  I laughed. I couldn't help it. She was right; even though I liked Travis he had this sort of arrogance about him. Some drivers got that way. Seriously, the guy rented out an entire restaurant so that he could celebrate his own fucking birthday. Who does that sort of thing?

  “He annoys me sometimes. He drives great and I’m sure in time will be racing with the best of them. I thanked you before and I’ll thank you again for coming here with me tonight,” Brooklyn told me.

  I leaned forward and opened the door letting Brooklyn go inside before me. “I’m glad I could help, darlin’.” I smiled as she walked inside. Pretend date or not, I was going to try to make the best of it.
