Burned Page 8

Several hours later, he woke slowly, his face buried in blonde hair that smelled amazing. He took a deep breath, inhaling her. His cock bucked immediately, lengthening against her as he shifted himself into a slightly more comfortable position.

Jessie felt groggy for a moment trying to figure out where she was. She and Jack had been watching a movie. Then they had given each other back massages. They must have fallen asleep.

She sighed and shifted her body so her ass slid against his erection which immediately swelled harder. Her body reacted to the contact, arousal clouding her judgment. She reached behind her and rested her hand lightly on him, pressing tentatively as she slid her hand down his rock hard thigh.

Christ, she felt good. He was already rock hard when his hands started exploring her body over her clothes, and when she pressed her sweet ass against his dick and ran her hand down his thigh it throbbed painfully.

He rubbed his hand over a full breast, rough fingertips hesitating as he felt her nipple harden under his touch through the cotton of her tank top. He knew he shouldn’t be touching her but she smelled so good, felt so fucking good. Just holding her for a minute wouldn’t hurt anything, right?

Jessie rolled over so she was facing him and he bent his head and pressed his face against her throat. She felt his hands skip lightly over the back of her thighs and settle on her ass, rubbing her softly and pulling her against him.

His erection pressed against her, hard and throbbing. Jessie couldn’t help but notice again how fucking huge he was, so much thicker and longer and harder than Scott had been.

They grinded against each other until Jessie was moaning and breathless from the friction of Jack’s rock hard cock rubbing against her through the barrier of their clothing.

His face was in her hair, his breath coming harder now also, as he kissed her neck. He brought his mouth up to hers and kissed her, his tongue slipping past her lips and touching hers lightly. She responded and soon they were kissing urgently.

He reached between her legs, rubbing gently over the soft material of her pajama pants. He moved his lips down her throat. With his other hand, he pushed her tank top up, revealing a perfect breast and perky nipple.

He groaned and swirled his tongue over her nipple, making her gasp.

  “Jack,” Jessie whispered breathlessly.

He continued using his tongue to lick and tease the hard tip until she was moaning and grinding herself against his hand.

Jessie reached down and felt his erection straining through his pajama pants. She glided her hand down the length and then wrapped it around his thickness over the soft flannel.

“Christ, Jessie…” Jack sighed, his cock responding to her touch by pulsing in her hand.

She softly stroked him through his pants, moaning as she realized his full size. He was so big… she shivered a little, wondering what a big cock like that would feel like inside of her. She felt so empty… she was dying to know what it would feel like to have Jack inside of her.

They kissed hungrily, continuing to rub each other over their clothes, their excitement escalating to a fever pitch. Jack flipped Jessie onto her back, hovering over her, kissing her as he grinded himself against her and then slid his hand back between her legs so he could continue rubbing that spot that kept making her whimper and pant as he kissed her senseless.

“Fuck,” Jack mumbled, his voice a low, harsh whisper. “Does that feel good?”

  “Yes… so good… Jack… I want you,” Jessie whispered back. “So much. I’ve never been so… so…”

He pressed his lips against hers. He couldn’t hear anymore. He was seconds away from peeling her clothes off and fucking her into a coma. He realized that he was losing control.

What the hell was he doing? This was Jessie in his arms for fuck’s sake. This was his friend who he had his hands and lips all over, not some random slut he had picked up at a bar. She deserved his respect, not to be played with like a little sex toy for his amusement.

But fuck… this was so much more than that. His heart was pounding like it never had before with any other girl. The connection he had with her was so intense… like nothing else he had ever felt. With anyone. Ever. She was his best friend, but so much more, too.

He thought about her all the time. Not just about fucking her. Everything was better when she was there. Every time he thought about his future, she was in it. When she wasn’t around things didn’t feel quite right.

Goddammit, this whole situation was getting out of hand.

“Fuck,” he growled, pulling away, ripping his hand away from her like he had burned it on the stove.

