Between Frames (The City Between Book 4) Page 23

by W. R. Gingell

No wonder Morgana looked like a goth princess most of the time. She’d probably caught it from the house as much as from her nightmare.

She was waiting for us when we came through the door

“There you are!” she said, bouncing a little. “You got here ages ago! What were you two talking about down there?”

“Hi,” I said, short and awkward because I couldn’t answer the question.

“Did something happen at the police station? How come your partner didn’t come up? I saw him as well—he stood in the doorway for a long time.”

Daniel’s eyes fixed on me, more yellow than brown, anxious and warning at the same time.

I took in a breath and let it out. Then I said, “There’s some stuff I gotta tell you.”
