Blaze's Mark (Devil's Riot MC: Originals Book 3) Page 7

by E. C. Land

My mom’s words pop in my head once again. Is this what she meant?

It has to be. That child is the most vulnerable of all and Dixie is one vile bitch.

I know what needs to be done. I just have to make sure Blaze’s little brother is born healthy first to determine the lengths of which I’m willing to go.

As the elevator doors open to the top floor, I step out and find all of Blaze’s brothers and the ol’ ladies of the club sitting around in the waiting room.

“Ray,” Stoney calls my name first.

  “Any news?” I ask.

“Not yet. Blaze informed the nurses at the station that they were to allow you in when you got here.” Baffled by his words I merely stare at him. “I don’t know all of what happened, but I know enough. I also know my brother. He’d never do anything to jeopardize what he has with you. You’re his saving grace Ray. The one who’s set him free of the pain he’s carted around for more years than I can count. Don’t let this cunt get between you.”

Taking in Stoney’s words, I nod my head. I’d thought about that the entire way here. Blaze wouldn’t have done anything with Dixie. Not without breaking things off between us and I don’t see that happening.

He’s made his voice heard more than once where our marriage is concerned.

“I guess I better get in there,” I murmur.

“Good, don’t let that cunt get under his skin anymore than she already has. This is like rubbing salt into a ripped open wound.” The way Stoney’s lip curls up at the side I can see the distaste he has for the bitch.

Without another word I head for the doors that lock everyone out of the labor and delivery section from the waiting room and hit the button to gain the nurse’s attention.

Soon as the door is unlocked, I step through and make my way to the desk.

“How may I help you?” the nurse asks, smiling.

“My husband came in earlier with a woman,” I say, and the nurse’s smile falters.

“Of course, he is in room 308 with Mrs. Morgan.”

Mrs. Morgan? Yeah right, the bitch is trying to portray herself as Blaze’s wife. That’s not about to happen.

“That woman’s name isn’t Mrs. Morgan. She’s nothing but a little cunt who got her ass knocked up by a man that was old enough to be her father or even grandfather.” Leaving the nurse sitting there, I make my way toward the room she’d stated.

Taking a deep breath, I open the door and immediately want to punch the bitch in her face as she whines for Blaze to hold her.

Yeah that shit’s not gonna happen.

“You just don’t ever learn, do you Dixie?”

  Blaze

As the door to the hospital room opens, relief fills me as I find my Little Bird stepping into the room. Her gaze is zoned in on Dixie, who’s whined nonstop since getting here about wanting me to hold her.

Shit the bitch even told the nurses that she was my wife.

“You just don’t ever learn, do you Dixie?” Raven snaps, making her way from the doorway to the end of the bed.

“Get out of my room. This is Blaze’s and my moment. You’ve ruined everything,” Dixie cries.

“Bitch you’re delusional if you think I’m leaving my ol’ man in your clutches any more than I already have.”

“Blaze, please get rid of her for the baby,” Dixie whines as she turns her head toward me.

“Nope, my Little Bird has the right to be here,” I state holding my arms open for Raven as she faces me. Stepping toward me she does exactly what I need her to do, wraps her arms around me as I close mine around her. “I’m sorry baby. Please believe me nothing happened. I’d never do that to you,” I murmur loud enough for only her to hear.

“I believe you,” she whispers in return, lifting her head up enough to meet my gaze. “We’ll talk about all of this later. Now what happened?”

“I don’t know. She was fine one minute the next she’s screaming in pain lying on the floor holding her stomach. Dixie has stated the pain just hit her instantly. However, when Doc lifted the gown up over her stomach you could see the bruises forming,” I murmur.

“Okay sweetie. How about you go give your brothers an update? I’ll find out what happened. Oh, I also want you to prepare yourself for having a child living with us,” Raven declares, and I don’t have to ask to know what she means.

Most people would think she was talking about taking custody of the child, but she’s talking about ending Dixie’s life.

