“I know and I’m sorry for calling you. I don’t even know why I did it,” she said.

“Next time you call me for something sex related, just make sure you’re single, okay?” I said, trying for a smile.

“Okay. Thank you, Bodie, for not being an ass about this. You really shouldn’t even want to talk to me but now you’re making jokes.”

I let her think I was joking about the sex, but if she ever broke up with Anthony, I was going to be all over her.

  “So,” she said, “what now?”

“I guess we go back to being friends and try to put this behind us. Okay?”

“Yes, that’s more than okay. Now about that Spanish homework?”

“You know we don’t have any,” I said.

“I know, so how about I take you out to eat to try and make up for my assery.”

Despite myself I chuckled. “Assery, huh?”

“Yep. Come on, let’s go. My treat.”

I really should have said no, but I never seemed to make the best decisions when it came to Karma, so of course I agreed.

We went to a Mexican restaurant so I could “practice my Spanish.” She would laugh at the way I said things and then correct me. I was surprised that we were able to act so normally after everything that happened.

“I’m glad we’re still friends,” Karma said, when I walked her back to her dorm. “You know I’m going to have to tell Kayleigh about this right?”

“Yeah, but to be fair Major already knows what happened, well, not your part of it but mine.”

  She gave me a look.

“What was I supposed to do? I felt guilty, like I’d taken advantage of you or something. I needed to talk to someone, and I knew Major wouldn’t tell anyone, even Kayleigh.”

“Okay, I get it. Are you going to tell him this part too?” she asked.

“That’s up to you,” I said.

“You might as well tell him,” she said. “Because after I tell Kayleigh she’s going to say something to him.”

“Fair enough,” I said. “Well, good night, Karma. See you tomorrow.”

I waited until she was safely inside and walked back to my dorm. I was surprised when I saw Major watching TV.

“Hey,” I said. “I thought you’d be with Kayleigh.”

“We need to talk,” he said.

  “About what?”

“What the fuck was wrong with you today?”

  “Karma.”

  “Huh?”

“Karma lied to me about remembering us having sex.”

  “What? Really?”

  “Yeah, really.”

  “How did you find out?”

“She called me Friday and said she couldn’t sleep. She asked me to talk dirty to her so she could get off and that would help her.”

“Tell me you said no,” Major said.

“You know I can’t seem to say no to her, so I did as she asked.” Major shook his head at me. “Anyway, while I was talking to her, she let something slip that made me realize she remembered everything from that night. I confronted her tonight and she told me everything. Then she bought me dinner to apologize.”

“I don’t even know what to say to that,” he said. “There are so many things wrong with everything you just told me.”

“Once she explained why she lied, the reason she did it actually made sense. It was probably for the best anyway.”

  “So, why did she lie?”

“Remember when I told you it was the best sex I’d ever had and I just felt like more, well I guess she felt the same thing. So, in order to protect herself and our friendship she said she didn’t remember anything that happened.”

“So, let me get this straight,” Major said. “It was the best sex either of you had, you both had some kind of connection but neither of you wants a relationship with the other?”

“When you put it that way it sounds stupid.”

“That’s because it is. You two are just the fucking same. You’re miserable because you want to be with her and she’s with an asshole that’s using her. Yep, you two were made for each other.”

“First of all, I’m not miserable without her, she was never mine to have. And I don’t do relationships. Second, it’s her choice to be with whoever she wants to be with, even if it’s with a douchebag.”

“You are such a fucking idiot,” Major said, shaking his head. “What you and Karma have right now is a relationship, just not a romantic one. And this thing with you and Tiffany is the same.”

I was about to argue with him when I realized he was right. “Fuck, I hate it when you’re right,” I told him.

Major laughed. “Sorry, bro, but I think you’re going to have to figure out how you really feel about Karma. Do you just want to have sex with her again or is it something more? When you figure that out, you’ll know what to do.”

With those words Major went back to watching TV, leaving me with a lot to think about.

  Chapter 22

  Karma

When I got back to the dorm, I was glad to see Kayleigh was alone. It was time I came clean about me and Bodie.

“Hey,” I said, joining her on the couch.

  “What’s up?”

“I need to talk to you.”

  “Is everything okay?”

“Yeah, better now,” I said. Then told her everything that happened with Bodie from the sex to the talk today.

“I knew it,” she said smiling. “And that explains a lot about Bodie today. Was he really mad at you?”

“At first, I think he was, but then by the time I finished talking he seemed to get why I did it.”

“Sometimes I don’t know what to do with you,” Kayleigh said, shaking her head.

“But you still love me,” I said.

“You know I do. So, I have to ask, why are you with Anthony when it seems like you really like Bodie?”

“It would never work out between me and Bodie. We’re way too much alike. Actually, we’re kind of like the male and female version of the same person. We’re better off as friends.”

“He’s seemed different to me since we got back from Christmas break,” she said.

