“Ooh!” Her body spasmed and she tossed her head back. “Oh! I… yes…”
He loved seeing her come, loved the way her body reacted to him and this was intense. “Good girl. Come again.” Shocked, the moment she came again, a painful look of utter pleasure crossing her face, he smiled. This was pure satisfaction for him. Thrusting harder and faster, he was shocked the wave continued, her muscles convulsing.
When she finally calmed down, she opened her eyes and gave him a sexy smile, one that begged for more.
David reached out and jerked a chair toward him. “I’m going to fuck you now, hard. There will be no denying me. Do you understand?”
“Yes, sir.” She took a step back and fumbled to unfasten his pants.
Immediately, he took over, jerking down his zipper and wrangling to get the tight material down his hips. The moment he did, he gripped both hips, sat down with a hard thud and brought her down on top of his cock, impaling her with the entire length.
“Ah!” Throwing back her head, Shannon panted and writhed, every part of her body shivering.
“Yes. God, so fucking tight. You’re so tight.” He lifted her and repeated the move, the sound of her bruised ass being slammed into his legs truly incredible. He managed to kick off his pants, finagling them over his shoes and in the next few minutes drove his swollen cock into her relentlessly, the rhythm kicking into high gear.
Shannon lolled her head down, her hands gripping his shoulders and with every savage plunge she whimpered. “More. God, I want all of you.”
He was on fire, unyielding and as he attempted to focus, to control his actions, he realized he could get out of control. The thought fueled him even more, bringing the beast living just beneath the civilized man out.
“Oh, yes. I want…” A single husky laughed slipped from her lips, the look on her face one of crazed lust. She moved up and down, following his rhythm, until they were perfectly in sync.
His balls filled with seed, his cock aching to the point he threw his head back and wailed. And all he could think about was fucking her like this every day. David did everything he could do to hold back his need, but the powerful effect of her body interacting with his was simply too much. “I… can’t… hold it...” Growling like a wild man, he glanced into her eyes and knew what the mischievous glint meant. The second she tightened her pussy muscles around his shaft, he lost it. “Fuck!”
Chapter 4
Shannon shifted in her seat and moaned. She hadn’t been able to concentrate on any of the important details of a single case, given the way her ass felt. The whipping had been severe. And much needed. Nibbling her bottom lip, she had to admit the sex after had been out of this world. For a few seconds, she closed her eyes, longing to have such incredible passion every time they made love. Giggling, she was forced to admit this had nothing to do with making love. That carnal act had been all about hard fucking.
As she glanced back down at the file and the words and fragmented sentences from the early morning meeting, she realized she hadn’t taken nearly enough notes. Thoughts about their conversations late into the night filtered into her mind. David was right about so many things, but sadly, she wasn’t as comforted by the concept they were working together to strengthen their marriage. Did she no longer believe in his desire to try and save what they had? Hell, she wasn’t certain and she hated herself for all the thoughts of doubt.
Groaning, she rose from the chair and rubbed her ass, wincing in pain. She was striped and bruised. She’d been positioned dutifully in her place, disciplined well for her ridiculous actions, and told she was going to have at least two more spankings this week. Now, she grinned.
“I heard the meeting was a success.”
“By whom?” She could tell Wendy was being serious. The case was going to drain the life out of her. Restful periods of sleep were becoming difficult. Any time racism was mentioned everyone was on edge.
“I hear things. You know that.”
Shannon laughed and gave her a cautious look. “I hate this damn case.”
“But you’re so good at what you do.”
“Not when I have to sit with a group composing of two retired judges, one plastic surgeon and two women who should be trying out for the next installment of the raunchy housewives of Seasons Landing Homeowners Association. I heard more screaming like teenagers today than I have in… Let me think. Oh yes, since the last time we met in a closed session. And to think, I actually have to attend their monthly Board Meeting next week. I think I’ll be carrying a gun with me.”
