, usually he is a meet in the hotel, do it in the dark kind of guy. I only know because one of the girls told me once that he was kind of vanilla and a bit lackluster. He’s good for Trista, and if anyone can push h
er toward more, it will be him.
My date, on the other hand, likes kink. I’ve been with him a few times and I always know that I’ll be out of commission for at least a week after. He likes to leave marks and there’s no way I can be with someone else with another man’s mark on my skin.
Never mind the fact that Layne would freak the fuck out, it’s just icky and kind of rude. So tonight, I’ll be with my date, and he will pay me well, then I will go home and spend a week recovering.
His hand wraps around my waist and his fingers grip me tightly before he tugs me against his side.
“I’m going to fuck your ass tonight,” he breathes against my ear, his breath fanning over my cheek.
I try not to shiver in disgust. I try really damn hard, but I can’t control the goose bumps that break out all over my skin. My date takes that as a sign that I’m turned on or excited about the words he’s just whispered into my ear.
I’m not.
In fact, anal isn’t really my thing—at all. I’ve only done it a couple of times and I was paid handsomely for it. Those payments paid off the balance of my plastic surgeries to Layne. After that, I said I wasn’t going to do it any longer.
Without turning my head toward him, I speak through my smiling lips, as I look out at the crowd all around us and try to find Trista and her date. I see them and breathe a sigh of relief at them dancing innocently on the dance floor.
“Have you discussed this with Layne, this is something typically talked about and negotiated with him.” Not to mention that preparing for anal is something that needs to be done before a date, something that I haven’t done today.
“You’ll give it to me for free,” he announces.
“Why would I do that?” I say, keeping my voice low and sugary sweet.
He wraps his hand around my elbow, his fingers gripping my skin far too tightly. I’m going to have marks there now too. Lovely. Clearing my throat, I wait for him to speak, to answer me.
“You’ll do it or I’ll pull my account from Layne and go elsewhere with my money,” he snaps.
Pressing my lips together, I look out at the people dancing around me. They have no clue that this asshole is trying to blackmail me. That he’s trying to take from me something that I’m not quite willing to give—especially for free.
He will get it too. Because Layne will do a lot worse than fuck me in the ass if I lose this man as a client. When you lose a big hitter like this, a big fish, they typically take all of their friends with them and he has friends, loads of them, and they’re all connected with very deep pockets.
“Not for free,” I whisper.
“Do you think you have a leg to stand on when it comes to what you will and will not do for me, Avah?” he asks, almost snarling.
I hum, my smile growing as I turn to face him. “At the end of the day, Senator, we both have a lot to lose if we fuck with one another. However, I’ll do this for you happily and willingly for a personal cash payment.”
He snorts, his gaze searching mine. “How much?”
“Ten thousand in cash before.”
He could afford a hell of a lot more. God knows that Layne would charge him at least double for my ass. However, that’s not what this is about, this isn’t just about a little extra cash in my pocket, this is about control. I will not let him or anyone have that kind of control over me. Not ever.
He tugs me against his chest, his hand placed at the small of my back as he tips his head down and his eyes clash with my own.
“I should tell you no,” he grunts. “But…” He lifts his hand and cups my cheek, his thumb sliding along my skin just below my eye. “I’ll give you your money and you’ll give me your ass, yes?”
Nodding my head, I don’t look away from him. Holding his gaze, I inhale a small breath before I speak. “Yes, I’ll do that.”
He leans forward, his lips touching mine in a soft brush. “Good girl,” he purrs.
A shiver of disgust rolls throughout my entire body. I mask it with lowered eyelids and pouty lips. I’ve taken seduction lessons for the past three years, I know how to hide my true feelings, especially those of disgust.
“Let’s go,” he practically barks.
“Yes, Senator,” I exhale, instantly slipping into the submissive role that he will expect when we make our way upstairs to our room for the evening.
I hate myself a little each time I sell my body to a man. I know that this is my job and I do it willingly. But it doesn’t take away from the fact that it chips away at the woman inside of me, the one that I hide, the vulnerable one who just wants to be happy. Every single day over and over.
HAWK
FIVE YEARS LATER
“Pres,” I grunt.
“We got a problem, how close are you to Eagar?”
I pause for a moment, looking out at the desert sky and let out a sigh. “I’m in Lake Havasu City,” I grumble.
