The Story of Killian & Liri (Cruel Love Book 1) Page 25

by Glenna Maynard

  “Shut up.”

“Why? Does the truth heart, Liri?”

“Why are you acting this way?”

“I had it good with Liam until you came along. If Killian hadn’t opened his fat mouth, I would still be with him.”

“I can’t control what Killian does any more than anyone else can and as far as Liam goes it was his choice to end things when he found out what a liar you were.”

“I feel sorry for you. When Killian gets tired of you and how pathetic and dorky you are you won’t have anyone to turn to.” She shoots me a bitchy smile and leaves.

“What a bitch,” I utter to myself. So much for family.

I grab my tray and dump it. As I am going out the door I bump into Hunter. Geez. What is with today?

  “Hey, how are you?”

  “Never better,” I answer, dryly.

“Listen, I’m sorry for everything. I should have told you that your mom was pushing for us to date.”

“It’s okay. I’m happy with Killian.”

  “You don’t look happy.”

“I just had a fight with Hayley. It’s nothing.”

“I am still your friend. If you ever need to talk just text or call. I promise no showing up wherever you are like a stalker or trying to piss your boyfriend off. I get it now. I never stood a chance.”

“Thanks, Hunter. I appreciate the sentiment. I should get going.”

“I’ll see you around,” he calls out after me.

Outside the cafeteria I find my boyfriend scowling and smoking a cigarette. “That’s unattractive.”

“So is you talking to that prick.”

“Hunter was apologizing for being weird and said he wouldn’t bother me ever again. He knows I’m madly in love with you.”

“Good.” He flicks his cigarette to the ground and snuffs it out before popping grape gum into his mouth.

  “Did you get Ben sorted.”

“Yeah. He’s going to race tonight. I told him I’d come. You’re coming too.”

I stop in my tracks. “Are you racing also?”

He shrugs. “Probably not but for the right price, maybe.”

“You aren’t betting my ass,” I warn.

“I would never.” He slaps a palm to his chest and stumbles backward.

Snowflakes start to fall on our heads. Not enough to worry about though, but I mention it anyway.

“Should Ben be racing if it is snowing?”

“Ground isn’t cold enough. It won’t stick. It will melt long before tonight. You got a thing for Ben now? Should I be concerned that you are worried for his wellbeing?” he grins at me.

“You never know. A little competition might serve you right.” I laugh at the murderous expression he shoots my way. “I love you. No one else.”

“How much do you love me?”

“About this much.” I hold my thumb and finger about an inch apart.

“Evil woman. You’re so mean to me.”

“Speaking of evil and mean. I had an encounter with Hayley.”

His brows raise. “She was mean to you?”

“Oh yeah. Told me mean things about my mother and said I would be all alone when you grow bored with me.”

“That will never happen in a million years.” Killian grabs my hips and holds me still. “Look at me.” I meet his gaze. “I love you so much. I’d do anything to keep you. Anything.” The way he says anything sounds almost desperate. I don’t like the way it makes me feel.

  Chapter 47

  Liri

“What time do we need to leave by?”

“Seven,” Killian replies staring down at his phone and texting.

“I don’t want to be out too late. I’m going with Noelle in the morning to look for her dress and I work at noon.” I lean forward against the bathroom sink to apply my mascara.

  “Uh huh,” he mutters.

“Are you even listening to me.”

  “Yeah. Whatever you want.”

I drop the tube of mascara back in my makeup bag and sigh. “What’s got you so wrapped up in your phone?”

  “Sorry. It’s my brother.”

“Dillan?” I look at him perplexed.

“Yeah. We do talk. Not like you and your butt buddy Noelle, but we are planning his bachelor party.” I roll my eyes.

  “What’s with that face?”

“Nothing. I can only imagine the debauchery you two will take part in. Bet you have a stack of dollar bills already for the strippers.”

“No strippers. It was supposed to be a surprise but since you are a ball buster. The four of us are going away for a weekend to Las Vegas the day after Christmas.”

