Krysta turned to Greg. “Thanks for finding this.” She reached up and kissed Greg on the cheek. Greg drew back, looking surprised at the gesture.
“Well, I hope you find a good reason to stick around town.” Jacob said to Greg while nodding at Krysta. “For a long while.”
Greg’s eyes widened. “Oh,” he said.
Jamie turned to Ford. “You want to get something to drink? I think these two might want to be alone.”
Jacob walked across the room, with Domino beside him. “Maybe he’ll get it through his skull that Krysta might finally be looking at him in a whole new light.”
“I’m glad you put it so subtly to him,” Domino said.
“Oh, did you notice Mrs. Kennan around here?” Jacob looked over his shoulder. “I haven’t seen her.”
“Spotted her chatting with Roderick by the door. Time hasn’t slowed her down,” Domino said with a chuckle.
Jacob was about to suggest chatting with her, but he noticed Jubilee and Brian nearby and started over to them. “Hey, you two.” Then he spotted Brandon and Courtney beside them. “You all look as if you’re bursting to say something.”
Jubilee’s smile widened. “Yeah, there’s something I wanted to say before it became a little too noticeable.”
“I think it’s noticeable now,” Brandon said in whisper. Courtney jabbed him in the stomach with her elbow.
“Well spill it!” Jacob laughed. “You all look like this is the biggest news ever.”
Jubilee held up her hand. “How many people do you count here?”
“Easy. Four, unless you want to count me and Domino, and then it’s six,” Jacob said.
Jubilee shook her head. “Nope. You’re missing someone.”
“Who?” Jacob asked.
Jubilee wiggled her fingers around her abdomen.
“I don’t get it,” Jacob said.
Domino suddenly gasped.
Jacob turned to her. “What?”
Domino’s eyes were so wide they nearly bugged out. “Jay!” She jetted her arms out toward Jubilee.
“Doms!” Jacob replied in a mocking tone. “What is it?”
Domino grabbed Jacob and turned his head toward Jubilee. “You are so clueless! Do I have to hit you over the head with a rattle?”
“Rattle?” Jacob frowned. What a weird thing for Domino to say. A rattle? Like, a baby rattle?
Baby rattle…baby….baby?
Jacob’s eyes widened. “Oh my God,” he said.
