Connor addressed them. "I am Connor Sanders, son of the leader of the Grey Bay werewolf pack. News of your plight at the hands of the Davenport pack has reached me and I am here to do something about it. I have sent word to my father and he will be here in a few hours with no less than twelve werewolves to force these scoundrels out of Saint Louis."

There was loud murmuring from the people as they glanced at each other in confusion. Connor continued, however. He said, "The werewolf force here is quite strong so my pack members can't do it alone. This is where we come in. I need you all to fight and subdue the few werewolves who are currently here and not at the wedding. We need to make Saint Louis a fort so we can take down the remaining werewolves when they arrive. Are you with me?"

A deep silence came over the crowd. Alex spoke, "If this is going to work, you all have to fight. You have to fight for your freedom and that of your children, please."

The crowd began to murmur once more. One man stepped forward from them and said in a loud voice, "We have resigned ourselves to fate. Believe me when I say there's no fight left in us. Our leader is marrying the werewolves as we speak. We have no choice but to wait to see what his plans are."

Mrs. Archer spoke for the first time. "My son does not know what he's doing. He thinks his actions will save us. I hate to say this, but it won't. It would alone push us deeper into the hole."

The man said, "It's better we stay in the hole if you asked me." The crowd roared in agreement. Beryl, Alex, Connor, and Gabriel looked on in horror. The werecoyotes must have been more broken than they thought.

There were loud footsteps coming towards them fast. Beryl decided the noise from the crowd must have alerted the werewolves in the area. Ten men ran to stand behind her and Nicholas's friends.

Beryl said to Alex, "We're outnumbered. What do we do?"

He replied, "We can't get help from the werecoyotes, so we are on our own."

She said, "I understand you are a pure-born, but you can't really be serious."

"I am. Take Mrs. Archer inside. Get her to safety because things are about to get real here." And with that, he faced the werewolves and shifted in an instant into a gigantic lion.

Beryl watched in horror as Gabriel turned into a tiger and Connor into a large wolf. The werewolves shifted into their animal forms too and ran to surround them. Beryl ran over to Mrs. Archer and tried to guide her into the house.

All the werecoyotes had backed up to watch the fight. It was obvious this was going to be a slaughter as the werewolves far outnumbered their opponents. Just then, the sound of a car screeching to a halt came from behind the crowd. Beryl easily recognized Nicholas from the distance. She could see him running in their direction.

Nicholas said, "I was wrong. Marrying Sonia would have been a mistake. You deserve better than this. We all deserve better than this."

The crowd was no longer murmuring. They seemed to truly consider his words The wolves stood waiting in uncertainty. The lion, tiger, and wolf trio stood face to face with them, ready to pounce if they attacked.

Nicholas continued, "This is the only time we have to earn our freedom. We might lose a lot by fighting back, but think of the things we stand to gain if we fight."

The man who spoke for the crowd said, "If you believe we stand a chance, then surely we do. Say the word, Nicholas."

Turning to glare at the frightened wolf, Nicholas screamed, "Attack!"

Just when Beryl thought she was getting used to seeing humans shift into animals, she experienced a whole new sight. Every one of the men and women in the crowd except Mrs. Archer metamorphosed into coyotes that were larger than regular coyotes although not as large as Nicholas in his coyote form.

The wolves, on seeing that they were now considerably outnumbered tried to make a run for it. The wave of coyotes ran after them in an instant. It was more of a beatdown than a battle. Two minutes later and all the wolves had been knocked out cold. Beryl was certain if they wanted, the werecoyotes would have slaughtered them all.

She walked up to Nicholas. "Are you okay?" she asked.

"Yes," he said. "I still can't shift yet, but I'm fine. Are you?"

"Yes, even better now that you're here."

He grinned. "Is there somewhere else I should be?"

  "Nope. Nowhere else."

  "Good."

  "What's next?" she asked.

He replied with a frown, "Next, we tie them up, gag them, and we wait for the others."