“Shut up. Are you serious?” I smack at him and he drops his phone on the rug.

“So violent.” He bends down to grab his phone but slides his hand up my thigh and in my shorts. I run my fingers through his unruly dark brown hair.

  “I have to get ready.”

“Want to impress Ben, do you?” he sucks his bottom lip inward then jerks my shorts down.

“Killian,” I squeal but my protest dies when he slips a finger inside my panties.

“Don’t try to deny me, Liri. We both know I always get my way.”

“Oh.” I gasp as he adds a second finger. I grip the counter and rock my hips, biting my bottom lip.

“God, that’s sexy.” He stares up at me with desire and love.

“Don’t stop,” I demand and tug on his hair, bringing his mouth where I want him most.

His cool lips meet my warm skin. Killian flattens his tongue against me and licks. My legs tremble at the sensation. This boy does crazy things to me. “Spread wider, baby.” He forces my legs further apart continuing his loving assault on my body. Working his fingers in pace with his tongue Killian brings me to orgasm in record time. He grins up at me then licks his lips. “Sweet like candy.”

  I blush.

“Don’t get shy on me now. Turn around.”

I do as he says. He moves behind me, gripping my hips with bruising force and drives into me. One hand cups my jaw. “Open your eyes. See how good we fit.”

I stare at our reflection as heat spreads through me burning me from the inside out as he thrusts inside me. I’m panting unable to hear anything but the slapping sound our bodies make each time they connect. Killian shoves a finger in my mouth, and I suck on it, grazing my teeth along the thick digit.

“I’m going to come,” his voice rasps seductively in my ear. “So close,” he grunts, slamming into me faster and harder. “Eyes on mine,” he orders, and I meet his darkened gaze. His eyes are nearly as dark as night. A shudder moves through him and he twitches inside me. His head falls to my shoulder and he lets out a heavy breath. The warmth of his essence runs down my leg.

Killian moves to wet a washcloth. He drops down to wipe my inner thigh but stops.

“What is it?” He has this weird amused expression on his face.

“Nothing. It’s just do you realize how fucking hot it is to see you all dirty with my come?” His finger runs up my thigh through the slick fluid and he pushes back inside me.

  “Killian,” I gasp then moan.

“You love it, don’t you?” His lips lift into a broad grin. “Tell me you love it.” His finger hooks inside me. “I want to hear how much it excites you.”

“I think you know,” I tell him as flames lick up my neck. My eyes roll back when he kisses my stomach and pinches a nipple with his other hand. My lips part as I pant.

“I want you filthy and smelling of nothing but me tonight.”

I don’t know what has gotten into him, but I love his possessive nature.

  **

“Do you know this Cassidy girl Ben is dating?” I ask while we wait for them to pick us up. Killian didn’t tell me this was a double date until about five minutes ago.

“Never met her. I think he said he met her at a game.”

  “He plays football, right?”

“Yup.” Killian takes a drink o
f his beer. I don’t mention the drinking since he won’t be driving, but I haven’t seen him drink since his father’s birthday party. That night didn’t end well for any of us. One good thing did come from it though. Killian managed to repair his relationship with his father, and he is working hard on getting to a good place with his brother.

Ben and his date arrive. Cassidy has sandy brown hair with blonde highlights. She’s short like me and her and Ben keep staring at each other. It’s cute. They are practically eye fucking.

Killian is being attentive and sweet. Holding my hand and opening the car and restaurant doors. We are back at Donali’s. We haven’t been back since my attempt to get Hayley and Liam back together blew-up in my face. I don’t see anyone we know, and I am grateful. I want a nice night out with my boyfriend. I hate the drama that always seems to follow his old group of friends anytime we are around them, but Ben seems chill, and he hasn’t mentioned anyone from their old clusterfuck group of misfits.

Killian order another beer and some wings. I get a sub sandwich and fries with a soda. Cassidy attends community college but is hoping to transfer to Crestwood next year. She seems like someone I could possibly be friends with. I could use a new friend. I don’t see things with Hayley ever being repaired. Too much has happened. I don’t even know if I would want to be friends with her again after our last encounter.

