Barry sat back and started thinking, he knew he could figure a way to make things work out, but not killing the asshole in Arizona was not an option. Barry could let his list go, but the thought of that asshole really, made him want to go kill him now.
"I can delay our trip and get it done."
"Good, I love a can-do attitude, now I do need one more thing, it involves getting you clear of the C.C.K. mess, I need you to go with my two F.B.I. Agents, they will instruct you on what to do, and then you will be done, no tricks I promise, you have my word."
"Okay, when do I meet these Agents? I take it they are the same ones from the news?" Barry asked as he sat back in his chair.
"Yes, they are, and you can meet them now," the Senator said as he waved for the other bodyguard to get someone from inside the house. Barry watched the door open and the two F.B.I. Agents from the news press conference appeared on the porch.
"Barry, meet Agent Harold, and Agent Marone, Agent Marone, and Agent Harold meet Barry the notorious C.C.K. Killer," the Senator said with a smile.
Barry had to admit he felt little crazy shaking hands of the men who were sworn to catch him, but this felt like they were meeting at a cocktail party. He looked at the badges that were on their waists and just thought of how lucky he was that everything had happened the way it did.
"Agent Harold is the lead and will direct you as to where to meet him and get you in and out," the Senator said.
"Yes, I will get you in and out no problem, just follow my directions," Agent Harold said, looking Barry up and down.
"I can follow directions, no problem there."
"Good, then we will be in and out," Agent Marone said.
"Question? Are we looking closer to one week or two weeks?" Barry asked, looking at Senator Fueller, as he sat back down in his chair.
The Senator looked at Agent Harold for the answer.
"I think we can be ready in a week."
"Okay, I'll work from that time table."
"Good, then things are all set," the Senator said, looking at everyone, just to make sure everyone was in agreement and there were no last-minute objections.
"Okay, then I will get ready to deal with my last person of interest," Barry said as he looked at the F.B.I. Agents who both nodded their heads in approval.
Barry got up, and they all shook hands again, the Senator made sure they had his number so that they could be coordinated on this wrapping up of the case. Barry stood there for a second and thought, "This is why Washington is so screwed up." However, in this instance, it works for him. So what the Hell? He just knew he wouldn't want to be a politician; he'd stick to killing; it seemed to be much easier. He drove back trying to formulate a plan in his mind that would allow him to slip away from Karen and Corey, so he could not only make his last C.C.K kill, but so he could do what the Senator wanted him to do as well. Barry finally got back home, but more importantly, he had his plan in place to slip away from Karen and Corey, so he could take care of his last kill.
"Hey, how did things go?" Karen asked as she came out to greet Barry.
"Good, but we are going to have to delay our trip for a couple of weeks, then we can go."
"Yeah, Corey and I figured there would probably be something to cause a delay, but we're cool, so what does he need to be done?"
"I need to go to the West Coast and drop off a briefcase."
"That seems easy enough, but what's the catch?"
"I will have to pick something up as well."
"And when are you supposed to do all this?" Karen asked, looking at Barry a little sideways.
"In the next few days," Barry said and smiled.
Karen and Barry walked into the house as they continued to talk, and Karen went into the kitchen and warmed up Barry's food. Corey had left to go meet a honie. So they were all alone. They continued to talk as he ate and watched a little television before they got into bed.
Ed Daniels was getting ready for bed as well; he told his wife he would be up in a few minutes, Ed had a few things to finish before he could lay down.
"Okay Ed, hurry up, we have a busy day ahead tomorrow," Ann said as she headed upstairs.
"Give me thirty minutes, and I'll be up," Ed said as he looked over papers on his desk.
While Ed was looking over papers and other items on his desk, someone was looking over his house. Dave was starting to become acquainted with Mr. Daniels; he even shook his hand today at the event he held. Dave still wasn't sure how Ed Daniels was supposed to die, or where, or if any of that even mattered. Dave was sure that Ed Daniels was going to die, and he was going to be sure he could do the job. He had to be a little more careful, cancer had weakened him, so he couldn't be putting himself in a hand to hand combat situation, as these kinds of targets sometimes required, but Ed Daniels had virtually no security, except at his events and that was just the local Police presence. Dave knew this was his last job, but at least so far, it would be an easy job.