  Chapter 31

Lord Davenport looked a lot more intimidating than she thought. Hiding in a large warehouse with Mrs. Archer, Nicholas, his brother Tim, a pregnant woman, and three little children, Beryl watched the werewolves arrive from the wedding venue looking furious.

Lord Davenport was a large man with a thick beard underneath his chin and no hair on his head. Kyle got out of their car immediately after him, followed by four men. Other cars came to a halt and more men rushed out. It would seem Sonia stayed behind at the villa.

"We are going to burn this place to the ground!" Lord Davenport said. "How dare he disrespect me and my daughter like that."

Being so close to Nicholas, Beryl could hear his rapid breathing. He seemed to be preparing for something.

Kyle placed a hand on his father's shoulder. He said, "You have to calm down, Father. You have to think this through."

"Shut up, boy! You wimp. You are nothing like your sister. I am going to crush them and nothing will stop me."

Just then, there was a loud sound of glass shattering from one of the factory buildings. That was the cue. Led by a lion, tiger, and wolf, the coyotes sprang out of their hiding places from all directions and converged on the werewolves who were still in human form.

Realizing that they were being ambushed, some of the werewolves, including Lord Davenport and his son, managed to shift just in time. The ones who could not were slammed against the ground and knocked senseless.

The battle raged between the two factions. There were twice as many fighters on the werewolf side as they were on their werecoyote side. However, the presence of the pure-born lion helped maintain some level of balance. Though with time, Alex got weaker and it seemed Lord Davenport and his son, now in wolf forms, were hellbent on bringing him down. More and more werecoyotes were falling.

"We're losing," Nicholas said in alarm. He had been forced to sit out the battle because he could not shift. Beryl looked up in alarm as he stood on his feet.

"What are you doing, son?" Mrs. Archer asked. "You can't survive out there in human form."

"Don't be stupid, Nicholas, please," Beryl said.

"I have to try. I still have my pure-born powers to offer. We need all the help we can get. Stay with the kids. I have to go," he said. Even as he spoke, Beryl knew there was no stopping him.

She watched through the window as Nicholas burst through the door and ran straight into the center of the battle. The wolves came for him, led by Lord Davenport, the only grey wolf among them. Such was his hatred for Nicholas that he finally left the lion alone.

Nicholas moved faster than any man she had ever seen. He struck the wolves with hard punches to the head, knocking them out cold. The grey wolf managed to land a blow to his side, causing him to fall to the ground. He was bleeding heavily from the resulting wound on his side.

Beryl gasped as she saw the grey wolf spring at him. Then something inexplicable happened. Wounded and weak, Nicholas body writhed on the ground before transforming into a large coyote. The grey wolf stood no chance after that. Nicholas held his leg with his powerful jaw, lifted it off the ground and slammed him hard against the sandy earth, knocking him unconscious.

Nicholas made to join the battle, but there was little left of it. With the attention of Lord Davenport elsewhere, Alex was set free to run wild on the werewolves. Together with the help of his friends, the werecoyotes were able to defeat the remaining wolves.

Beryl heard Mrs. Archer breathe a sigh of relief. She too felt the tension drain out
of her body. There were only a few coyotes left standing, as most of them were either seriously injured or unconscious.

All that did not matter to Beryl as she ran out of the house they were hiding in to meet Nicholas who could no longer hold his coyote form and had to shift back into a naked human. All that mattered to Beryl at that moment was the man she had fallen in love with was alive and free.

Looking out the window in Nicholas' room, Beryl watched the men and women hurrying up and down the place. She realized she was witnessing what was more like a new revolution for this people. They looked so happy.

The door to the room swung open and she turned around to see Nicholas walk in. He was now fully clothed in a blue vest and grey jeans.

He said to her, "Connor's pack are already in Constance. They'll be in Saint Louis anytime soon. The werewolves have been thrown out of Saint Louis. Our new friends will always make sure they stay out for a few months."

