“Promise me this,” Doug asked her as they stepped outside the building into the cool of the evening. “Promise me that all of this is for real. I need to be sure that you are genuinely going to leave all this behind.”

“It is Doug. I just saw my prayers answered in there. The Pastor of my church told me to have faith that the Lord would work a miracle in my life before the week was over, and it happened, it really happened. I don’t know what your thoughts are on that one Doug but I believe he used you to make that possible. Thank you so much for paying Emilio the money, I promise I will pay you back every cent.” She paused for a second while she caught her breath. “Well I still have to find myself a job but….”

“Don’t.” Doug interrupted her. “Come and work for me. I run a real estate office in Coolangatta, it’s close to home for you, we’ve been real busy lately so I could use an extra receptionist in the office and eventually I can train you to be a sales agent if you wanted.

“I don’t know,” she hesitated. “What do you want from me Doug, honestly?”

“To believe, to find out if God is real, if all of this is real I guess.”

“Haven’t you spoken to your wife about God before?” Angela stopped and asked him. “Surely she must have tried to explain things to you.”

“Yeah, she tries to talk to me about it regularly.” Doug felt embarrassed. “It’s just that we’ve been trying to have a baby together for over a year now but the doctors have told us it’s impossible for Sally to become pregnant. Then one day she comes home from church believing something about the Holy Spirit telling her we would have a child together when I gave my life to Jesus.”

“And you think that is impossible?”

“Every doctor and clinic we have been to has told us the same thing. There’s no chance.” Doug looked at her curiously, finally it was all starting to make sense.

“This is God we’re talking about.” Angela placed her hand gently on his arm. “It’s obvious what has happened here Doug. God has brought you into the middle of everything that has been going on in my life so that you could see firsthand a miracle taking place. It seems he’s waiting for you to believe that he can do the same in yours.”