“Little Bird don’t do anything you’ll regret later on.”

“Don’t worry Liam, I won’t regret anything when it comes to her. Let’s get your little brother into this world and raise him as ours. He doesn’t need her vile influence in his life.”

“I love you.” Tilting my head down, I press my forehead to hers.

“Love you too. Now go on out there and if you see Alverez send him in here,” she murmurs before pressing a kiss to my lips.

Grinning at her, I pat her ass and leave her with Dixie who we’d ignore the entire time we were having our moment.

“Liam what are you doing?” she whines.

“Don’t worry about what my ol’ man’s doing,” Raven snaps stepping up to the side of the bed. I open the door and step out of the room right as my woman reaches for Dixie’s gown.

When the door to the room closes behind me, I suck in a much-needed breath. Being around Dixie all day on top of the stunt she pulled, I’m over it. I need another shower to wash off her touch. Better yet I need my Little Bird’s touch to replace the whore’s.

Sighing, I first walk up to the nurses’ station and ask that they call Doctor Alverez and send him to Dixie’s room. Then I make my way out to the waiting room.

“What’s the news?” Stoney is the first to speak as I approach them.

“She’s in labor. Right now, the baby is stable according to the monitors and the contractions are coming every five or so minutes. Raven’s in there with her now.”

“Is that a good idea?” Coyote asks.

  “For now.” I nod.

“Okay. So, what caused her to go into early labor. I know you gave me a brief explanation earlier but what the hell happened,” Stoney demands.

Shaking my head, I go over all the details of what happened this morning and where everything went wrong when I listened to Dixie complain and thought it best to put her in the guest room at Raven’s and my place. As I go over the rest of it, my anger grows all over again at the bullshit the cunt tried to pull.

“She was fine when I stormed out of the house when Cane pulled up. Then we’d heard her screams so the two of us ran in to find her crumbled on the floor. I think she either punched herself in the stomach or slammed herself against the wall. She’s got bruises forming on her stomach that weren’t there this morning when we’d been at the doctor’s office.”

“That bitch needs to die,” Rachel snaps, causing several pairs of eyes to turn to her. “What?” she demands when she has everyone’s attention.

  “Doll,” Stoney starts.

“Don’t you Doll me. That whore and several others have caused enough grief in the club. Dixie especially has done enough. She should get what she deserves.” Rachel’s eyes are filled with so much anger even I could feel it rolling off her in waves.

“I agree with Rach on this one,” Vi states as she steps up next to Rachel. “Blaze deserves to finally be happy, same as Raven. She’s been miserable because of that bitch for the past month. I think we’ve all had enough drama to last a while thanks to Dixie.”

“If Raven doesn’t do it, I will,” Momma B adds to what Vi and Rachel state.

“Good thing you don’t have to worry about it. I didn’t realize we had some blood thirsty ol’ ladies a part of this club,” I grumble.

“Damn right. We’re not some meek little bitches who stand behind our men. No, we stand next to them,” Momma B grins.

“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Tracker says wra
pping his arms around Vi.

“Agreed. Rachel might seem like she’s the silent one, but she had the balls to escape the clutches of another club. Brought our kids to us wanting to handle the situation by herself,” Stoney chuckles.

“I should probably get back in there. Rach, Vi, Momma B would you three do me a huge favor and go shopping for some baby stuff for the kid. Whether or not Dixie lives or not, she’s not going to have my little brother. Raven and I will be raising him as ours,” I proclaim as I reach in my back pocket for my wallet to pull out my credit card.

“We can do that,” Rachel says. “Do you have a budget?”

Shaking my head, I hand her the card. “No budget. Grab everything you think we’ll need for him.”

“Okay. We’ll handle everything.” Rachel nods, putting the card in her back pocket.

“Thanks, I’ll come give you all an update when I know something else,” I say before turning and heading back toward the doors.

Closing my eyes, I do something I haven’t done in years.

  Pray.

I pray that my little brother is born healthy. I also pray that nothing will happen to Raven. I don’t want my greatest fears to come alive.