  "That's good," she said.

He came forward to stand close to her. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, I am. It's just that, you almost died today and I keep thinking what if you did? That would have been on me. I pushed you to go against the marriage."

He smiled. "You pushed me to save my people. Sure, we have a long way to go, but my friends have offered to help. All this is happening because of you."

She smiled. "Maybe, or maybe I couldn't stand the thought of you getting married. Nicholas, I.. I know we don't know each other much, but there's something about you. I can't place it."

He smiled. "I know. I can't place it either. Let's find out together, shall we?" He drew closer to her.

She grinned mischievously. "Yes, that sounds like fun."

When his mouth came down on hers, she was transported back to that night in the dark alley once more. She felt his hot breath on her face as he kissed her with unbridled passion. As his tongue stroked hers repeatedly, she felt his hands cup her buttocks and lift her fully off the floor.

Beryl felt herself being carried towards the bed. Her eyes were closed as she savored the taste of his lips and texture of his hot tongue. Nicholas placed her back gently on the bed and knelt over her. While he removed his vest, she hurriedly tore off her blouse and bra, freeing her massive breasts.

"I am going to enjoy making love to those," he said cupping her breasts in his hands and squeezing them gently. Nicholas bent down and took the already hardened nipple of her left boob in his mouth.

"Oh, God!" Beryl screamed as he sucked on the nipple hungrily. His fingers rubbed against her right nipple while his mouth dealt with the one on her left breast. She could not believe she could feel such pleasure just from having her breasts stimulated.

Nicholas took her right breast in his mouth now. He opened his mouth wide and took in as much of the swollen flesh as possible. Being careful not to graze her with his teeth, he flicked his tongue up and down against the hard nipple. Beryl moaned as she felt the suction of his mouth and the teasing of his tongue all at once.

He took his attention off her breasts and began to kiss her neck, the base of her throat, and next her stomach. All the while his hands fumbled with her skirt until he had pulled it off. All she had on was her pink panties which by now was soaking wet.

His lips pressed against the softness of her belly and she felt her entire body melt under their touch. When his hands peeled away her underwear and threw it on the floor, she was all too eager to spread her legs apart before him.

Nicholas bent even lower and placed his mouth on her inner left thigh. He flicked his tongue on the smooth flesh and traced a wet trail that ran closer and closer to her vagina. When his tongue finally touched her the fleshy entrance to her pussy, she felt the pleasure resonate over her entire body.

Nicholas began to tease and lick the softness of her flesh with relish. The sight and sound of him eating her out only served to enhance the overwhelming pleasure she was feeling. Beryl urged him on by holding on to his ponytail while he licked the liquid of every inch of her vagina. A shock wave rocked her entire body as she orgasmed with his tongue still inside her.

Thoroughly wet and hungry for more she felt his fingers slide into her, causing her to moan out loud. He began to slide all three fingers in and out of her with such speed and intensity that her body rocked in rhythm with the movement of his hand.

"I'm coming again! I'm... " She could not finish the sentence before another shock wave hit her. This time, it was more intense than the first.

  "Nicholas, please."

"Do you want me to stop?" he asked sheepishly.

  "Don't you dare!"

  "What do you want then?"

"I want to feel you inside of me. I want you to fuck me right now!"

With her eyes closed and lost in post-orgasmic bliss, she could hear the ruffle as he took off his jeans and boxers. When she opened them, he had his cock positioned right in front of her pussy.

"Oh fuck!" Beryl gasped out as the head of Nicholas' penis penetrated her. He took his sweet time to tease her with it until she was clutching the sheets of the bed like a crazy person. When he eventually drove the full length of his penis into her, it was almost she could do not to pass out from the intensity of what she was feeling.

Nicholas positioned his body nearly parallel to hers as he jammed his cock in and out of her pussy. She could not believe how fast he was going. Each time he hit her with the full length, she hardly had time to recover before he was completely submerged in her once again.