The Senator was getting ready for bed as well, he was happy with his success so far, and the national news coverage had even brought Ron Donaldson to his front door, he hadn't expected that to happen, but it was an unexpected welcomed event. The Senator knew the powers that be would be making moves against him as well, he was quite the unexpected person in his party to be a front running candidate for the Presidency, and that would not go over well within the party without a little persuasion. The Senator had a little dirt on almost everyone, and most would do as the Senator said. Although he knew of one person that would not go along with him, no matter what, and he may have the means to get rid of him, along with Ed Daniels, he thought. The Senator smiled as it became clear that his plans needed to change, but he would wait until he spoke to Ron Donaldson, so he could make all the right moves to get him to the White House.
Chapter 4
Slammed Again
"Not much going on tonight," Sam said.
"No, it's pretty dead, thank God," Hutch said, hoping tonight would be uneventful, because yesterday was leg day at the gym, and his legs were killing him.
"Hey, let's go sit on that fool we were going to serve the warrant on last week."
"You're driving," Hutch said, and he sat back in his seat, closed his eyes, and crossed his arms over his chest.
"You comfortable?"
"As a matter of fact, I am."
"Anyway, I know that fool thinks we forgot about his sorry ass, but he is in for a surprise. I got this feeling he's gonna show up," Sam said, as she started to drive.
Sam and Hutch pulled up to the street and parked. They sat there for a few minutes getting the lay of the land and noticed a couple of guys sitting in a car parked down the street, Hutch took Sam's binoculars and looked through them to check out the guys in the parked car, it was Ricco and Smith. Hutch handed the binoculars to Sam and pointed up the street.
"I know that fool ain't trying to catch our guy; everyone knows we been working this case for months," Sam said, looking through the binoculars.
"Well, it sure looks like they are working something on this block, no need to get mad, the guy probably won't show anyway," Hutch said, leaning back in his seat, getting comfortable, letting his sore legs rest.
No sooner than Hutch finished his sentence, and had his ass in just the right spot, the door opened to the house they were watching, and Randy came out smoking a blunt. Randy Jones was a wanted felon for multiple offenses including assault on a Police officer, so they knew this was going to be a fight. Sam even had on her rough and ready jeans as she called them. Sam was out of the car in a flash, Hutch could see Randy hadn't noticed Sam coming toward him, but he did notice Ricco jump out of his car when he yelled Police. Randy took off running, he jumped off the porch and headed toward the back of the house, going down the right side. Hutch saw Sam moving to cut him off while Ricco ran behind Sam, Ricco pointed for Detective Smith to go left. Hutch saw Sam, Ricco, and Randy disappear over the fence in the backyard, and a few moments later he heard a s
hot fired, he didn't hear a second shot, but he did hear a scream, some wrestling, and scuffling. Hutch ran harder and hit the fence. Hutch saw Sam flipping Randy over and cuffing him when he made it over the fence. Hutch saw Ricco picking up a gun as he got his balance back from hurdling the fence, and then he holstered his weapon.
"Is everyone okay?" Hutch said, looking around to make sure no one was hurt.
"Yeah, we're all good," Sam said, looking every bit as angry as the tone of her voice said she was.
"All good here Hutch," Ricco said, as he pulled a napkin from his pocket and wrapped the gun in it, to preserve the fingerprints.
"What happened?" Hutch asked as he watched Sam getting Randy in position so she could get him to his feet.
"Well, after we hit the fence, this one here (Sam points at Randy with her thumb, while she holds the cuffs with her other hand) decides he is going to play shoot ‘em up. That is until he realized I was too close and laid him out with a patented blindside move, but he saw it coming. That's when he screamed like a biatch," Sam said, pulling Randy up to his feet.
Hutch heard patrol units coming so he grabbed Randy as Smith made it around to where they were. Hutch figured he would let Sam dust herself off and take Randy out front and pat him down.