“Jack, don’t stop, please.” Jessie tried to pull his hand back but he pulled her into a sitting position next to him as he sat up himself. They were both breathing heavily.

“Fuck, Jessie… I can’t… I don’t want to do this with you.” He ran a hand through his hair. “Didn’t mean to start this… I’m sorry…”

“Oh… God… I’m…” She mumbled breathlessly, eyes downcast, cheeks flushed.

She looked completely embarrassed as she got awkwardly off the couch and hurried out of the room. She was totally confused. Why did he do that? Put his hands all over her and kiss her and then push her away? She didn’t understand. Was there something wrong with her?

“Jessie… wait… don’t go,” he called after her weakly, raking his hand over his face and through his hair.

He heard the front door open and slam shut and then her car start. He glanced at his phone. It was three o’clock in the morning. He shouldn’t have let her leave this late.

Fuck. He was such an asshole. He had started the whole thing and he was pretty sure he’d never left a girl hanging like that. If that wasn’t bad enough, he had obviously really hurt her feelings. He had tried to be so careful not to fuck with her and here he was, doing it again. If he didn’t keep it together around her he was going to lose his best friend.

  If he hadn’t already.

JACK WOKE UP TO KENNEDY poking him in the chest.

  “Jack,” she whispered loudly.

  He ignored her.

“Jack,” she tried again, poking a little harder.

“Hmmm?” Jack finally acknowledged her. He was exhausted.

“I’m hungry. I want breakfast, please,” Kennedy said, reaching for the remote control on his night table and turning the television on. She put on her favorite cartoon and snuggled down in the bed next to him.

“Uh-huh.” Jack rolled on his back and held his eyes open, trying to wake up.

“Jack,” Kennedy’s voice shifted to a whine.

“Okay, I’m up,” Jack answered gruffly. He reached for his phone. It was only seven o’clock in the morning.

He read a text from Jessie. She would pick Kennedy up at nine-thirty to go to church and could he please make sure her hair was neat?

He swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood up, stretching on his way to the bathroom.

“Come on, kid. I’ll get you some breakfast,” Jack said after he had used the bathroom and brushed his teeth.

“I want pancakes, please,” Kennedy requested, not looking away from the television.

“You can have cereal. Jessie’s not here to make pancakes,” Jack reminded her.

“Why not? Where is she?” Kennedy asked.

  “She went home last night.”

“Oh. Okay. Captain Crunch. Can I have a donut also?”

“Yeah, if we have any.” Jack made his way to the kitchen where he started a pot of coffee.

He poured a bowl of cereal and splashed milk over it, setting it on the table. Then he hunted through the pantry for donuts.

“Sorry, kid. No donuts. How about these instead?” He pulled a box of mini blueberry muffins out and held it up.

  Kennedy grinned and nodded.

THERE WAS A KNOCK AT exactly nine-thirty. Jack opened the door, his eyes raking over Jessie. She wore a pink skirt that fell right below the knee and a grey and p
ink striped top, tights and pumps. A long pink overcoat tied at the waist completed her outfit.

He loved the way she dressed for church… so conservative, but stylish. There was something hot about it to him… thinking about that sexy body under those oh-so-appropriate clothes. She was so ladylike and pristine in those outfits… it made him want to soil her in the worst way.

  “Hey,” he greeted her.

He felt really bad about the night before. He hoped she wasn’t still upset.

“Hey,” she answered, stepping inside but not making eye contact.

“Jessie!” Kennedy called out, running over and throwing her arms around her for a hug.

“Hi, baby girl… you look adorable.” Kennedy was wearing a sweet dress, cardigan, and tights. Her hair was in a neat ponytail, the only way Jack knew how to do it. “Ready?”

“Wait! I forgot my purse!” Kennedy said, racing toward the stairs.

“Purse? What could she possibly need a purse for?” Jack asked.

Jessie laughed. “She likes to carry her lip balm and glitter pen. She also carries a little Frozen sticker book.”

