Indelible Love Series + Entwined Bundle Page 91

“WOW!!! You will definitely be the undisputed queen in our minds from today till the end of time.” Josh declared when we got to the hotel. “This place is the bomb!”

“Babe. You sure we’re in the right place? This place is amazing.”

“I know, isn’t it? And to think, it’s all on someone else’s dime.” I squealed like a little girl.

“Why aren’t you working today? Or are you still working and we’re holding you back?”

“Long story, but thanks to Laney, our clients were agreeable to every point we brought up and they insisted we finish the business all in one sitting. We were done right after dinner last night.”

“Sweet.” He kissed me again. “Where is everyone?”

“They’re waiting for us at the infinity pool. Let’s get you guys settled and we can meet them for a late lunch.”

“EMILY!” Josh and Garret hugged my sister as though she was their long, long, long lost sister. I was a bit annoyed with the attention they were giving her.

“It’s so good to see you guys! It’s been too long. How have you been doing? Max told me you’re going to be an architect?” She addressed Garret first. Then she turned to Josh, “And you’re going to roam the world, expressing your talent through art?” Her eyes creased and made a crescent shape while she smiled.

My brother pulled Emily away from the two men who were still holding some part of her and brought her back into his hold. It didn’t matter who they were, Jake didn’t like his wife in the arms of any other man.

“Hello, Gentlemen. I’m Emily’s husband, Jake. You must be Garret.” Jake shook his hand. “And you’re the youngest, Josh?”

After the Davis boys did their duty, they turned their attention to Emily, again.

“I thought you said you’d marry me if it didn’t work out with Max. Why’d you go and marry this guy, instead?”

“Hey,” Garret pushed Josh out of the way, “Emily said she’d marry me before she’d marry you.”

Emily giggled with the rest of the Davises. “Well, when your brother dumped me, I thought about the both of you, but Garret was still in college, and Josh, you were still in high school. Garret, you were in the East Coast, and Josh, you just started driving. What was I to do? So I went and got myself married to the next available guy.” We all busted up laughing. We all, except Jake.

“Maybe in the next life?” Josh asked.

Before Emily finished her “maybe,” Jake interrupted and said, “not in any lifetime, ever.”

Walking to lunch, I gave Garret and Josh the evil eye and complained, “What was that all about? I thought you said I had beaten Emily in the favorite girl category!”

“I warned you we were fickle.” Garret laughed.

Josh joined in, “You’re our favorite...right after our absolute favorite.”

  Great!

“You are my absolute favorite, in any lifetime, Gem.” Max whispered in my ear. “You don’t need anyone else’s attention but mine.”

That earned my boyfriend serious brownie points...to be rewarded later...! Lunch was a happy affair.

We got a call during lunch, and were invited to join Donovan, Laney, and our clients for an outing on a green sand beach in the southernmost tip of the island. Emily and Jake decided not to come with us and since Kate didn’t join us for lunch, I didn’t bother suggesting we invite her. Oddly, she’s been more than aloof during this whole trip and I felt kinda happy—okay...really happy—that she and Donovan looked to be having issues. Once again—mean, I know!

The six of us got in a rented van and chatted most amicably during the ninety-minute ride. When we got to the beach, we met up with the other four, and we loaded up into one monster truck—inside the truck and outside on the truck bed—owned by a local guy, as he escorted us another ten minutes to the exact location of the green sand beach. This beach was a small alcove in what looked liked the middle of nowhere, where the waves were huge and the sand was a shimmery olive green. The setting was gorgeous.

“More Davises,” Donovan jokingly groaned while shaking Josh and Garret’s hands. He even opened up his palm to Max and both men played nice today.

“Shall we grab some boards and head into the ocean?” Max started taking off his shirt and handed me the sunscreen for his back, and front. Once I lathered his back, I took a bit longer than necessary rubbing the protection to his front side and that earned me a wet, almost sloshy kiss with lots of tongue. I stopped us before anyone complained.

“Who taught Delaney how to surf?”

“Donovan, we weren’t lying when we said she rocks in just about every sport. As Paris was to Nick’s family, Hawaii was to ours, growing up. Our little Laney’s been surfing since she could swim. Let’s all go in and join her.” Doug motioned for all of us to go into the ocean.

We were almost in the water when we saw Laney wipe out and possibly get hit on the head with the surfboard.

