“Excuse me,” I said to get his attention.

“Hello, is there something I can help you with?” he asked.

“Your name is Chris isn't it?” I asked.

“Yes. Christopher Jacobs. Do I know you from somewhere?” he asked.

“No. I don't believe we've ever met at least other than dreams,” I said.

“I think you're right, it would be hard to forget someone so beautiful. So can I get your name?” he asked.

  “I'm sorry, I'm Samantha Waters,” I said.

“Well Samantha it is a pleasure to meet you. I love the design on your nails, does it have a special meaning?” he asked.

“It represents the man I love,” I said.

  “You're married then?” he asked.

“No, I don't even have a boyfriend currently. The man is someone from dreams I've had since I was a little girl,” I said.

“So it's some mystery man that might not even exist?” he asked.

“He exists. I just haven't met him yet. Who knows maybe your him, unless you're married,” I said.

“I'm engaged and we are getting married in two weeks,” he said.

“I see, do you love her?” I asked.

“I think so. That's her there,” he said pointing to a woman across the court from us.

I looked where he was pointing and saw a woman who looked like entirely the wrong woman for this man, but knew my daughters weren't from my womb. Was it her womb they came from.

  “Her name's Irene isn't it?” I asked.

“You're full of surprises aren't you. Yes, her name is Irene,” he said.

“I don't supposed you would believe me if I told you you'll have two very beautiful daughters with her,” I said.

“So far I think I'd believe just about anything you told me,” he said.

“How about if I tell you their names? The oldest one will be Kathy and the youngest will be Nicole. They'll look more like you than their mother, but that is likely because of your magic,” I said.

He didn't refute me about having magic, and while I could feel his magic it wasn't like Kathy's magic. His magic felt more like a blood magic, a magic of life, a magic he would share only with one woman and Irene wasn't that woman, I was.

“I'm sorry to have bothered you Chris, I wish you all the best in your marriage. I'm sure your men will love having you mellowed by marriage,” I said.

Why did I say that? I didn't even know what it meant.

I turned and continued on toward the store I had been headed to when I saw Chris.