We’re leaving the pizza place to drive out to the clearing for Ben’s race when we bump into Porter. Him and Killian exchange one of those stupid handshakes that all dudes seem to know.

“You guys coming by the house later?”

Please say no. Please say no.

“Sure. Why not,” Killian says, and I wonder if I could get away with claiming to feel bad after the race to get out of going. I don’t want to go back to that stupid house. Nothing but trouble ever comes from it. Jackie and Hayley will probably be there ready to pounce and make my night hell.

  Chapter 48

  Liri

We arrive at the clearing and we all exit the car. There’s two races ahead of Ben. There aren’t a lot of cars around. It’s cold and I’m shivering into Killian’s side. “I should have drove so you could wait in the car. I’m sorry.”

  “It’s fine.”

He steps away to talk to Rusty and comes back with a bottle of Jack Daniels. “Few sips of this will help.” He presses the bottle to my lips. I hand it to Cassidy, and she takes a few sips followed by Ben then it goes back to Killian. It does make me feel a little better. We watch the first race and I don’t see any girls riding as passengers.

“They only racing for gas tonight?” I ask Killian.

“Do they race for anything else?” Cassidy remarks, and I bite my tongue when Killian gives me a warning look.

The next two cars line up and Killian and Ben go over to this car. He has a Hellcat. It’s bad ass but I am still partial to my man’s Mustang. Killian lifts the hood and Rusty wanders over to them leaving me own my own with Cassidy.

“What did you mean only gas?”

“Some guys bet gas or ass,” I tell her.

“Oh. I see. Well Ben is crazy if he thinks I will screw someone he loses a bet too.” I like her sass.

“I don’t think you need to worry about that. I think Ben really likes you.”

  “You do?”

“Yeah. He can’t take his eyes off you. Don’t look but he is looking at you now, and I bet he is wondering if you are telling me if you like him or not.”

“We’ve been talking for about a month through text and phone calls. I don’t normally go for jocks but he’s nice. I’ve never been to a frat party. What’s it like?”

“Mostly drunken idiots making fools of themselves. You aren’t missing anything.”

  We both laugh.

“What’s so funny?” Killian asks as he approaches us.

“Nothing. It’s girl talk.” I loop my arm though his and we move to get a better view of Ben’s race.

Ben lines up next to a Dodge Charger. Both cars are revving their engines. Excitement filters through me. There is something sexy and erotic about hot guys and fast cars. The same redhead who was here when I was Killian’s racing buddy steps up in front of the cars and shimmies her hips. Cassidy rolls her eyes and I giggle.

The girl drops her white shirt and Ben shoots off. Cassidy grips my hand, digging little crescent shapes from her nails into my skin.

“He’s got this,” I tell her.

  “How do you know?”

“Because Ben’s car is faster,” Killian answers.

Like he says Ben is faster and he reaches the clearing about a minute and a half faster than the other guy. Money is exchanged and I look away when Cassidy gives Ben his victory kiss.

We all get back in the car and head to the last place I want to be—the frat house.

Cars are lined up and down the block. More than I have ever saw before. My stomach lurches. I don’t want to be here.

“You okay?” Killian stops me and Ben and Cassidy go on without us.

“I hate these things. I don’t want to deal with Jackie or Hayley.”

“You’ll be fine. Nothing they say or do will change what we have.” I want to believe him but every single time we get to a good place someone or something comes along to mess it all up. “If we see them, we will just hang out somewhere else.”

“Okay,” I agree, but this bad feeling keeps creeping up and taking up way too much space in my head.

“C’mere.” His arms go around me, and his lips meet mine. “I love you so much, Liri. I love you so much that it hurts.”

  “Killian…”

He kiss me again and takes my hand.