"Hey, I can take him and pat him down if you want Hutch," Ricco said, dusting a spot off of his shirt from his recent trip over the fence.
"It's okay, I got it," Hutch said, as he walked Randy to the patrol car, then pushed him down on the trunk and patted him down, pulling a few items from his pockets, and laying them on the trunk of the Police cruiser.
"Ricco, what the Hell were you thinking?" Sam said in a shitty tone, slapping some dust off her jeans with a lot more force than was necessary.
"Hey, don't start in on me, I was going to take the guy down," Ricco said, throwing his hands in the air.
"You gave him time to run and damn near getaway, it's lucky Hutch, and I were here, plus this is our case," Sam said looking at her arms and elbows for scrapes, and dirt.
"I didn't see your name attached to it, so we took it, don't get your panties in a bunch," Ricco said, wagging his finger at Sam.
"You need to stay in your lane Ricco," Sam said, as she turned and walked away from Ricco.
Hutch had finished patting Randy down and got him in the back of the patrol car when he saw Sam and Ricco come out of the backyard. Hutch was glad to see them both, okay, but he knew Sam was heated about Ricco being on their case without asking.
"Everything good?"
Sam didn't say a word before Ricco answered and started playing things up a bit for the crowd of officers at the scene.
"Yeah, everything's alright. We got the bad guy, and Sam's panties ain't in a bunch either," Ricco said, and he smiled for everyone looking at him.
Ricco was standing on the front lawn of the house where they arrested Randy when Sam walked up to him and said something in his ear. Hutch couldn't hear what Sam said, but he knew it was pretty bad because he could see Ricco instantly get mad and his face twisted and contorted, with anger.
"You know what? That lucky grab you got on me at the department wasn't nothing; everyone knows I can even things up real quick if I wanted to. So you need to calm down miss thang," Ricco said, trying to roll his neck like girls do when they get mad.
"Give us fifty feet," Sam said, and she took her gun off and handed it to Hutch.
Ricco looked shocked, but he knew he had to keep going to save face.
"I ain't going to fight no woman."
"Why not? You ain't no man, just a loudmouth little bitch, now put up or shut the fuck up."
"Okay, I know you're mad, but I don't want to fight you."
"Oh, it's not going to be a fight, just a lesson that you need to learn, called staying in your lane."
"I don't want to fight you."
"You scared? I won't hurt you too bad, plus we got medical kits, but I can smell the bitch in you from here," Sam said as she moved in on Ricco.
"Don't do it bruh, that's a bad woman," Randy yelled from the back of the Police cruiser, through the half rolled down window.
Everyone turned and looked at Randy, and he was shaking his head no, looking at Ricco. Sam walked up to Ricco and slapped him. Everyone could hear the slap echo off the house.
"Now do something Mama's boy," Sam said, standing there waiting for Ricco to fight back.
Ricco rubbed his face and looked around, but no one moved to help Ricco or stop the fight that was about to happen. Hutch had seen Sam in action and knew she was more than capable of handling herself, he was a little nervous, he didn't know how well-trained Ricco was at fighting, but there was no way he was stopping the fight. Ricco had been pushing for a showdown with Sam, and he was going to get it.
"Alright, you asked for it, remember that, you all are my witnesses," Ricco said looking around at the cops, and then he swung and hit Sam but not because he planned to but because Sam didn't move, Sam flinched at him, and Ricco swung wildly, hitting her by accident more than anything else.
Sam didn't even try to dodge the punch she just took it, full-on. Sam rubbed her lip and wiped the blood on her jeans and smiled.
"You hit like a bitch, now, let me show you how it's done."
"Damn, you done fucked up now," Randy said from the back of the patrol car, and all the cops there looked at him shaking his head no again.
Sam faked like she was going to hit Ricco in the head, which made him duck and she caught him with an uppercut, that put him right on his ass. Ricco tried to jump up quick like they all didn't see him get knocked on his ass. He wiped the bottom of his shoes on the grass like he slipped, you could hear a few of the cops' gasp, and of course Randy had a few words to say from the back of the patrol car.