“Shit!” Donovan swore out loud and ran into the water. Doug, Nick, and then rest of the Davis brothers jumped in to save our princess. Within seconds, Donovan carried a protesting Laney out of the ocean.

“Put me down. I’m okay.” She tried to jump off.

“Stay still, Brat.” Donovan held on even tighter, if that was possible. He had her cradled into his body and she fought him every step of the way. “You have been a pain in my ass all day today,” he yelled at her.

She hurled her body away from his, and Laney ran as fast as she could up the steep steps back towards the monster truck we came in.

“You should go after her, Gem.”

“She’ll be all right. Laney and Donovan are not the best of friends and they’ve spent the last two days together. I’m surprised it’s taken them this long to get into a fight.”

“You sure you shouldn’t go over there with her? Should I go and see if she’s okay?”

“I’ll go see if she’s okay,” Josh declared.

“You don’t even know her. She doesn’t know who you are.”

“Sure she does. We were introduced back at the truck.” Josh had a grin a mile wide.

Could it be that our little Joshie has a crush on our little Laney?

“Let’s go swim, Babe. Let Josh work the Davis magic.” Max laughed and held my hand and ran me into the ocean.

I was tempted to have sex in the ocean after that thank you for the rubdown kiss, but this beach wasn’t very big, and there were too many people around, so we fooled around for a while, but didn’t take it too far. I figured we could skip dinner and take care of business when Laney was out of the room.

When we got back to the resort, my brother had made other plans. Of course my moronic older brother had booked us all to a luau without asking if we had plans, so a pre-dinner romp was out of the question. I was wondering how we were going to get some alone time when a beautiful opportunity presented itself.

“Laney, I think you should stay with us tonight. You have a bump on your head, and I’d like to make sure you are okay throughout the night. Someone needs to wake you up every few hours or so,” my ingenious older brother suggested.

“Jake, I’m totally fine. I don’t need anybody waking me up. With the exception of a slight headache, I feel fine.” Brat! Take the offer!

“Why don’t you stay with us, and we will all take turns waking you up every few hours,” Josh suggested.

Donovan didn’t look happy with that suggestion. “There are five of you in that room. How is Laney supposed to get any rest with so many bodies in one room? Where will she sleep?”

“She can sleep next to me,” Josh chuckled. “I promise to check up on her every hour.”

Boy, when Josh wanted something, he went after it with gusto. “Our little Joshie has a crush on Laney,” I whispered in Max’s ear.

  “It appears so,” Max laughed.

“Why don’t Kate and I take Laney tonight? We have two extra bedrooms and I can check up on her throughout the night.”

  “Thanks Donovan,
but I’d feel much better if she stayed with us.” My brother wasn’t giving up on this idea. God bless my brother!

“You guys are here on vacation, and I’m sure you’re tired of getting up throughout the night with the kids. Why don’t you and Emily sleep peacefully? You only have a couple more days left. I’ll take good care of her, Jake. I promise.”

Emily lightly nodded her head yes, and Jake gave in and let Donovan be the keeper of my cousin tonight. God bless everybody!

The only person who wasn’t happy about this agreement was Laney. She pouted and shook her head no, but she couldn’t overrule my older brother.

“You do know that this means you and I have the room to ourselves tonight. And I’m sure you came prepared?” I asked suggestively.

“By prepared, do you mean handcuffs, whips, chains, and gags? Those all got confiscated when I was going through the TSA check in, but I did come prepared in other ways. I’ve been prepared since the moment I saw you at the airport.” We both giggled and waited for the stupid luau to be done. Why was this show so long?

Laney grumbled the whole time she was packing her stuff to go to Donovan and Kate’s villa. I couldn’t wait for her to leave, but I tried hard not to show too much teeth with my grin. I was going to walk her to the villa, but Josh showed up with Max, so even that was unnecessary. Hot damn!

I had my negligee all ready, but Max didn’t give me a chance to do any prep. I was thrown—literally—on the bed, and he jumped right on top of me.

“Should we shower together first? We still have sand on us,” I complained.

“That’ll be round two,” Max explained.

“How many rounds will there be?”

“12, like a boxing match, unless one of us gets ko’ed.”

My boyfriend started kissing me behind the ear, and soon it turned to sucking down my neck. He started sucking hard enough where I feared a high school hickey coming on. Then the sucking progressed south and he latched onto my right breast right over the T-shirt (lost the bra before Max showed up) and I practically jumped off the bed. There was something freakin’ arousing about that thin barrier between his suctioning mouth and my breasts.