Jack shook his head. “How does one kid collect so much shit in such a short amount of time?”

Jessie smiled. “Well, for starters you almost never tell her no when she asks you to buy her things at the store.”

  Jack shrugged. That was true.

“Listen, about last night,” Jack said. “I…”

“It’s fine, Jack. Forget it. We were half asleep. You probably didn’t even realize it was me.” Jessie forced her voice to stay as light as possible. She had decided the best course of action in this impossibly embarrassing situation was to try to pretend like it hadn’t mattered to her in the least.

“I feel bad that I…” Jack continued.

“Seriously, Jack. It’s no big deal. I barely even remember it I was so tired.” She was lying and she was sure he knew it, but there was no way she was going to have this conversation with him.

He nodded, grateful she was letting this go so easily.

  Chapter Seven

JESSIE KNOCKED ON THE DOOR and waited a second before trying to open it. As she went to turn the knob, the door swung open. Jessie looked with surprise at the stunning blonde standing in the doorway. The girl gave her a friendly smile.

“Oh… um,” Jessie stammered, “Is… is Jack home? He told me to come by… sorry… maybe I got the time wrong.”

She blushed as she noticed that the very pretty blonde standing in Jack’s doorway was wearing pajama bottoms and a tank top. Clearly she had spent the night.

Jessie felt her heart sink. It hadn’t occurred to her that Jack would still bring women home, now that he had Kennedy living here.

She hoped that Jack would be careful who he brought around Kennedy and would consider what kind of influence that might have on her. But of course, it was really none of her business.

“Jack’s in the shower. He’s always in there so long! I swear, he’s worse than a girl!” The blonde with the southern accent laughed and turned to walk back toward the kitchen. “Come on in… it’s so cold out there. I’m making Jack his favorite pancakes and I don’t want them to burn.”

The girl ushered her inside and closed the door, ignoring Jessie’s weak protests.

Pancakes? Jessie’s stomach was in knots. How did this girl know that Jack loved chocolate chip pancakes? She was cooking breakfast for him? And obviously for Kennedy, too.

Jessie hesitated. “Um… I think I’m just going to go. He must have forgotten. I didn’t realize he had company… sorry.”

“Wait, don’t go. You must be Jessie. He mentioned you were coming over.”

Jessie turned to find Jack standing behind them, observing the scene.

“Hey,” he greeted her, amusement lighting up his eyes. “I see you’ve met my goofy sister.”

“Oh!” Jessie said, realization dawning on her pretty face. “You’re Jack’s sister! Sarah!”

“Oh my God… you didn’t think that I’m…” The blonde put a hand over her open mouth, laughing and giving Jessie a horrified look at the same time. “I’m not one of his… ew gross!”

Sarah could practically see the relief wash over Jessie. She was surprised. Jack hadn’t mentioned that Jessie was a pretty blonde with a body to die for. Funny that he had left that little detail out when he mentioned his friend Jessie that helped him out with Kennedy.

They must be sleeping together. She knew her brother. And although Jessie didn’t look like his usual hook-ups, there was no way he wouldn’t be tempted by this beauty.

Jessie laughed. “I’m so sorry! Jack said you weren’t coming until after the holidays.”

“We sold our house a lot faster than we expected, and the buyers wanted to move quickly, so… here we are!”

Jessie heard girlish laughter coming from Kennedy’s room and then she and another little girl were rushing down the stairs.

“Jessie! Jessie!” Kennedy called out excitedly, hurling herself into Jessie’s arms. “Did you meet my Aunt Sarah? She’s going to live with us until she finds a new house! And this is my cousin, Beth. We’re almost the same age, except that she’s one year older than me.”

Jessie hugged Kennedy close and kissed the top of her head.

“Hi, Beth!” Jessie smiled at the little girl. “I’m so happy to meet you!”

“Hi.” Beth smiled shyly. She was a very pretty girl with brown hair and brown eyes.

