For You: Poems of Faith, Hope and Love Page 3

by Steven and Justin Clark

  And tonight

I’ll share with you the joy you’ve given me

If I had just one more moment

I know I’d get it right

I just want to say I love you

  In the park tonight

Last night, I prayed for a peaceful world

And I know He heard my plea

For He is the one who made this place

To be shared by you and me

And He is the one who made our love

In our hearts, He’s found a home

And I can’t deny despite the pain

  We never truly are alone

  So I prayed

  For your safe return

  Tonight

I’ll find a way this time won’t have to end

  And tonight

We’ll never have to say good-bye again

If I had just one more moment

I’d give to you my life

And I’d say I’ll love you always

  Forever and tonight

  Life’s Tragedy

Life’s tragedy is closing in on me

My mind is full of poverty

Why is it that our lives can be so empty

I know there’s so much more

  Because I’ve seen it before

The paths are endless that we may choose

Life’s meaning is so unclear these days

Is there a reason to get up anyway

  Well, there has to be

Because I’ve been getting up for years

What’s this enemy that I fear

Is it hiding deep inside my mind

Life’s tragedy is never knowing yourself

  Being full of doubt

Not really understanding what life is all about

And what’s the role you play

Life’s tragedy kills people every day

  Try Again

  After all of the seasons

  After all of the change

  After all of the tears

  After all of the pain

  After all of the love

  That just fades away

  I wonder why nothing remains

  After all of the loneliness

  After all the good-byes

  After all of the struggles

  After all of the lies

  After all of the distance

  As time passes by

What makes the broken heart try

  Again

The Way That I Love You

  You can’t begin to understand

The way that I love you

You’re as beautiful as the seasons

  As sweet as morning dew

Your smile lights up the heavens

  It turns my world around

And all the things that I have lost

With you, they have been found

You can’t begin to even know

How much I need you in my life

Like the springtime needs the sunshine

Like the darkness needs the night

  Your eyes are like reflections

Of a world that looks brand new

And I wish I could describe it

The way that I love you

But I know you need your freedom

There’s just no room for me

And I thought things could be different

  I guess I couldn’t see

That we move in opposite circles

We change more than the tides

And the morning hours seem so cold

  Without you by my side

But with me, you can’t find a future

And I would never hold you in chains

Still sometimes it’s so hard to believe

That we just don’t feel the same

For there were times we worked together

  And somehow we grew apart

But I never lost the feelings

That were buried in my heart

  Deep In Our Hearts

Is it deep in our hearts

  Where all answers lie

  I look at my past

  I see the future collide

If we can’t learn to live

  Can we at least coincide

  Deep in our hearts

  Our love will survive

Lonely hours lie before us now

  And I’m here wondering why

  Our love must fade away

The memories all escape my mind

As we try to fake a smile

When there’s nothing more to say

All the nights we spent out by the ocean

  Watching lights drift by

  And laughing in the wind

Now you say we’re just not right together

You want to slow it down

That we were never more than friends

  But I can’t believe it

  What were we holding onto

  Why are we letting go

When I look into your eyes, girl

I swear that you don’t know

  Love’s so far from perfection

In love, we learn to grow

  And regardless of the reasons

  I still love you so

  Deep in our hearts

  The truth always lies

  I look at your face

  I see the passions collide

If we can’t learn to live

  How can we coincide

  But deep in our hearts

  Our love will survive

  Just Friends

If I only had the words

  If you could only understand

I don’t want to push our relationship further

Don’t we have plenty on our hands

Still it’s nice to know there’s company

When you’re hurt or feeling down

  That’s what I think we’re all about

So we need to stick around

The love we share is different

  We’re together, but still apart

We keep a close, mutual trust

We tell secrets from the heart

So I was wrong for pushing further

I wish I knew a song that I could sing

I would tell you I as sorry

If I thought it would solve anything

Let’s not give up what we have

I never want to start again

Our relationship is special to me

That we can call each other friends

  Roses On The Table

  The roses on the table

Just a symbol of my love

Though I know that they can’t tell you

All the things I’m dreaming of…

  Now, I’m holding your hand

As we walk along the ocean

Can’t explain all of my emotions

Can’t imagine such a peaceful place

And I love to watch the breezes

  Blowing softly through your hair

To hear the whispers of the seashells

  And having you so near

How I’d love to sail across the waters

On a wave into your heart

To be the one who brings the laughter

  Across your shining face

And as the sun was slowly setting

You walked back to the car

  I knelt and wrote

“I love you” in the sand

Though the ocean took my words away

  And the roses slowly fade

The future calls to me each night

  And whispers out your name

  The roses on the table

Just a symbol of my love…

  A Poem To The President

  Live and let live

  That’s what they say

  But shouldn’t we stand strong

  Each and every day

When the whole world is watching

  The things that we do

  We all make mistakes

But it comes down to you

  We’re still a young
nation

  And yet, we’re so strong

  It’s from hard determination

  That helps us along

And we love all our neighbors

And we try to make friends

  We’ve sat in Geneva

  Again and again

  And all of the weapons

  Are man’s deadly tools

But if we threw them in the ocean

  Wouldn’t we be the fools

  Can’t they understand our view

We have to defend one another

  Be it daughter to sister

  Brother to brother

  And nobody’s perfect

  We all make mistakes

  The world knows our freedom

  The sacrifices we make

And the stars and the stripes

  They fill me with pride

I’m proud to be an American

  Let the bald eagle fly

  We seek no domination

  We just want to share

  In making the world safe

  Each and every where

  We feel people should choose

  The way that they live

  We’re not here to take