“I guess,” I said. “We’re getting along better.”

“I don’t think he’s the player he was when he got to college.”

I snorted. “But he’s still a player and I’m not sure he’s the type to ever settle down.”

  “What about Tiffany?” she asked.

  “What about her?”

“They seem to be friends without sex. Did you ever think Bodie was capable of that?”

“No, but we don’t know for sure they’re not having sex,” I said.

She rolled her eyes at me. “Whatever Karma. Let’s just agree to disagree about Bodie for now.”

“Okay. So, what do you want to watch?” I asked, and grabbed the remote.

By Wednesday afternoon, I was all caught up on my homework and ready for practice. I’d basically told Anthony I needed time to focus on school and he gave it to me with no questions asked. I thought he deserved some kind of reward for that, so I sent him a quick text.

Me: I think you should pick me up after practice and we can have wild monkey sex

Anthony: Fuck Karma, you made me choke on my coffee

  Me: Sorry?

Anthony: Definitely don’t be sorry for that. Just wasn’t expecting it.

Me: So, is that a yes?

Anthony: Of course, it’s a yes. I’ll be waiting when you’re done.

I was grinning when I walked out of my bedroom and Kayleigh handed me a smoothie.

“What’s got that look on your face?” she asked. “Or do I want to know?”

“I just texted Anthony and told him to pick me up after practice so we could have wild monkey sex. He said it made him choke on his coffee.”

“That’s actually funny. So, I’m guessing you won’t be home tonight?”

  “Nope.”

  “Okay. L
et’s get going.”

Since we had a competition in three days, I had to make sure my head was focused on diving and not sex, which was harder than it sounded. Coach Everett pushed us hard, but I knew it would pay off. We were closing in on being number one in points.

I showered and changed in record time. I yelled bye to Kayleigh and left the locker room. Anthony was there waiting for me.

“Hey,” he said. “Are you ready?”

  “I’m so ready,” I said.

“Are you hungry?” he asked me.

“Yes, but sex first, then food.”

I think he growled a little because he started walking faster to the parking lot.

“Where’s your car?” I asked, when he stopped outside of a silver SUV.

“At home. I thought this was more appropriate for the situation. Get in,” he said, and opened the back door.

“I like the way you think,” I said as I slid in.

He was right behind me and in seconds I was pinned to the seat with his lips devouring mine.

“I’ve been so hot for you since you sent me that text. You’re such a naughty girl, Karma.”

He slid my shirt up, then my bra, until his mouth was on my nipple.

“Oh, that feels good,” I said, pinching my other nipple.

“Fuck,” he said, “you’re such a dirty girl.”

“More, I need more, Anthony. I want your dick in me.”

“Jesus, Karma. If you keep talking like that I’ll come before I even get my pants undone.”

“You’d better hurry up then. I’m wet and ready for you.”

“Fuck,” he muttered, and moved far enough back that he could get his jeans undone.

I took that opportunity to push my yoga pants to my knees.

“No panties,” Anthony said, as he put a condom on. “I approve.”

“Stop talking and start fucking,” I said.

He didn’t say another word and entered me in one quick move. We both moaned. Then Anthony really started moving. It was hard and fast and exactly what I wanted. Before I knew it, I was coming and yelling his name. Seconds after I came, so did he, and he wasn’t quiet either. After I caught my breath I started giggling.

  “What’s so funny?” Anthony asked.

“If anyone was close to us, they certainly would have heard us.”

He smiled. “Good thing these windows are heavily tinted.”

That made me giggle harder, then my stomach growled.

“I think I better feed you. You okay with takeout?”

  “Sounds good to me.”

Anthony made a quick call and placed an order for Chinese food while I got redressed. A few minutes later, we were in the front seats and headed to pick up the food.

  Bodie

I was glad when Friday afternoon came. For some reason, I just hadn’t been into my classes that week and I was blaming it all on Karma. I couldn’t get what she said about the sex being more for her out of my head. It was messing with me and I didn’t like it.

The girls had a competition tomorrow, so I knew Major would be at the dorm tonight. I wasn’t sure what the guys had planned and honestly, I wasn’t sure what I felt like doing.

“Hey,” I said to Major, when I walked into the dorm.

  “Hey.”

“The girls have that team thing, tonight right?”

“Yeah. What do you have planned?”

  “Nothing.”

“Me either,” he said, then laughed. “When did we become old men?”

That actually made me laugh. “How about an old-fashioned all-night video game tournament?” I suggested.

“Dude, we haven’t don’t that since high school,” Major said with a smile. “Call the boys and see what they’re up to.”

Chad and Zach were headed to a party but decided to join us. I think we all needed a male bonding night.

Within the hour, we were talking shit, making stupid bets and having a blast. Around ten, we took a break, and I checked my phone. There was a text from Tiffany.

Tiffany: Are you going to watch Kayleigh and Karma compete tomorrow?

  Me: I don’t know. Why?