I’m here because it’s party season and I’ll just be another tourist on a bike. Nobody will look at me twice, nobody will question me, and I can do the few runs that I need to, then work my shift at the bar at night.
Bartending isn’t my favorite job, but it gets me by, plus it allows me to learn everything that I need to about every town that I’m in. Who does what, where, when, and how. It’s the perfect cash-paying gig, plus I get laid on the regular.
“I’m a few hours away, what’s up?”
There’s a moment's pause and then he grunts. “It’s Savanna. We got a problem. She fucked up, man. For a long fucking time she’s been fucking up, but this time she tried to fuck with the club.”
“Trista?” I ask.
He’s quiet. “We’ve tried to keep an eye out, but nobody really knows what’s going on inside that house. Silver knows more than most, but he washed his hands of Savanna a while ago.”
My brows rise in surprise. Never would I have imagined that Silver would wash his hands of Vanna. I would have thought that he’d slip right into my spot, right into my still-warm bed. I know without a doubt it’s where he wanted to be, and honestly, he probably would have been a hell of a lot better to her and for her than I ever was or ever could be.
“What do you need me for?” I ask.
He clears his throat, then speaks, hesitating to do so, knowing that I’m assuredly not going to like it. “She needs to be dealt with and she’s your Old Lady. Even if you haven’t had her in over twenty years, she’s still yours to deal with. That’s the respect you deserve, it ain’t my place.”
“You mean you want me to take care of her?” I ask.
He’s quiet for a moment. “Yeah, brother. It’s time to come home and stay home.”
His words, they make my stomach clench. Home. I can’t remember the last time that I had a real home. I’ve been moving from trailer park to trailer park for years. City to city, state to state. Living with Savanna wasn’t a home either, it was like a goddamn prison. The only thing that ever made it bearable was Tristiana, my girl.
“I’m on my way.”
Ending the call, I load up my shit without a second thought and climb on my bike. Starting the engine, I’m not sure if I can really do this, but I do. I don’t have a choice. This is brotherhood, this is family, this is my duty.
Maybe I’ll finally be able to have some peace about my abandonment of Savanna, maybe she’ll allow me to be her friend again. Maybe I’m living in a goddamn dream world. If I were her, I’d fucking hate me.
Leaving Havasu behind, I head toward Eagar and wonder what exactly awaits me. A lot of anger, I suspect, not just from Trista, but from my brothers too. As far as I know, Dragon didn’t tell any of the brothers why I left, because I asked him not to.
They’re probably all fucking pissed off with me. They’ll feel betrayed, I’m sure. I know if the tables were turned, I would feel the same way. Again, I’d fucking hate me.
It’s going to take me a long time not only to earn their trust but also their respect. I will earn both again, even if it takes me ye
ars. I’m not walking away from my life again. I made that mistake once and I don’t plan on repeating it.
I miss that part of my world way too fucking much to ever walk away a second time.
AVAH
The big ape stares at me from across the room. I’ve thrown attitude at both of them and honestly, I’m not sure which one terrifies me more, Taz or Hawk. I know which one I want to fuck more, definitely Daddy Hawk—yum.
Taz and Trista run off to her room to hate fuck, leaving me alone with her daddy. If my ass didn’t ache and I didn’t have bruises all over my body, I would definitely try to get in there because the man is fine times ten.
“You look like some high-maintenance bitch,” he gruffly announces.
I snort. He has no clue, not a single one. “Why, because I like to look nice?” I ask.
He chuckles, leaning back on my sofa. “Because you’ve had so much plastic surgery, you look like a dark-haired Barbie, you live in an expensive as fuck pad, and you’re lookin’ down your nose at me and Taz like you’re fuckin’ special and we ain’t shit.”
Pressing my lips together, I think about telling him the truth, but I decide against it. Tilting my head to the side, I only give him a small smile. “I am high maintenance, but don’t worry, I take care of it all myself. I don’t need a man to do it for me.”
He shakes his head once. “That’s where you’re wrong, babe. You do need a man, but it’s not for money.”
“What’s it for?” I demand.
He hums, but doesn’t move from his spot. “You’re not ready to hear it yet. I’ll let you know when you are.”
“Oh, because you’re some kind of all-knowing being?” I snort.
He shrugs a shoulder. “You’re not ready to hear or understand it fully, babe. You will be though.”
“And let me guess, part of all that includes bouncing on your dick?” I ask, leaning forward.