We walk into the party. People are standing elbow to elbow. It’s hot and smells of liquor and sweat. Ben and Cassidy are in the kitchen getting drinks and Killian tells them we will meet them in the basement where it is less crowded. It is less crowded, but it also happens to be where everyone I don’t want to be around is hanging out. Liam shoots Killian a dirty look but I don’t think he even notices him glaring at us from the other side of the room.

Jackie is seated between Porter and Woodrow and Hayley is on the other side of him.

I sit in Killian’s lap on the loveseat and Ben and Cassidy sit next to us.

The mood is tense and quiet.

“Let’s play truth or dare,” Jackie says and one by one the group agrees except for Killian and me. I’m not playing any of their dumb games.

They all move to a circle in the floor. I slide over to where Ben was sitting and lay my head on Killian’s shoulder. I want to go home, but it doesn’t appear like we will be leaving anytime soon.

My boyfriend is on his third beer and the game is boring at best. They are doing stupid stuff like Ben dared Jackie to flash everyone her boobs. Woodrow was dared to piss in the corner of the room. Cassidy was asked if she likes Ben to which she said she did. A weird vibe settles over me, and I look over and see Liam stumbling toward us.

“Truth or dare, asshole?” Liam’s gaze is set on Killian.

  Killian leers at him. “Dare.”

“I dare you to race me for Liri.”

  “What’d you just say?”

“You heard me. One race. You and me. You win you keep your girl. I win I make us even when I fuck her.”

The room falls silent and I gasp.

“I’m not betting my girlfriend. You need to let this shit go.”

Liam laughs. “Afraid you’ll lose, and she’ll leave you. I can’t believe you are still even with this guy. He fucked your best friend.”

  My heart drops.

“Shut up, Liam,” Killian growls and Hayley smiles so sickly sweet at me I can’t breathe.

  “What’s he talking about?”

“You didn’t tell her?” Liam laughs harder.

“Let’s go, Liri.” Killian jerks me up to my feet.

“Wait. I want to know what he means.”

“He’s only trying to piss you off to get back at
me.”

“Back at you for what? You told me you made out with her once in high school.” Killian’s face falls, and I look to Hayley who is loving the scene. “Truth or dare, Hayley?”

She winks at Jackie and I want to vomit. “Truth.”

“Is it true that you fucked Killian?”

“It’s true. We slept together after prom and then he dumped he.”

“Killian?” My chest feels like my heart will explode right out of it.

  “Liri…I.”

“You what?! You lied to me. I asked you and you swore to me.”

“Because I knew you’d leave me!” he grabs hold of my wrist. “Let’s just go somewhere. You and me. We can talk about this. I love you and you love me.” He sounds desperate to believe his own lies.

“You don’t love me, Killian. Lying to me. That’s not love.” I jerk out of his grasp and turn to Ben. “Can you and Cassidy take me home?”

“You do and you’re a dead man,” Killian seethes. “Liri, let’s go talk. Outside. You and me. Please.”

“I can’t listen to anymore lies, Killian. I can’t do it.” My pulse is hammering in my ears. I need to get away from here. Away from him. Jackie and Hayley are laughing at me. All I can hear is their laughter and all I see is Killian’s dark but destroyed gaze.

He goes to his knees. “I’m begging you.”

“I need to get out of here.”

“I’ll take you,” Liam steps forward.

Killian lunges up at him and clocks him between the eyes.

The two of them start fighting and I turn away from the scene and go up the stairs.

Outside I pull out my phone from my jacket pocket. I dial the only person I know who will be close enough to come.

  “Hello.”

“Did you mean what you said. That you’re my friend?”

  “What’s wrong, Liri?”

“I’m walking down the street by the frat house can you give me a ride?”

  “I’ll be right there.”

I end the call and move to the opposite end of the street from where Ben parked. If I know Killian at all he will come looking for me. I know I should hear him out but right now I don’t have it in me. The universe is set on breaking us up. No one wants us together but us and maybe his family. If we do breakup I am going to miss working with Noelle and hanging out with her and the girls. I feel like they have become my family too in the time that I have known them.