"Damn you're tight," he said as her vagina muscles contracted to pull more of him in. She could tell he was on the brink of a shattering orgasm.

When he least expected it, she spun on the bed, surprising even herself as he fell with his back to the bed. Straddling him, she used her hand to place his rigid cock directly underneath her pussy. Their eyes met and stayed that way as she let her weight fall on his groin.

They both moaned loudly as his penis sheathed itself in her warmth once more. She began to ride him slowly at first, but with each passing second her need increased, causing her to move her hips back and forth with blinding pace.

They were lost in the moment now, unable to think of anything else but the pleasure erupting between their groins. Their eyes met one last time and that was the trigger for a breathtaking orgasm. Her body quaked on top of his as their centers exploded in unison. She felt his moist seeds dripping down her thighs as she slumped on his chest.

"That was something else," she murmured.

He chuckled. "I still can't find words to explain it."

She said, "Guess we just have to keep trying until we find out."

He laughed, but his eyes were filled with so much passion. "Even if it takes a thousand years?"

"Even if it takes forever," she said and kissed him on the lips.

Beryl heard the car pull up outside the house. No doubt that was her husband returning from his trip to New Constance. He had been gone for five hours and she was almost beginning to worry.

She struggled to rise to her feet as the front door swung open. Ever since her pregnancy reached its eighth month, she had begun to really feel heavy. Her little baby was on her way soon. She and Nicholas were still in the process of thinking of a name for her ever since they found out the baby's gender at the hospital. Although Beryl did not tell Nicholas, she hoped her baby was a shifter so she could add to the growing werecoyote population in Saint Louis and Old Constance.

Nicholas walked in with Timmy, his son. Upon seeing his father's wife, the four-year-old boy happily ran into her arms. Beryl wished she could bend down to hug him back, but the most her heavy pregnancy could allow her to do was stroke his head lovingly. Over the years, she had come to see Sonia's child as her own even though his mother hardly let him come by.

She said to Nicholas, "I'm glad she let you take him for the weekend."

Nicholas grinned, "Ever since she got engaged, she's been relatively nicer to me. I can't wait to see how she improves when the poor fellow
marries her."

Beryl let out a soft chuckle. "Don't be like that. That's your kid's mother."

"I know. She's an amazing woman. Look how well she raised Tommy."

"Yes, exactly," she agreed. "How did the meeting with the Davenport pack leaders go?"

He replied, "Better than I expected. It seems Lord Davenport dying of cancer last year was the best thing to happen to Constance. Kyle isn't his father. He agreed to peace with the werecoyotes. He has promised to pass the new rule as long as we do the same. From now on, any werewolf attacking a werecoyote would be severely punished. Same goes for our pack, too. We can't attack werewolves."

Beryl smiled. "You have no idea how relieved I am."

Nicholas nodded. "Me too. I want our little girl to come into a world of peace."

"So do I," Beryl said. "So do I." She was happy now. She had been from the day she married Nicholas, but now that happiness was complete.

Whether or not it would last forever, only time would tell. But for now, the future looked very bright indeed.

  The Baby Shift: Nevada

“Amelia, can you come into my office for a second?”

“Great…” Amelia muttered to herself before getting up from her desk. Bill Wright was the new senior editor for the arts section of N!, Las Vegas’ arts newspaper. Bill was brash, conceited, and, in Amelia’s opinion, not the best writer. But since he was now her boss, she had to keep that to herself and pretend she worshipped the ground he walked on. Bill was one of those men who was only nice to you if you gave him the deference he thought he deserved.

“Yes, Bill?” Amelia asked as she opened the glass door to his office and seated herself in the uncomfortable chair across from him.

“I’m supposed to interview the new head of the Shakespeare Company today, but I just don’t have time. There’s that exhibition at the portrait gallery over on East 60th, and then it’s my anniversary, and…”