  Losing her will kill me.

  Raven

“You need to leave,” Dixie snaps the moment Blaze steps out of the room.

“Now that’s not gonna happen,” I drawl, smirking at her before turning my attention to the machines hooked up to her. “Be honest, how did you bring on your early labor.”

“I didn’t do anything. It’s from the stress you keep putting me through that’s caused it. If you’d have just stayed out of all of this Blaze would be with me now instead of you,” she sneers.

“Oh, you poor thing. You really are coo-coo in the head if you think my husband would leave me for you. He marked me as his. You know what that means?” I pause for a moment to give her a chance to answer. “It means that no whores like you will ever come between us.”

“I already have. I have his child inside me.” With a smirk on her face she runs a hand over her stomach. “And the best of it is we’ll be holding our son very soon.”

“Dixie, hate to break it to you, but you’ll never have the chance to see that child,” I say right before the door to the room opens and Doctor Alverez steps inside.

“Looks like I’m in time to join the party,” Alverez says as he goes about washing his hands. “Harlow is on her way as well. She’s just gotten here for her shift.” The doctor states mentioning my cousin's name.

“Good,” I nod, trusting my cousin to help with what needs to be done.

“Doctor please make her leave my room,” Dixie demands.

“I don’t think that would be wise considering that the child belongs to her,” Alverez retorts.

“The hell it does,” the screech Dixie makes is satisfying. She’s about to learn you don’t fuck with me.

“Oh, but it is Dixie. Remember when you first showed up, I told you that you were marked, and I never go back on my word. Your child has been mine since that day. How long do you think it will be before he’s born Alverez?” I ask, turning my attention from the bitch to my friend’s husband.

“Let’s go ahead and check,” he says, putting his gloves on, as Harlow quietly steps into the room. Her face stoic of any emotions. That’s her. Several men have claimed she’s nothing but an emotionless bitch but, in all honesty, if they only knew the truth. She’s known for her fury and has no problem snapping someone’s neck. Harpy is her code name in our world. It’s a name she lives up to that’s for sure.

“I want another doctor. You can’t do this, I’ll sue you all,” Dixie yells thrashing on the hospital bed.

“Yeah go ahead and try Dixie, it won’t help you,” Harlow sneers, heading for the sink to wash her hands.

“Go ahead and try no one would believe you. Now stay still so the good doctor can examine you,” I demand putting a hand on her shoulder squeezing it tightly to gain her cooperation.

“Dixie, I’m going to check your cervix to see how far dilated you are,” Alverez states as he slides the blanket over the woman’s legs. Spreading them apart he reaches under the gown and does his exam. “Seems you are ready to push, you’re fully dilated.”

Harlow goes about getting everything prepped for the delivery.

“No, I’m not. She’s going to take my baby,” Dixie protests, shaking her head. Her face a contortion of pain as she fights a contraction.

“Oh Dixie, I told you this already, that child is mine. He’s Blaze’s little brother and we’re going to be raising him as ours. Now prepare to push my son out or I’ll go ahead and slice your throat and let the doctor slice your stomach wide to get him out.”

Granted I don’t intend to do any of that. That’s not how I work.

“No. You’ll have to kill me if you want this child. He’s mine. I worked too hard to get this far. Blaze is mine. I’ll make him understand why I did it, along with what you're planning to do to me,” Dixie pants through a contraction.

“He already knows what I have planned. You think he’s going to stand in my way, I don’t think so sweetheart.”

“Just relax, it will all be over soon enough,” Harlow says softly from Alverez’s side.

“Ray, she's ready to push,” Alverez says, right as the door to the room opens and Blaze steps inside.

“Liam help me, please. She’s going to take our baby,” Dixie pleads reaching a hand out for Blaze.

Blaze merely gives her a blank look before crossing the room to stand behind me.

“I’ll be right here Little Bird if you need me,” he murmurs in my ear.

