Healing Chay

She made her way down the hallway of the community center, a huge smile spreading over her face when she met her parents. She kissed both her mother and her father.
“You look beautiful.” Love beamed from her father’s gaze as he asked, “Are you ready?”
Tori nodded, too emotional to speak.
Clearly her mother was choked up, too, so rather than say a word the woman simply handed her daughter a small spray of colorful wildflowers.
Flanked by her loving parents, Tori held her head high as she entered the large domed arena. A hush fell over the crowd, the only sound the intense beating of the drums.
Grayson wore his full ceremonial regalia, complete with an elaborate headdress covered with eagle feathers.
Then Tori saw him.
Chay.
Her heart pounded more fiercely than the rhythm of the drums, her blood churning with excitement. She couldn’t believe she would soon be Mrs. Chay Makwa.
He looked so handsome. His sleeveless, tan-colored tunic drew attention to his muscular arms. Fringed leggings hugged his powerful thighs. His long hair hung loose, and a strip of colorful, hand-woven fabric was tied around his head.
But it was his gaze that stole her breath away. Those midnight eyes of his communicated the delicious promise of all the passion he intended to shower on her… soon. Very soon.
The love that filled her heart was reflected in her smile as she went to exchange vows with the love of her life.
Later that night, with their clothing tossed hither and yon, with the last vestiges of romantic candlelight flickering and sputtering in the darkness, they lay together, bare skin to bare skin. Chay raised himself up on one elbow, his face only inches from hers. He kissed the tip of her nose, his fingers tracing down the length of her throat, over the delicate curve of her shoulder.
“Are you sorry we didn’t go someplace exotic for our honeymoon?” he asked. “Bermuda? Cancun?”
She shook her head, her white-gold hair spread about her. “There’s no place more beautiful than New England in the winter.”
“But it’s cold.”
The chuckle that bubbled from her throat couldn’t be described as anything but provocative. “It’s also the perfect excuse for us to stay right here… under the covers.”
Chay’s grin was sexy. “There is that.”
His kiss left her breathless, his low growl made her giggle.
Then she sobered. “Chay, do you really believe we were made for each other? That we’re truly soul mates?”
“With all my heart I do,” he said.
Then he set about proving it to her.

A Note From The Author
Dear Reader,
Although I have never been plagued by nightmares, I have been affected by unforgettable childhood trauma. I think many people have. It would take someone special to help Chay heal—and I felt Tori was just the right person for the job. The fact that she turned her own suffering, having lost her sister so tragically, into the positive action of helping abused women proved to me that Tori was the perfect woman to help Chay. I think it’s lovely that their attraction turned into love.
I hope you enjoyed Healing Chay. If you did, please consider leaving a short review. And please tell a friend! Nothing helps an author more than word-of-mouth recommendations.
The Black Bear Brothers series has 2 more books:
Mat’s story: An Honorable Man, Book 1
Dakota’s story: Woman of His Heart, Book 2
Both books are available as e-books and as paperbacks. I’d be honored if you would look for them.
All my best,
Donna Fasano