Tiffany: If you were, I was wondering if you could pick me up. I’ve never seen them, and I’d like to.

Me: Sure. It starts at noon, so I’ll be there at 11 to pick you up. We can grab a bite to eat first.

  Tiffany: Great. See you tomorrow.

“Who was that?” Chad asked me.

“It’s none of your business you nosy bastard, but it was Tiffany. She asked if I’d pick her up so she can see the girls at the meet tomorrow.”

  “So, you’re going?” Major asked.

“Yeah, looks like it,” I said.

“You are so whipped,” Chad said.

“She’s not my girlfriend asshole. We’re just friends, and friends help each other out. She has the day off and she’s never been to a swim meet before, so she wanted to see the girls compete. Unlike your lazy ass, she has a job and goes to school full time.”

“I just realized something,” Zach said, “All the girls you two know are pretty badass. They all go to school full time and work their asses off. I think I need to hang around you two more often.”

Major chuckled and I just shook my head. We got back to the video games and tried to kick each other’s asses.

It had been after 4am when I went to bed so when my alarm went off at ten, I groaned. I dragged myself out of bed and took a shower. After I got dressed, I made a coffee. I had a few minutes until I had to leave so I texted Karma.

Me: Good luck today. Tiffany and I will be there to cheer you on.

Karma: Yay! And thank you. I’ll see you guys after!

I finished my coffee and left to go pick up Tiffany. She was waiting on the sidewalk when I got there.

“Hey,” she said, with a smile when she got in the car.

“You seem to be in a good mood.”

“I am. I got a good grade on that paper I was working on; I get to see new friends compete and a cute guy is taking me for breakfast.”

I laughed. “I guess those are good reasons to be in a good mood.”

We chatted all the way to my favorite diner. We both ordered breakfast and as usual the food was great. Major had texted me that he was saving us seats so when we got there, I found him and took our seats.

“I’m excited,” Tiffany said. “I’m surprised at how many people are here. Have you been to many, Bodie?”

“This is my first full one actually.” She gave me a look. “What?”

“I thought you were friends with Karma.”

  “I am.”

“And you haven’t been here to support her?”

“I … uh … well … I guess I don’t know what to say to that. But I’ve seen her dive before though.”

Tiffany laughed. “I’m just giving you a hard time.”

That made Major laugh. I gave both of them a dirty look. “Fuck both of you,” I said, but I was fighting a smile.

A few minutes later, it was time for the competition to start. No one cheered louder than we did when the Bay State teams were announced. I saw the girl’s wave at us, and Tiffany had a huge grin on her face. I always found it funny when she got so excited about doing new things.

When they got started, I was surprised at how interested I was in watching them. Before I knew it, two hours had passed. We were ahead in points and the entire pool was filled with excitement. Every time Karma climbed the platform to dive, I felt a sense of pride. She was really good, and I could tell she loved it.

Just as they were announcing the final points of the meet, I saw Anthony slink in and take a seat.

“Look who just showed up,” I said to Major, and nodded to where Anthony was.

“Nice,” he said, and shook his head.

They announced that Bay State won the meet and the whole place erupted in a loud cheer. I was surprised how happy I was for Karma.

  “Are you two goi
ng to stick around for a bit?” Major asked me.

“Yeah. I’m sure the girls want to say hi to Tiffany.”

Within a few minutes, most of the swim complex was empty. Major said it would be at least fifteen minutes until the girls would be out of the locker room, so we stayed where we were until we saw them coming out.

Tiffany ran over to them. “You guys were so great. I can’t believe you can do that. I would have killed myself twelve times.”

Both of them laughed. “We’ve been practicing a long time,” Kayleigh said.

“Let’s all go out to celebrate,” Tiffany said.

“Sounds good to me,” I said. Major and Kayleigh were in too. “Karma, how about you?”

“I’m in,” she said. “We haven’t done anything as a group for a while.”

“Karma,” someone said from behind us. Turned out to be Anthony.

“Hey,” she said, all smiles. “I didn’t know you were here. Did you get to see the whole competition?”

“Yes, you were wonderful, baby,” he said.

Major and I looked at each other. He was a fucking liar.

“Thank you,” she said. “So, we’re all going out to celebrate. Are you going to come with us?”

“Can we talk for a minute?” he said to her, and they walked away from us.

There was definitely something wrong with this guy and I was going to find out what it was.

  Chapter 23

  Karma

“What’s up?” I asked Anthony, when we were away from the group.

“I had plans for us tonight,” he said.

“And?” I said, getting a little annoyed.

“And, I want to spend the evening with you.”

“Why can’t we do both? You haven’t spent any time with my friends, and lately I haven’t either. I’m going to dinner with them. It’s your choice to come or not.”

I started to walk away when he grabbed my arm. I noticed Bodie looking at me and I shook my head ever so slightly. I spun around and shot a deadly look at Anthony.