“Well, you should have a license to carry,” Wendy teased. “I mean if you’re serious, of course.”
“Yeah. There are those days I can see why shootings occur in these planned communities.” She was serious all right. Tossing her pen, Shannon had lost her cool more than once and for the first time wasn’t entirely certain there wasn’t at least some truth to Jameson Miller’s case. No, the man was a true nut case. “There are honestly days I truly have no patience left with them. And we all know, patience certainly isn’t one of my virtues.”
Folding her arms, Wendy moved closer. “Good point. Should I clear your calendar of all your other cases?”
“Tease me anymore and I’ll give you a tidy little pink slip as an early birthday present.” Shannon shifted back and forth and the instant the material of her skirt swept across her ass, she winced. Wearing pantyhose wasn’t an option today and the way her naked cheeks were forced to come in contact with the skirt was creating yet another reason for grabbing an early drink.
“Hmm. You look pained. Maybe you need some help with the case.”
“No.”
“I’m serious.”
Shannon closed the folder and raised her eyebrow. The day was filled with meetings with clients and two cases to prepare for court. “You know I work alone. Besides, we’re just recovering from the economic crunch. I think criminals took a vacation for a couple of years.”
“The truth is, you’re hard headed and refuse to give up control. You can’t lie to me and you don’t do it well anyway.”
The concept struck her as funny. Here she was, completely in control of her business, being considered a tough taskmaster to the people who worked for her. Powerful by day and submissive by night. The words sounded like a racy erotic novel. “You’re right and you know what? I like it this way. I might be a bit overworked, but that’s what I enjoy.”
“Uh-huh, until you get old and gray.”
“That’s why God made hair dye.” Shannon pointed her finger and attempted to look stern. “Now, we have back to back appointments and I refuse to have them run long. If any of them start encroaching into the next appointment, interrupt me. You got it?”
“No problem, boss woman.” Her eyes twinkling. Wendy gazed up and down Shannon and shook her head. “Whatever happened last night was good for you. I can tell.”
“It’s not what you think it is.”
Wendy leaned over, a coy look on her face. “I know. Trust me I know the look very well.” A wry smile curling on the corner of her mouth, she gave Shannon a nod before turning and heading for the door.
Shannon choked back a laugh and was glad they were closer than most employer/employee. “And what do you think you know?” Grabbing the file for her next meeting, she only half paid attention as Wendy said the words.
“I know a well-disciplined woman when I see one.”
As her mouth dropped open, her heart racing, she attempted to remain as nonchalant as possible, but her shaking hand had to be a dead giveaway. How in the world did the girl know?
“Don’t worry, boss woman. Your secret is safe with me. For what it’s worth, I think discipline looks good on you.”
“You’re whistling and have been since you got here. That must mean you got laid.”
Unfortunately, David had just taken a sip of coffee and watched in near fascination as the entire mouthful spewed all over the final set of plans for their latest client. At that mome
nt, he loathed ink jet printers. He gave Bruce his middle finger as he coughed and wheezed.
“I’ll take that as an affirmative,” Bruce chortled as he walked closer.
“Don’t just stand there.” David hacked, another round of spittle spewing over the plans. “Get me some freaking towels, partner of mine, or you’re going to be the one printing the entire set of plans all over again. Not me,” David snarled at his partner.
Laughing, Bruce walked toward the small wet bar in the corner of the room, yanking a roll of paper towels from the small holder. He glanced toward the door before speaking. “You finally nailed that sexy blonde who seems to be trailing behind you?”
“Trailing behind me? What the hell are you talking about?” Did his partner really think he was having an affair? Given his behavior at the bar the other night, David could see why. He grabbed a handful of paper towels out of Bruce’s hand and lowered his voice as he stole a quick glance at the door. “I’m not having an affair. I wouldn’t do that to Shannon.”