“Thank you, sweetie. You just rest. Doc and I will make sure this baby is born without complications. God knows what she’s done to him by slamming her stomach into a wall. Which I guarantee is what she did.”

“Alright and afterwards, you and I need to have a nice long talk about you running from me,” he states firmly, squeezing my waist.

Tilting my head to the side, I glance behind me to meet his gaze. “Oh, trust me we’re gonna be talking about quite a bit once this woman is out of our lives.”

Grinning Blaze leans down to press his lips against mine. “Looking forward to it,” he murmurs before stepping back to let me get back to helping Alverez.

“Blaze, I’m gonna need you on the other side of Dixie. You and Raven hold her legs up. Harlow, I’m going to need the olive oil,” Alverez orders as he positions himself at the foot of the bed where he’d collapsed the bottom half.

“What the hell do you need that shit for?” Blaze asks as he does what Alverez told him to do.

“It makes it easier for the baby to slide through the vagina,” Harlow clarifies.

Glancing at Blaze, you could literally see him swallow at being told to hold Dixie’s leg while she pushes a baby out. Oh, this is going to be fun. I hope my big bad husband isn’t going to pass out.

“Alright Dixie, I don’t give a damn if you want to or not. You either push or I make it happen,” Alverez snaps, determined to deliver this baby without any problems.

He’s a professional doctor, respected in the community but he’s also the spouse of Raul who I work with at the vet clinic. Raul also is the one who was Vicky’s and my contact for when a job was sent to us. He vetted all of them, turning down the ones he knew we wouldn’t take. So Alverez has it in him to be ruthless when needed.

Harlow on the other hand, she’s what you would call a nomad. She handles all her vetting and choosing of the jobs on her own.

People think that Vicky and I are scary, we have nothing on her.

“Please, I don’t want to give up my baby,” Dixie cries.

“Should have thought about that before you endangered the child. Better yet before you accused me of being the father,” Blaze snarls.

“I only did it so you’d stay with me. Please don’t let her take our son.”

  “Bitch fuckin’ push hi
m out and shut the fuck up,” he growls, fury rolling off him in waves.

“Dixie you need to push now,” Alverez commands.

For the next hour, we ended up forcing the woman to push until finally the little wails of an infant fill the room.

Blaze immediately releases Dixie’s leg to take the baby as the doctor offers to hand the little boy to him.

“He looks to be healthy,” Alverez states as I walk around him to move closer to Blaze.

“What do you want to name him?” I murmur, reaching up to run a finger along the baby’s forehead as Blaze uses the towel Alverez had wrapped around him to wipe the little one’s face.

“I don’t know,” He whispers, glancing from the baby to me.

“How about I take the baby down to the nursery to get him cleaned up and checked out while you handle the rest of this?” Harlow suggests. “Blaze you can come with me. You’ll need an armband. Ray when you’re done in here come down there and I’ll give you one as well.”

“Will do,” I nod, reaching up, I press a kiss to Blaze’s cheek. “Go, I’ll be down there in a few minutes.”

Without a word, Blaze leaves the room without a backward glance. Dixie yells and screams through the whole ordeal, demanding her child.

As the door closes behind them, I turn my focus back to the delusional woman.

“So, I’m going to guess the breaking point for you was the last time Blaze fucked and dumped you. Am I right?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Now get me my child,” she demands.

“That won’t be happening,” I mutter, walking around the woman’s bed.

“Ray, which plan would you like to go with? You spoke of two different ones. I think the first would be too easy for her,” Alverez says, mentioning the two plans I’d thought of. The first being, I kill her immediately. The second however sounds like a pretty damn good idea.

“Give her the sedative. I’ll make a call and have her moved within the hour to the private mental ward in Totaro. She won’t ever be able to escape from her confinements,” I inform Alverez before giving Dixie a ruthless smile. “Instead of simply killing you, you’re going to live your life knowing I’m raising your child with Blaze. You’ll never be able to see him nor will you see the light of day again. Have fun living in hell. Because that’s where you're going.”
