Defending Zahrah Page 20

by Kendra Mei Chailyn

“Declan!” Zahrah screamed. She dragged her nails down his back.

He moaned. “I’m here.” He whispered.

Cyclops took great pleasure in riding Zahrah to another climax. Her channel tightened around him even as she arched upward to him. He kissed between her breasts, her soft skin covered with sweat.

  One position followed another.

One shattering orgasm raged through Zahrah’s body after another and Cyclops gritted his teeth, wanting to hold off coming. But Zahrah’s body was proving to be his weakness and after one final thrust, he pulled her into his chest, held onto her tightly and throw his head back. His orgasm roared from his lips. She reared up and bit one nipple then sucked the pain away. Cyclops trembled—he shook so hard, Zahrah had to hold on tighter. When he slumped on top of her, she kissed his head.

“I can’t let you go, Kitten.” His heart still raced like an out of control locomotive.

  “I don’t want you to.”

  “But when I go home…”

“Shhh.” She kissed his head again. “Let’s not think about that now. First, we rest, then tomorrow, we figure things out.”

Cyclops rolled to the side and tried scooping her into his harms. Instead, Zahrah removed the condom and dropped it into a nearby trashcan. It was only then did she cuddle into him. Cyclops couldn’t remember being that happy.

  I love you, Kitten.

  Epilogue

Darius hadn’t found what he was looking for in Mexico. And even though there was a party happening around him, he was sitting on a wall facing the ocean. Zahrah grabbed a beer and a can of soda from the cooler, excused herself from the conversation she’d been having with Caroline, Jessyka and Melody, and made her way over to sit beside Darius. She said nothing at first, merely handed him the beer and watched as he smiled and accepted it.

Still, she didn’t speak but opened her soda and sipped.

“Ever feel like a piece of you is missing?” Darius asked. “It’s not—I mean I’m whole. But one of my brothers is missing and there’s nothing I can do about it. We go to war and I’m responsible to make sure all my brothers come home.”

“Trust me, I get it.” Zahrah replied. “I had two brothers, remember.”

Darius nodded. “It hurts even more knowing he’s doing it on purpose. I just want to know he’s okay.”

“You’ll find him.” She encouraged. “You’ll find him and when you do, kick his ass.”

Darius chuckled and bowed his head. “Thanks, Sunshine.”

“Hey, look at the bright side,” she said.

“Bright side? I think I’m missing it.”

“You gained a sister.” She beamed proudly. “I know I’m not as badass as your Kraken, but I can hold my own. And…”

“There’s more?” Darius arched a brow.

“Of course!” She giggled. “And I’m cute.”

Darius laughed. He took another swallow from the beer while nodding. “And egotistic. But I like it.”

“We’ll keep looking.” She patted his back. “We’re going to find your Kraken.”

  “We?”

“Well, since you haven’t noticed, you’re stuck with me.” She explained. “I’m in love with your brother and I have no intention of going anywhere. With my store gone, I have to think about what I want to do with the rest of my life—so, right now I have a lot of time and money on my hands. So, say thank you, Sunshine, and after Declan and I come back from our weekend away, we get started.”

He shifted to stare at her. “You’re serious?”

“What is it Beast said back in Germany?” Zahrah cocked a hip and rested a hand on it.

“We take care of our own.”

Zahrah nodded. “That’s right. So, come on. Where’s that Samurai spirit?”

  “Okay—sister. We do this.”

Zahrah held up her pinky finger to him. He arched a brow at her.

“Oh, come on. I’m pretty sure you know how this work.” She wiggled the finger.

  “You’re serious?”

She merely wiggled her finger at him again. “Come on. Don’t have all day.”

“I have no idea what my brother did to deserve you.” Darius hooked one of his pinky fingers with hers. “But I’m sure glad he did.”

  Her cheeks flushed.

  “Thank you, Sunshine.”

  Zahrah hugged him. “You’re welcome—Ronin.”

She stared at him for a moment longer then scrambled off the wall and made her way back to the others. She stopped to have a talk with Wolf and Dude, brought Benny a beer then scooted into the empty chair beside Tex who was busy tapping away at a small laptop.

“Do you ever stop?” she asked.

“Sometimes.” He smirked at her. “But this is good—look at this.”

She leaned against his shoulder to peer at the screen. He had been staring at pictures of Barbie with a man and two children.

“These are my God kids.” Tex explained. “This beauty is Anya and this little cutie is Eden. They’ve been through hell but are thriving with Caleb and Barbie.”

“They’re beautiful.” Zahrah gushed. “And look at those dimples!”

“Right?’ Tex laughed. “Do you want kids, Zahrah?”

“Of course!” She replied immediately. “But…Declan and I haven’t really spoken about all that. I’m tentatively cautious right now.”

“Well, that’s a conversation you should have sooner rather than later, don’t you think?”

“Is that Barbie’s man?” Zahrah asked, wanting to change the subject.

  Tex nodded.

  “He’s pretty.” She giggled.

Tex laughed out loud. “So, tell me. When do I get to meet this brother of yours?”

“Farhad?” She asked. “He has a few things he needs to finish with father’s will. Though our inheritance has been handed out, he’s still working. Plus, he’s been through a breakup recently, so he’s not in the mood for company.”

