“Oh, come now,” said Jade. “Speak it!”
“Luné,” said Heidi.
The room became all filled with blue light, and Jade blew out the candles with a smile. “Very good,” she said. “Only one more for tonight.”
She pointed to a pair of words written beside one another, in the space below the first. She invited Heidi to attempt them.
“But what do they do?” asked Heidi.
“Watch,” said Jade. She positioned one of the candles directly before her, and spoke the words, “Aes lina.”
As if lifted by an unseen hand, the candle rose slowly and steadily into the air, until it hovered some feet above the table.
“Linfé,” said Jade.
The wick burst into flame.
THE END.