“Did you let Hannah ride on the Harley?” Where the hell did that question come from? Sometimes I just couldn’t help myself. “Did you?” I kinda asked again.

“You really want to talk about this when your sweet nipples are in my mouth and I’m about to give you your first orgasm of the night?”

“You can keep going. I just need a yay or a nay,” I answered between moaning and grabbing onto the bed sheet for dear life. How had I never known in my twenty-seven years of life that my girlfriends were so sensitive?

“Yay.” Max whispered just loudly enough.

“What? I told you I didn’t want her riding on the bike. I don’t want anyone else getting that close to you.”

He stopped sucking (which was not what I wanted) and he was about to say something, but thought better of it.

  “What?” I goaded him.

He pulled himself off of me (which was something I really didn’t want him to do) and thought a few more seconds before laying it on me. “I’ve seen Donovan touch you, hold you, and kiss you way too many times on that forehead of yours, but haven’t made an issue of it. But you’re going batshit crazy over Hannah asking for a ride on the bike?”

Uh-oh...I shouldn’t have started this, but now I had no choice but to fight back and win the argument.

“I am not going batshit crazy! It was just a question.”

“If you’re making me use my mouth arguing rather than giving you orgasms, you are certifiably batshit crazy.”

He and I had a bit of a staring contest, then both of us started howling.

I was a moron. Was I going to admit this to my boyfriend? Hell no! But I admit it to myself. I bring unnecessary grief to all those involved with me.

“Did you say the words mouth and orgasmssss, as in plural?”

“Yes, GEM! Orgasmsss as in plural—of the oral kind.” He grinned an evil grin.

I pulled his body back onto mine. “Well then, what are you waiting for...an invitation?”

“I don’t want to hear one word out of you that isn’t related to sex. You got that?” Ooh...the dominant Max is here now. My Dom!

After making quick work of both our clothes, Max told me he was going bottoms up this time and he trailed his kisses EXACTLY where I wanted them trailed. I could feel his breath getting oh so close to my happy place. He blew on me a few times then I felt his lips, his tongue so close to that sweet spot when...

“Max, Jane, open up! This is an emergency!” This time the culprit was Josh.

I try not to drop the F-bomb too often in my life. I so try not to be a potty mouth, but this was an instance where I had to shout, “Dammit all to hell! Leave us the fuck alone!”

There was a male audience outside laughing at my misery.

“WHAT???” I yelled opening the door.

“Eew! Get some clothes on.” Nick complained at my Max’s t-shirt attire.

“What’s the emergency?” Max came to the door wearing the other half of our outfit.

“Have you seen Laney?” Josh asked this question half a second sooner than Nick.

“What do you mean, have we seen Laney? Isn’t she staying at the palace?” I snapped at both our brothers.

“She left without telling anyone where she’s going, and we’re all worried about her.” Josh really did look worried.

“What do you mean she left?” I asked with more exasperation than I could possibly explain. “Where could she have gone?”

  “Nobody knows...” Nick added.

  Shit. Why me???

“How can we help?” My kind and understanding boyfriend squeezed my hand as an empathetic gesture, as well as a warning.

I knew this wasn’t the time to complain, but why did Laney have to get herself lost now?

“We’re all meeting in Jake and Emily’s room. Come over as soon as possible.” Josh instructed us.

After an all too quick and dreamy Max kiss, we got dressed and assembled at my brother’s room. Emily was a mess. She looked frightened and worried. I guess this was the difference between her and me. I figured Laney was a grown adult, and she’d come back when she felt like it. She wasn’t exactly lost. She just didn’t want to be found. For Emily, it was as though she’d lost her own child. She looked sick with worry.

“Emily.” My boyfriend, of course, felt her pain and went over to give her a hug. “It’s not good for you or the baby to be so worried.”

“But what if Laney’s hurt? What if someone took her? Where can she be, and why would she purposely do this to us? She must be in trouble somewhere,” Emily said frantically.

“Nobody took Laney and she’s not hurt. This is one of the finest hotels on the island, and I’m sure she’s out doing something and forgot to tell us that she had plans,” Max held her some more.

  GROAN...!

Jake slowly unweaved the two of them (you go big brother!), and brought Emily back into his arms and kissed her forehead. Now that was a sight I preferred watching. I pulled my boyfriend back to me and placed my arms around his waist.