  “Makes sense,” Tex said.

  “Hold on, don’t move.”

Tex arched a brow at her but nodded. Zahrah darted into the house and soon returned with a bag. When she extended it to Tex, he set the computer aside and accepted it. He said nothing while opening it and reaching in for the contents. He lifted a bottle of whiskey out and smiled.

“We weren’t sure what to get you,” Zahrah said. “Even this isn’t enough, but we wanted you to know we appreciate what you did for us. Declan told me you two were relative strangers. Even so, you rolled up your sleeves and dove in to help us anyway.”

“Ah, girl.” Tex hugged her. “Don’t you know once you’re good people with Ice, you’re good people with us? We help anyone who needs it but when it comes to family—well, you know?”

Zahrah smiled. “I can use all the family I can get right now.”’

  “Thank you.” He nodded.

She kissed his cheek and left him to go through the rest of the pictures Barbie had sent him. She left the party outside to find Declan standing at a back window, head lifted, eyes closed.

  “Declan?” She called softly.

  “Mmm.”

  “You okay?” She asked.

“Good.” He replied. “I thought my mom would be home by now, but she stopped in London to check in a friend who just had a stroke.”

“It wasn’t planned, sweetie. You’ll have her back soon.”

“I’m nervous about you meeting her. I’ve never taken a woman home to her before.”

  Zahrah’s eyes widened. “Never?”

“No. I always thought if I brought someone home, she had to mean something to me—something serious.”

She rested her forehead on his back as her heart fluttered inside her. He said nothing until she stepped away. “We’ll just have to wait a little longer.”

“I can wait.” Zahrah rested a palm to his back and stood by his side. “What are your thoughts on children?”

  “Want them.”

  “Good—because I wo
uld like to be a mother.” Zahrah let her hand fall. “I need you to be sure.”

“I love you, Zahrah. Fathering your children is a no-brainer.”

  “Wait…what?”

Declan opened his eyes and a turned to look at her. “What, what?”

“Did you just say you love me? You’ve never said that before.”

He smiled. “There are a few things I needed to get straight in my head.” He lifted the dragonfly pendant off her chest and fingered the diamonds. “I wonder if you can ever forgive me for the things I’ve done.”

“Are we talking about what happened when you were a doctor?” Zahrah held his biceps. “I thought we already discussed that.”

He shook his head. “That—and a whole slew of other things. I’m not perfect, Kitten. I’ve done things….”

“I’m not perfect either.” She picked the pendant from his hand and allowed it to fall back to her chest. Zahrah stepped closer and looked up into his worried brown eyes. “You have been a tower of strength for me. I don’t think I would have been able to stand up to Hadeel and Gulzar if you didn’t prove to me how strong I could be.”

“It was always inside you, Kitten.”

She smiled. “See? You believe in me like no on else has. You are my dragon, my Cyclops.”

“I don’t see it that way.” He framed her face. “You’ve always stood with dignity and strength. I respect that in you. And then there are the ways you look at me—like you believe I’m Superman.”

“Superman?” She shook her head. “You’re better. You’re Cyclops.”

He smiled. “Can we make a deal?”

  “Sure.”

“How about we leave the past where it belongs and focus on what’s ahead?”

She smiled. “Before we make that deal, I have to talk to you about something that happened earlier. I promised Darius we’ll help him find Kraken.”

“He should already know we wouldn’t leave him to do that alone. Kraken is one of us.”

“I think he believed I would stop you from…helping.” Zahrah sighed. “I want all your brothers to be safe, darling. I know you’re one of the best people to help with that. I would never get in the middle of it all. Sure, I’ll be worried about you, but I know your heart.”

Declan kissed her then, deeply. She moaned under his tender assault and though she wished for it to continue, Zahrah pulled her head back.

“For the record, Declan Stone, I love you too.”

The smile he gave her just about swallowed his face. “Tonight, when we’re alone and I strip you naked, Kitten, I want you to say those words again.”

“Tell me why.” She breathed against his lips.

“Because they fill my heart and turn me on.”

  She moaned.

“I was worried about your appetite, Zahrah.” Declan confessed. “Even before you told me about Gulzar. I thought you would be….”

  “A prude?”

  He nodded. “Honestly, yes.”

“Just because I wear the hijab, Cyclops, doesn’t mean my sexuality doesn’t exist.” She explained. “I chose to wear the headscarf when I was a teenager because I wanted something kept to myself. I’m still a woman with desires. The only issue was, I hadn’t found a man I was comfortable sharing those desires with.”

  “You’ve chosen me.”

  She nodded. “I have.”

“And that makes me the luckiest man alive, Kitten.”

“Now, kiss me.” She sighed, leaning in. “Because we have guests. But once they leave, I’m all yours.”

A rumble escaped Declan’s chest as he kissed her again.

...And Zahrah couldn’t remember ever feeling so desired, so in love. The best part of the whole thing, the thought to make the moment even hotter was Declan loved her too. Though he refused to see it, his love made her strong and she felt as though she could conquer anything. She melted into his chest to return his kiss with the same vigour as he offered while Dude called their names from somewhere in the distance.