“Good. I’m damn glad to hear you say that. I’d fucking kick your ass if you were. Shit, man. You’re one lucky guy. Shannon is gorgeous and sexy. One hot fox if you ask me.”
“I know that!”
“Hey. Don’t shoot the messenger. I was excited to see how happy you are. I take it you had that talk with her?”
David exhaled as he blotted the set of drawings, grimacing and not from the fact there was more work to be done before his eleven thirty meeting. “Yeah.”
“Yeah. You’re a man of many words. I have no idea how to handle all the information you’re doling out,” Bruce cracked.
He remained silent as he finished sopping up the liquid. “Damn it. They’re ruined.”
“Well, just glad you’re more content, less bristled around the collar.”
“Bristled around the collar?”
Bruce leaned in. “You know exactly what I mean. I’ll go print another set of plans. The happy couple is going to love what you’re proposing. Stop worrying.” Bruce gathered up the papers as he mumbled under his breath.
Pig headed asshole? Fuck you buddy. “I’m right here. I can hear you. And don’t call me a pigheaded asshole.”
“You are and that’s why I stated the obvious. You love Shannon and this journey you guys are on is amazing. I thought everything was going good for you two.”
David shrugged. “Appearances can be deceiving.”
“What is going on with you? This is the guy who was ready for divorce court a few short months ago. I’m asking you again and be honest with me. Are you having an affair?”
“No!”
Bruce held up his hands and took a step back. “Down, big boy. I got it. I’ll leave it alone.”
“Fine!” David sighed, remaining on edge. Had his behavior changed again? Was he grumpy? Yes, you are.
“We don’t have much time, so I’m going to print a new set of plans and meet you in the conference room.”
“I ripped up the contract and walked out the door.”
“What?”
Nodding, David tossed the towels into the wastebasket. “I did.”
“Then why were you whistling earlier?”
“Because… Because it forced me to realize I have no clue what I’m doing with this.”
“Okay. Domestic discipline is a challenge. You and I have talked about that before. I thought you realized there would be bumps along the way, just like any relationship.”
“I didn’t understand how tough the change was going to be. I don’t know.” Leaning over his desk, he gazed at her picture. The single photograph he had of her was taken during a trip to St. Martin. The wind-swept look had always been so sexy on Shannon and she was so happy then. Now, he only acknowledged her pensive face, one filled with fear and worry.
“I’m no expert, but I think you need to give yourself a break. Why don’t you two take a vacation?”
“You know I can’t.”
“You mean you won’t.”
David opened his mouth to retort, then groaned.
“You forget you have a partner and the last time I checked, I have this diploma hanging on the wall, one that says I’m actually a licensed architect. Oh, and in case you forgot, I also have a Master’s in Business Administration as well.” His eyes twinkling, Bruce huffed in an exaggerated manner.
“I hear you. We have a hell of a lot going on. And we’re up for that big government contract too.”
“What?” Bruce gasped. “You’ve been keeping things from your partner, the one you used to call your partner in crime?”
“Just received the phone call before you walked in,” David said as he grinned. The contract was going to put their little firm on the map. And knowing the way the city government was, the little details were going to have them working weekends.
Bruce snorted. “Time for a serious celebration. Why don’t we go out tomorrow night, the four of us? You know, somewhere nice?”
“Hmm.” Rubbing his jaw, David’s eyes lit up. “You know what? It’s our anniversary day after tomorrow.”
“Perfect. I’ll make the arrangements for dinner.” Bruce’s smile was huge. “But if you forget to tell your lovely bride, I’m taking her on as a threesome with my gal.”
“You’re still together? She can stand your sorry ass?”
This time Bruce flipped him the bird. “Let me give you a piece of advice and Marcie just might be the one.”
“Coming from the man who’s had more women in his life in the last few years than the entire Chicago Bulls. Heard that at least five times in the last five years alone.”
“Keep it up and I’m going to tell all your dirty secrets to Shannon. Then I’ll steal her.”