"Daaaamn!! I told you bruh, that's a bad woman. Stay down! Stay down! Just take the "L" it's already over."
Sam wasn't fazed by any of it, she moved in and threw a shot to the head and three to the body that staggered Ricco, he tried to swing back wildly, but Sam made a classic shoulder roll move and slipped Ricco's wild punches. He was already starting to get busted up when she hit him with a jab that snapped his neck back and a vicious left hook that looked like it almost tore his head off, he hit the ground with a thud. Ricco managed to get to his feet, and he rushed toward Sam swinging wildly. Sam just ducked under three wild punches and hit Ricco with a stiff jab and a hard right hand that rocked him. Sam moved in while Ricco stumbled and swung wildly again, but this time she hit him with a left that made him stagger to the right, just as the right hook she threw landed perfectly on the side of Ricco's face. He went down and laid on the grass for a few moments like he was dead, then he slammed his fist in the grass and got back up. He was fully engulfed with rage, Ricco rushed Sam who simply sidestepped him, kicking him in the ass, and making him go by her stumbling, fighting to stay on his feet. He stumbled, but he didn't fall. He turned around and squared up with her. Ricco's face was a mess, and he was breathing with his mouth open, but Sam was barely breaking a sweat. She looked him up and down; then she moved in on him once again bobbing and weaving and using a stiff jab that was snapping his head back like a bobblehead doll. Sam went to work on his body, busting Ricco's ribs and stomach up, the blows were making him flinch and groan loudly with every shot she delivered. He was stumbling about to go down again, when Sam moved in quick, picked him up and body-slammed him on the grass. He lay there busted up and bloodied, moaning as he rolled over to his side.
"Damn bruh, I told you don't do it," Randy yelled from the back of the Police car again, then he imitated the line from Scarface perfectly," Look at you, look at you now," then he shook his head.
"Bye Felicia," Is all Sam said to Ricco when she bent over him to look at her work and put her hand out for Hutch to give her, her gun back.
Hutch handed Sam her gun back, she holstered it and walked away from Ricco while he lay on the ground still moaning. Hutch and Sam walked through the crowd of cops; a few we
re grabbing medical kits and rushing to Ricco's aid. Sam and Hutch walked back around the corner where Sam's car was parked and got in, but Sam took a napkin from the center console and wiped Ricco's blood off her hands before she started the car.
"I told you I was going to have to slam his ass one mo' time," Sam said as she started the car and turned the radio up, Hutch just nodded his head and sat back.
On the way, back to the station, they got a message the Captain wanted to see them. Neither one of them said a word, they figured word of the fight had gotten back to the Captain, and he would lay down the law about Police conduct, and they were both prepared for it. Hutch knew as a Lieutenant he should have stopped it, but Ricco had it coming, and everyone knew it. Hutch and Sam got to the precinct and walked into the Captain's office to find two other guys sitting there. Hutch kept his mouth shut, but he was wondering if Internal Affairs was checking this out until the Captain spoke.
"I'd like you two to meet Agent Harold and Agent Marone of the F.B.I.," the Captain said.
"I'm the lead Agent, and I just wanted to let you know we would like to see any pertinent information or evidence you may have regarding the C.C.K. case at your earliest convenience," Agent Harold said.
"We can come in tomorrow around one if that's okay," Hutch said.
"Sure, one o'clock works for me," Agent Harold said.
"Okay, then we are all set, you two hang back for a minute," the Captain said as the two F.B.I agents got ready to leave the Captain's office.
Hutch knew the hang back was the signal that the Captain knew about the fight and wanted to talk to them about it. They shook hands with the two F.B.I. Agents and watched them leave.
"I get the feeling these guys know exactly who our killer is, but they aren't telling, just cooperate with them and show them what we have, which ain't much," the Captain said.
"Well at least they seem to be taking the easy approach, unlike the last two ass hats," Sam said.
"Okay, so that should be an easy in and out deal with the feds. Now, what's this I hear about the brawl for it all?" The Captain asked, looking at Sam.