  We just want to give

  And still we’re advancing

  All the knowledge we store

  They call us blood thirsty

  But who ever wants war

  Sometimes I wonder

What’s going on in your head

  But I know freedom’s safe

  When I go to bed

  Rose Piano

  Rose piano

  Come play into my life

For you’re the only friend I have on these lonely nights

Your light, it feels so warm to me

Your light, it shines so bright

  My rose piano

  You are alright

  Sweet music

  Flows into my ear

Though you’re gone if the truth be known

I wish that you were here

Your love, it is my life to me

Your love, it makes me whole

  Rose piano

  Ease this weary soul

  Rose piano

So many faces I have known

But you’re the one who stands by me

  When I am alone

Your sound, it holds such memories

Your sound will make me pure

  My rose piano

  Your song endures

  Yes, rose piano

  Your song endures

Where Has All The Love Gone

Where has all the love gone

I thought we were so right

But now it seems I was all wrong

  I’m alone again tonight

What happened to the good times

  Where’s everything we had

Do we throw it all away right now

Did the good outweigh the bad

Where has all the joy gone

Where’s the beauty of it all

Can we ever walk hand in hand

Down these dark and hollow halls

Where did all our dreams go

  Can we ever try again

We seemed to grow so far apart

Why did it have to end

Where did all our hopes go

Do they lie behind the door

Now there is no looking back

  It’s different than before

What happens to our shattered lives

The night, it seems so long

  Maybe we will never know

Where has all the love gone

  Some Short Stuff

  A friend

Is like a mighty oak tree

  They do not break

  Because of a little wind

  Love is never wasted

  When given freely

  In self sacrifice

  For love is a gift

  We all are longing

  To receive

  Seek Jesus Christ

  With all your heart

  So that you may know

  Peace

  Hope

  Joy

And the glory of His salvation

  They say

  That it’s not possible

  To end hunger

  Fight poverty

  Stop war

  Promote tolerance

  To achieve world peace

  But then again

  They said

Jesus couldn’t raise from the dead

  So how much can

  They really know

  Farewell

Time’s whirlwind hold my soul again

Capture me when I’m all alone

This suffering seems my only friend

All the doors are locked at my home

Life’s fantasy once made me believe

That love exists high above the clouds

Gentle rain as it glides across the leaves

All I had is lost and can’t be found

I never thought you’d do this to me

Turn my life into a private hell

Told me lies, you sure could deceive

So my final words are farewell

  Love Of My Life

You are the love of my life

  And I’ll be here forever

  When tomorrow comes if ever

In the darkness, you’re my light

And you are the love of my life

  Words can’t describe the feeling

How you make my weary soul believing

How you always make it right

And I can’t bear the thought

Of one moment of the day

  Without you by my side

  Without you in my arms

Now let me whisper that I love you

It’s not hard for me to say

I want you by my side

I want you in my arms

You are the love of my life

And there’s a hundred thousand reasons

  Love’s an everchanging season

With words to numerous to write

You make the stars shine so bright

  And I’ll be here forever

  If tomorrow comes or never

You are the love of my life

  When I See You

  When I see you smile

  When I here your laughter

  For just a little while

  Sometimes I feel so sad

  When I see you cry

When I know I’ve just been dreaming

When I look in your eyes

To see all the beauty that is you

  When I’m in your arms

When I am by your side

Your touch so soft and warm

With you I fly so high

  When I hold your hand

When I gaze out from these mountains

To be part of life’s big plan

Is to have you here with me

When I’m longing for the spring

When I sail upon the ocean

Love is such a simple thing

  Whenever I’m with you

  I Prayed For You Today

  I prayed for you today

  Not in abstract generalities

  But rather directly by name

And I prayed that God would give you peace

And that He would guide you on your way

That His love would surround you

That He would never be parted from you

So His blessings might flow in abundance

All the days of your life

Yes, that is what I said

When I prayed for you today

I asked to be a friend

For the days that I might grace your life

So no matter where you journey

You would see God’s love in me

And I asked to be a shining light

  To give of myself completely

So in those times when you would need me

You would see God’s hope in me
r />   God answered that He loved you

And would hold you close to His heart

So that you would share His wonders

And bask in the glory of His ways

So I bowed my head in silence

And thanked Him for His new creation

Yes, that is what I said

When I prayed for you today

  I’ll Remember You

I’ll remember you when I’m on my own

  When I stand alone

And I’ll remember how you helped me make it

I’ll remember you when I need a friend

  Because I will again

And I’ll remember all the gifts you showed me

  I’m remember you when I say good-bye

  And how I’ll cry

But you’ll never see the tears I’m weeping

  All in vain

When time finally turned his wheel

  Now we’re just getting older

All the dreams we had are dust

We hardly seem to know each other anymore

  But does it matter anyway

You’re moving forward while I’m just looking back

Trying to turn the hands of time

  I’m just a hopeless dreamer

I’ll remember you and how I feel

  Because I know it’s real

And I’ll remember all the love you showed me

I’ll remember you when it’s cold outside

  And how I’ll hide

When I should have told you what I was thinking

  But as time goes by

  I’ll always remember you

  How Time Passes By

  Ain’t it funny

  How time passes by

  Ain’t it funny

  How time passes by

We always look to the mountains

And say that the good times

Are just on the other side

When they’re really before our eyes

  Ain’t it funny

  How time passes by

  Afterlife

  Does a journey begin

  Where everything ends

  Where do we go

  When the lifeblood runs dry

Do we know all the answers

  About this thing called death

Or do we keep on wondering why

  Who knows the truth

  Doctor or God

  Which one has the faith

  For the tunnel of light

  Should we move slowly

Or as fast as we can

As our souls begin to take flight

  And does so much depend