“Then,” David challenged, “I’ll hunt you down like a dog.”
“Deal. But seriously, how about sending her some flowers?” Bruce asked quietly. When David hesitated he clucked his jaw, “I do have a lot to teach you. You suck as a husband. All the good marriages are wasted on men who have zero clue. And still they get the hot women. Send her some roses and don’t make them red. Select an exotic color.”
“Exotic?” David couldn’t remember the last time he’d sent her flowers or any little gifts. Maybe Bruce was right. Yeah, okay. Bruce was definitely right. He did suck as a husband.
“Yeah, like mauve or tangerine.”
“I worry about you, buddy. Afraid you’re pitching for the other team.”
Snarling, Bruce walked backward toward the door. “Do it. You may still be able to learn yet. Maybe.”
David laughed as he watched Bruce walking out of the office. Did all couples take each other for granted after a period of time? At least for him he knew the answer. He walked toward his computer, punched in Google and typed in the only florist he knew close by. Yanking his cell phone from the case he made the call. “Uh, yes. I’d like to order some flowers.” The way the kid answered the phone made him think of a bubblegum chewing teenager, one hungry and eager for life. My God. He was going through a midlife crisis.
“K. Whaddya want?”
“Roses. Two dozen.”
“What color?”
He only debated for a split second. “Mauve.” Hearing the kid cringe on the other side of the phone line made him laugh. The word pathetic came to mind.
“I have two pieces of good news and one that might make you angry.”
“Wendy. Can we stop with the cryptic talk? I’m tired, cranky and definitely in need of a tall glass of red wine after the day we’ve both had. Four other meetings, two conference calls, one nasty email from Mr. Miller’s attorney and a partridge in a pair tree filled my day. So, what is this news?” Shannon heard the snip in her voice, but at this point, she was seriously thinking about another career, maybe refuse collector.
“You do need an attitude adjustment. Maybe one of these two gifts will help. My guess is a sexy man is involved with one of them.” Turning on her heel, Wendy strode out the door.
“Gifts? What g
ifts? You know I hate gifts!” The truth was, Shannon just wasn’t used to receiving them. David wasn’t the romantic flowers and candy kind of guy, never had been. She eyed the door, her curiosity off the charts, and couldn’t have been more shocked when Wendy cruised back into her office, a crystal vase full of roses in her hand. “What the hell?”
“I don’t think I’ve ever heard a woman unhappy about receiving two dozen of the most gorgeous sterling silver roses I’ve personally ever seen in my life,” Wendy huffed.
“Sterling silver?” The bouquet was gorgeous and sent a little thrill down her spine. The gentle mauve color shimmered in the light.
“Rare indeed. Took a man who loves you to death to realize red roses are passé today.” Wendy eased them onto Shannon’s desk and flicked her finger back and forth across the card. “You must have been pretty good last night.”
“Wendy!” Shannon admonished and darted her glance toward the card. A quick moment of wondering about whether David felt guilty raced into her mind. David never gave her flowers unless something was wrong or he was apologizing about… A flash of Jade’s smile, the woman who’d instantly become her nemesis months before, gave her the chills. Why in the world was she thinking this way?
“Uh-huh. I’ll take them if you don’t want them and maybe the other surprise will give you a smile. It certainly did me.” Wendy’s purr filtered between them.
“Wendy!” Shannon gingerly took the card from the thin, plastic holder. What could David have to say to her?
“Fine. Remember the intern coming to work for a couple of months?”
“Intern? What are you talking about?” Shannon racked her mind, trying to figure out what her assistant was talking about. Then the memory dawned on her. Her partners had insisted they begin working with interns from Harvard. Something that could give them reasonably priced employees, as well as certain clout with certain members of society and made her cringe. Training a newbie, she had no time for. Kowtowing to the finer families of the cities, the ones with children being educated within the hallowed halls of Harvard, was blasphemous.