Jessie smiled at her as she stroked Kennedy’s long hair. “Your hair looks so good, baby girl.”

“Aunt Sarah did it,” Kennedy informed her, as she pulled away. “Jack? Can me and Beth watch a movie, please?”

Jack nodded and left to turn the television on for them.

Sarah and Jessie moved into the kitchen where Sarah offered her coffee.

Jessie, used to feeling very at home at Jack’s, felt a little strange, as if she had suddenly been reverted back to guest status, with Sarah taking on the role of woman of the house.

“Jack’s mentioned you a lot the past couple of months. He says you’ve been a huge help with Kennedy. Said he doesn’t know what he would have done without you,” Sarah said.

She was paraphrasing, actually. Jack had not said those exact words, but Sarah knew her brother and could read between the lines. She was pretty sure her brother, who knew nothing about children and certainly even less about little girls, had been only too happy to let Jessie help out as much as she wanted. However, he had not said a word about what Jessie looked like.

Jack joined them in the kitchen, pouring himself coffee.

Jessie shrugged. “She’s such a sweet girl. I love spending time with her so it’s no trouble at all.”

Sarah noticed Jack’s gaze settle briefly on Jessie as she spoke, and she noticed something in his eyes that she had never seen before. She suspected immediately that there was more to this so-called friendship than he was telling her.

Kennedy called to Jessie from the other room.

“I’ll be right back.” Jessie slipped off to see what Kennedy needed.

Sarah watched Jack’s eyes follow her out of the room, and she didn’t miss the way they heated briefly as they traveled up and down the girl’s body.

“You didn’t mention that Jessie was so attractive,” Sarah said slyly, enjoying any opportunity to give her brother a hard time.

He seemed unfazed. “Didn’t I?” His response was casual and he barely glanced her way as he helped himself to the pancakes and bacon she had made.

“Uh-uh.” Sarah smiled at him knowingly. “So what’s going on?”

Jack looked at her blankly. “With what?”

“With Jessie!” Sarah said, keeping her voice low. “Are you two like, a thing?”

Jack shook his head. “No. We’re just friends.”

“Seems like you spend a lot of time together. Kennedy seems close to her.” Sarah kept fishing for information.

  Jack had figured she was
going to ask. Sarah always wanted to know everything. She was always asking him how he felt about things. It must be the therapist in her.

  “Mmmhmm,” Jack responded.

“Come on, Jack!” Sarah said, exasperated. “Spill! I mean, do you actually have a girlfriend?”

He laughed. “Give it a rest, Sarah. Jessie and I are just friends.”

Now it was Sarah’s turn to laugh. “Friends? Since when do you have women for friends? Especially very attractive women?”

“Since now, I guess.” Jack took another bite of the delicious pancakes.

“You swear you’re not sleeping with her?” Sarah looked unconvinced.

“I’m not sleeping with her,” Jack said, rolling his eyes.

“Interesting. So are you trying to sleep with her?”

Sarah was trying to figure out why a girl like Jessie was wasting her time hanging around her brother. She loved her brother, but she held no illusions about him. She knew he was a total manwhore.

  “Nope.” He sighed.

  “Why not?” Sarah was relentless.

“I know you won’t shut the fuck up about it until I answer all your questions, so what do you want to know?” Jack sighed and gave up.

“Have you hooked up with her?” Sarah definitely sensed something between them.

Jack hesitated. “Depends on what you mean by hooked up. I haven’t fucked her.”

Sarah didn’t flinch. She was used to Jack’s language. “So… you kissed her or something?”

“Or something.” Jack rolled his eyes.

“Why haven’t you slept with her? Did you try and she turned you down?” Sarah asked.

“No. We’re friends. Don’t want to make things weird,” Jack said. “She’s not interested in casual sex. Those good enough reasons for you?”

“So… she’s gorgeous. She gets along with your kid. You’ve kissed, but you haven’t slept with her. You clearly care about her feelings… oh my God! Jack! You love her.” Sarah said, still amused.
